Can't delete custom color profile

I created a custom color profile and now it won't let me delete it, the delete option is grayed out. I have looked in the colorsync profile folder and it isn't there either. Does anyone know how to delete it?

Chad,
Open your Color Sync Utility, and find the profile in question. Once highlighted, it will show the path for that profile under "Profile Information:". Follow that path, and you can delete it from there, though it will probably ask for an administrator password. That should be it.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Is it possible to use or assign a custom color profile like I would in capture 1? Thanks

+If these aren't in /Library sub folders they could be in /Users/yourname/Library sub folder (depends if they were installed for a single user or all users)+
SHAZAM!! You solved it for me. When you told me to check the directories before, I was already in Users/yourname/etc. I didn't realize there was another Library at the System level. The profiles were there, glaring at me like they'd been there the whole time. Imagine that.
All the subfolders you mentioned were in there respective places too.
But that brings up another question... One always leads to another, right?
Why do I have three 'Library' folders that all have Colorsync folders with different profiles in them???
    I've got one at StartUpDrive/Library/subfolders
    another at StartUpDrive/System/Library/subfolders
and a third at StartUpDrive/username/Library, though this one hasn't been modified since 2004. Can I delete it?
    Thanks a ton

  • Discard custom color profiles?

What happens to a dng file's appearance if you delete the custom color profile it was using?

    Why is that?
You can't remove profile, but you can change it to whatever you want in the same way as described.
By the way, all DNG files created by Adobe software DO contain embedded profile in any case.
Well, if you really want to, you can delete embedded profile using exiftool

  • I can't calibrate any color profile for my iMac's display!

I think I accidentally deleted the color profile for my iMac's display
and now it won't let me calibrate any profile! All the colors are bright and washed out.
When I go to the display>color preference panel I get an error sound whenever I click ANY color profile, and it doesn't load. When I click "calibrate" it gives me the message: "Can not calibrate the display. The factory profile for the display could not be found."
But I wasn't even using the factory profile, and it won't let me choose any other ones, either (though a whole list does show up!)
I tried repairing/verifying the profiles in the ColorSync Utility, but it didn't help.
Is there somewhere I can download the profile and install it? I'm running a white 20" Core Duo 2GHz iMac (summer of 2006), if that helps.
    Thanks!

    seenew,
I'm wondering if you would have any luck with resetting the PRAM? PRAM settings hold some of the display preferences I believe.
See: "Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM"
If not, I am wondering if reapplying the Combo update for 10.4.7 might correct the display calibration issue or at least return it to the default?
I don't think that recreating the .plist file for displays will help.
As far as I know you cannot "download" the profile.
sorry if those suggestions don't help,

  • How do I get a custom color profile into a PDF?

I have a client who provided a custom color profile for a CMYK file.
I worked on Photoshop CS5.1 images and made sure the profile is embedded.
I placed these Photoshop images into an Illustrator CS5.1 template and made sure the profile is embedded.
I need to create a hires PDF with the Press Quality settings from the Illustrator file.
I have been doing a Save As to PDF from Illustrator, which seems to work.
OK, that's when my troubles start.... When I go into Acrobat Pro X v10.0.0 nothing indicates my profile is there.
I even have the profile loaded into Acrobat.
The client seems to want the Paper Simulation to show their profile, but the profile does not even come up in the list when I look for it. It seems to default to RGB even though this is a CMYK file.
I messed this up once already, and I need to get it right this time.
The client is in Germany and they sound very angry when they don't get the proper files.
    Help!

  • How can I delete a fixed profile rule in a Linksys ATA?

I have a Linksys SPA2100 ATA that I used with a previous VoIP provider. I did a factory reset but their profile rule is still listed in the first Profile Rule section under the Provisioning tab. Profile Rule B, C and D are blank and I can enter a profile rule in there but I can't delete the main profile rule because it is fixed. I can't highlight it and delete it for some reason. There must be another way to delete this profile. This is what is listed there minus the name of the provider. I attached a screen shot too. Thanks.
    Profile Rule: https://spa.act.voip.xxxxxx.com/$PN/stub.bin

    Hi billcanada,
Take a look at your SPA2102's Voice tab > Info tab > Product Information > Customization:
    It should contain "Open"
If not, you've got what is known as an "RC-unit" which is what we sell to many service providers allowing them to customize and lock the unit down. Given that you've got admin access, try the following [but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work]:
    1. Enable debug on the SPA2102
    2. Write a simple config file called spa2102.cfg whose contents include:
      Yes
      /spa$PSN.cfg
    3. Save the spa2012.cfg file in the root of your TFTP server
    4. Start the TFTP server
    5. Start Wireshark on the subnet to which the ATA is connected
    6. Power-cycle the ATA
    7. Once it's booted, try and force a resync of your ATA using your browser: htttp://ataIPaddress/admin/resync?tftp://ipAddrOfTftpServer/spa2102.cfg
    8. Verify with Wireshark that the ATA requested and received the /spa2102 file
    9. Use a browser to determine if your config file overwrote the grayed-out Profile_Rule in the web-UI

  • How Can I add a color profile to OS X 10.8.4?

How Can I add a color profile to OS X 10.8.4?
I've tried to locate the color profile folder but it's not availble.

    Hello gipseyeyes,
It sounds like you're trying to add a ColorSync Profile to your Mac.  I found a few resources that may help.
First, I recommend reviewing the following article:
Mac OS X: How to Create a ColorSync Profile Used By Every Account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22329
The note in step 6 from that article is particularly useful for your situation:
Note: You may need to make some of these folders if they do not exist.
Also, the user Library in Mountain Lion is hidden, so you will need to follow these steps to get to "~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/":
OS X Mountain Lion: What is the Library folder?
The Library folder contains files used by OS X and your apps, including your personal fonts and preferences. The Library folder is hidden. If you need to open it, make sure you are in the Finder, hold down the Option key, and then choose Go > Library.
You can find the full article here:

  • Problem using custom color profiles in Camera Raw

    Dear Adobe Community,
I've created a custom color profile using the DNG profile editor, and I've been able to open that custom .dcp file in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) through Adobe Bridge.  However, when I apply the color profile to the same image, I do not get the same results as I get with the profile editor.  When I open the "corrected" RAW file in Adobe Photoshop, the colors are the same wrong colors that I have in Bridge, am I missing something here?

    Yes, you're missing something.
Camera profiles are meant to account for different spectral distribution in different light sources, which is something else than different color temperatures. You still have to make all the normal adjustments, like white balancing, to get the image right.

  • Custom Color Profiles

With the wonderful creation of X-Rite's Color Checker Passport and their software integration with Lightroom, I find myself creating profiles for lots of different lighting scenarios.  I would really like the ability to delineate between a "global" color profile such as the Adobe Standard or "built-in" ones that come with Lightroom, and a "local" profile.  "Local" profiles would have all of the same metadata as the global ones, but would reside or be associated with a particular folder (which I associate with a client *job*).
When viewing that particular LR folder or *Job*, the local profiles associated with that folder would be shown in the custom color profile drop-down combo box.  This would keep the color profile drop-down box from being polluted by many color profiles that get created (in my case) daily.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this ability!

    Hey WIll,
Yeah, that's a pretty great idea.

  • Where does Photoshop CS5 pull custom color profiles from?

Photoshop CS5 is not seeing my new custom color profiles for my scanner when i try to "Assign profile" or "Convert profile". it sees my old profiles that I used in CS4. i have made sure to copy the profiles the following directories:
    /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    myuseraccount/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
where else does CS5 pull color profiles from? By the way, those old color profiles DO NOT exist in the above directories. your help is greatly appreciated.

In all honesty, I've never had occasion to think about any such "reconciliation".  I've never re-named a profile's file name in the Finder, and in the few cases where I've run into a discrepancy there, I just make it a point to remember the internal name and forget about the other one.

  • Custom color profiles not showing as available in InDesign CC

This is a college graphic design lab environment with iMacs running 10.9.4 and the CC versions of Adobe programs
We have a variety of custom color profiles for our specific printers and media.  They're located in a special folder and an alias of that folder is located in /Library/Colorsync/profiles.  The profiles in that folder do not show up  as available for selection in InDesign CC.  They did before the upgrade to the CC version.  They do show up in Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5 and Illustrator CC.  Is this a known InDesign flaw?  Any ideas for a fix... preferably one that doesn't involve moving the profiles?
    Thanks
    Bob Smith

I had the same issue when playing with my Xerox Phaser 6110 profiled with colormunki. All software except Aperture (3.0.3) recognized the profile (Color Sync, Print dialog, Preview soft-proffing, even LR 3b2). I too tried all possible locations and none worked.
Then I opened the profile in ColorSync, and edited (Profiles -> Xerox... -> Open ->'desc' tag) Ascii and unicode descriptions to read aaa.icc and did a Save As aaa.icc and there it was, available in Aperture, too.
To my great disappointment the soft-proof feature in Aperture seems to be broken for some monitor/printer profile combinations, and is compatibly broken for printing from Aperture. What happens is the resulting image is way too degraded, even beyond the (admittedly crappy) photo printing capabilities of this printer.
IOW printing the same JPG via Preview and/or soft-proofing with the printer's profile yields way more consistent results. Totally unacceptable for a €200 piece of software.

  • How to create custom color profile in OSX?

I started thinking about this after downloading the program "f.lux", which changes the color temperature of your screen depending on the time of day. It seems the program accomplishes this by adjusting your display calibration. Some controls for this already exist (you can tinker with them in preferences>display>color) but they can't be calibrated beyond minor changes to gamma and color tempterature. In f.lux they have a "darkroom mode", which is this amazing red-on-black high-contrast effect perfectly suited for use in a darkroom. I feel like a high-contrast monochrome display could come in handy, but I want more control over the brightness and color than what this app offers. I don't see anything like that in the usual preferences, but I do see a host of various color profiles (apple rgb, adobe rgb, PAL, Pantone, and whatever else...). How do I create a completely custom profile, or edit one that exists? Where are these files stored on my computer? Are there workarounds, or any third-party apps for changing my display settings?
    All help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can't load custom camera profiles

I'm using both Lightroom 3.5 and Photoshop CS5 on a 64-bit Windowx XP-Pro system with 8GB of RAM and plenty of disk space.
I use an X-rite color checker to generate custom camera profiles whenever I do portraits or other color critical photo sessions. The camera profile is generally placed in the
    "Documents and Settings\...{user...}Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles " folder.
When I try to apply a profile in either lightroom or ACR the newely created profile is not visible in the camera profile drop-down box. When I check to see if the profile exists in the appropriate folder, it does.
I've used color profiles before and have always been able to create and select a profile. Now I'm no longer able to do this. I would prefer to not re-install all my Adobe software since then I'd have to reinstall all the updates and plug-ins.
How can I get lightroom and ACR to see these profiles and use them?

OK I figured out my problem and it seems as though it was a combination of things.
First: The X-Rite color checker can't create a profile if any of the color channels in the image are clipped. Adjusting the exposure via Camera Raw/Lightroom and saving the file as a DNG doesn't help since the changes are in metadata and not the actual raw file. I tried converting the file to a TIF after making the exposure adjustment then to a DNG, this allowed me to then save it as a DNG which the X-Rite software then allowed me to create a custom profile without errors. This new profile however, was not visible from the Camera Calibration menu.  The reason for this is that in the actual .dcp file, instead of having the camera type specified, it had TIF.
Second: The imbedded camera type (Canon 5D, Nikon D90, etc.) in the profile has to match the camera type in the metadata of the image you're trying to apply the profile to. Apparently, Lightroom/ACR, only allows you to see profiles that match the images taken by the same camera type. This makes sense since my two different bodies have different profiles. If you shoot with two different bodies you need to apply the profiles separately in lightroom. You need to sort the images by camera type then apply/sync the camera profile applicable to each camera seperately.
Third: I figured out a solution to the issue of my overexposed color checker, but unless your are comfortable with editing the binary .dcp file with a binary editor, I suggest you add  1/2 to a full stop when shooting the color checker. The problem is that red typically clips before any other color and since your meter does an 18% average (including the incident meter in the studio), it's possible to clip Red while Green and Blue are fine.

  • Are my custom color profiles invisible?

    Two questions:
    1. I have .icc profiles that I'd like to access through the finder for management purposes (toss some). If I open ColorSync I can find the profiles and see the string to said profiles, but when I navigate the string through the Finder, my profiles aren't there. Why are they invisible and can I/how do I reveal them?
Secondly and more importantly, I want to make sure my epson pro3800 is printing with the custom profile I made. I can choose it in Photoshop from a looong list (no problem) but when I'm trying to print from another app, I can't be sure it's using that driver. Again, I went to colorsync, selected 'Devices' and chose the profile that had the blue dot next to it (indicating that it was the active profile). The custom profile I wanted was not listed, but I was able to choose 'Other' and navigate to it. (my custom profiles show up in Colorsync). Great! I thought. But when I chose my custom profile, it remained hidden in the device's (pro 3800) profile list. The blue dot does not show up next to any profile now, but I assume it is being used... I can tell by clicking on the old profile and looking at the string.
So how do I get my custom profiles to show up under my pro3800's list of usable icc's??? And how do I find/manage them from the desktop (Finder)?
