Can't Delete Email - "The Folder Couldn't Be Deleted Because Of A Server Error"

Hey!
So I have a big inbox. I thought I had about 120 000 emails and I just want to bin them all. Because of the sheer volume I am having a lot of trouble. From the web site I selected all of the emails and dragged them to the trash. At first it didn't seem to work but now the emails seem to be moving to the trash and multiplying. My trash folder now has over half a million emails and my inbox still has the same number of emails as it did before.
When I try to empy the trash I get a message saying "Folder Couldn't Be Emptied: The folder couldn't be emptied because a server error occured" My icloud account is suspended now because I've exceded the limit.
This is getting rediculous. Never had this problem with Gmail.
Joel

Did you ever try to delete 120000 e-mails in Gmail?
All of your folders are in the cloud. When you move all those messages to the trash, it actually copies them to the cloud.
Probably the best thing to do is create a new account on your Mac and setup your e-mail on it. It may take some time for it to download all of the e-mail messages. When it settles down, empty your trash. Then, select large groups of messages, right click on them, and choose "Move to" > Trash > On My Mac. Then empty the trash. Repeat.
You may need to contact Apple to get your e-mail running again if you can't get that far.

What's next after hitting this dead road while setting up a new machine? I don't want to skip this step and set up another account for my laptop when I already have a WORKING Apple ID that I use constantly and is proven that I am able to log in and see my stuff NOW. Thank you for your help...

  • Updated My ipod touch 4th gen to IOS 6.1. Now everytime I try to finish the update process I get a message " Apple ID couldn't be created because of a server error"

Now everytime I try to finish the update process I get a message " Apple ID couldn't be created because of a server error. I already have an apple ID I am just trying to finish the update so I can use my ipod touch and can not figure out why I keep getting held back at this message

So I found out with alittle research that instead of entering all that info on my ipod, security questions, birthday, ect that it was much easier to just go to http://appleid.apple.com and place all that info there and save it than try the process on my ipod and it finished the update.

  • Event could not be deleted because of a server error

I entered a repeating event into my iPhone 5s calendar. It syncs with iCal on my Mac and with iCloud. Now when I attempt to change the location of the event, or even delete it, I get this:
"This event couldn't be deleted because of a server error. Please try again."
When I try to delete the event on iCal or my iPhone it says:
"Access to (event name) in (name of iCloud calendar) is not permitted. The server responded: "403" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation."
    Help please!

I have the same problem as reported in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5835990?tstart=0
I "Sent to Apple" my Reminders Problem, but so far there's no indication that Apple recognizes the problem. Everything still shows green. Does anyone know a better way to report service failures?

  • ICloud Control Panel: "Couldn't sign in because of a server error."

    iCloud Control Panel:
Installation of icloud control panel was successfull. After entering the correct Apple-ID and pw this error message appears: "Couldn't sign in because of a server error."
    Firewall is deactivated.
It worked once after the command: "netsh winsock reset" in cmd.
Since then the issue reoccures so it's impossible for me to use things like Photo Stream.
So what might be the reason for this connection problem?
    Thanks!

  • OS update 10.9.2 Can't update computer The file couldn't be saved because I don't have permission

Got my Macbook air last week
    10.9.2 is my first update
    Getting this error message
"The file couldn't be saved because you don't have permission"

Snce it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support, formerly Apple Express Lane and let them sort things out for you. BTW, many missing details, such as when are you getting that message? which kind of account are you logged into while trying to update?.

  • Setting up new Macbook and on Apple ID entry I get "Couldn't sign in because of a server error. Try signing in again."

Any suggestions on how to continue? ID and Password are defienetly correct.

I'm also experiencing the same problem. I just upgraded the OS to X on my Mac Mini, and there seems to be a problem connecting to the internet. Connected fine to my Time Capsule/Router, and the Router is seeing the internet according to my MacBook Pro on the same network (this post is evidence that I'm seeing the internet!). But when I connect to the router, I get the error message:
"Your Mac isn't connected to the internet." Try Again or Continue.
If I select Continue, when I try to sign into my iTunes account it gives me the server error message, which is presumably because it's not seeing the internet. Have tried it several times and confirmed the password is correct. Also, I can see and share screens with the Mac Mini from my MacBook Pro, so clearly the connection to the router is working as well.
    Help?

  • 'Could not Sign In' Apple ID couldn't be created because of a server error.

I recently attempted to restore my iPod and cannot get any further than the security question and terms to agree to.  My email address is [email protected]   Please help!

I just spent a week with an applecare T2 trying to figure this out, but we finally did!
It turns out that (at least in my case) I had to go to http://appleid.apple.com and re-enter my password security questions and birthday. Once I did this and tried to restore, everything worked as expected.
I should explain that, in my case, as soon as I entered my apple ID and password after choosing to restore from icloud, it would ask for my birthday and to fill out one security question. Once I did the security stuff, it no longer asked for these on the phone.
I hope this solves your problem like it did mine!

  • When I try to privately share a calendar, I get couldn't share because of a server error

When I try to privately share a calendar, I enter the e-mail address and then I get an error message of:
    Couldn't share "<calendar name>".
Your changes to this calendar couldn't be saved
because of a server error. Please try again.
If I enter a different e-mail address, it works fine. It only fails on one particular e-mail address.

THE problem is that when you give an e-mail address to share the calendar to, it MUST BE an e-mail address that is a valid Apple ID.
I had to create an Apple ID for the e-mail I was trying to share with and THEN and ONLY THEN do things work.
    Silly error message.

  • I have a Bootcamp partition on  my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do?

I have a Bootcamp partition on my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout in Disk Utility is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do? I was trying to install Windows 8.1 but apparently, this is not yet possible.
I was originally able to restore to my original Mac OSX partition using Boot Camp Assistant but then after entering Disk Utility and re-RAIDing the default RAID 1 to RAID 0 in the BootCamp partition (I suspect this is the cause of the problem but why was it defaulted to RAID 1 in the first place?!!!!), forever afterwards, I couldn't restore the single OSX partition.
Whenever I used BootCamp Assistant my choice to 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version' was greyed out. Finally I went to Disk Utility to repartition but the Macintosh HD and BootCamp disk partition functions were also greyed out (even if I started up from Recovery mode holding down option, command and 'R' and choosing Disk Utility). BootCamp Assistant gives the error message 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' with additional small script 'The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows', and DU gives the error message 'The full size of the Fusion drive is not available for repartitioning'.
What can I do to fix this problem? How can I make the Partition Layout button active in DU so I can change the partition to all OSX? I'm prepared to wipe off all my data etc to repartition and have backed up all to disk using Time Machine.

My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so.

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - Run Option #1, Repair Permissions.
