Can't delete folder in bookmarks

I tired to delete folder in bookmarks. I have tried this many different ways including signing out if sync then removing the mozilla program from my computer, then reinstalling then deleting folders but it remembers them and they show up again and again. I renamed them so I can tell the current one I want to use and that seems to of remained each time I open browser.

My Firefox 6.02 bookmarks toolbar shows the same two bookmarks repeatedly (3 times and two times) so there is no space for the favourite bookmarks I had originally. How can I delete the repeated bookmarks icons in the toolbar? I tried to drag them to trash, but without success. I could not do it from view/ toolbars/customize either.

  • Bookmarks can't delete folder favorite

I Can't delete my folder of favorite. Before I have only one (star one) folder and now I have two.

What model Mac is this on & is it booted to OS 9.2.2?
There are several ways to trash a problem file.
    1. Depress/hold the Option key & then empty the trash (this is usually used for locked files)
    2. Do a Shutdown or Restart & then empty the trash (the shutdown will close all applications)
    3. Boot up from a CD with a system & then empty the trash.
There's another way, but it's more complicated. Will provide instructions if the above don't work.

  • How can I delete the useless bookmarks icons in FF 29.01???

On my MacBook Pro, with the new FF version 29.01, every bookmark has an icon which takes up useful space. How can I delete the icons so I can see more bookmarks? Please help
    Thanks!

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    * Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist.
    * Use a plain text editor like Text Editor to create a (new) userChrome.css file in this folder (the names are case sensitive).
    * Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line.
    * Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css..

  • Can't delete old Firefox bookmarks in Safari

Trying to simply bookmark a page in Safari ; get a window that says I must keep or delete old firefox bookmarks but it won't. And I can't save any bookmarks, and can't even drag onto the bookmarks bar. What should I do?
    Thanks

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item you moved. If possible, restore it from a backup that predates the problem.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can I delete or reset bookmark data in iCloud?

How can I delete or re-set bookmark data in iCloud. I have sync'd with blank from safari, then re-loaded safari with new list. Sync to phone works fine.
Now everytime I re-enable backup to iCloud 500 duplicates are made and all old folders restored.
Reset should not be that hard to do. FFs I would be fine with a delete all button on the phone.
Deleting 1000 bookmarks one by one is ridculous.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,
If you want to delete the organisation units / positions
go to T-code PP01 and give the specific object, number and date period.
first you have to delete the relationship info type and then object, if object is TCC 1 you can't delete system give error message that TCC 1 will not be deleted.

  • Can't delete folder

    Hi folks.
I've got a 5th generation ipod, fat32 fomatted. I often use my ipod to bring some data from a to b, so i created a folder called "data". But now there always remains a file of 0Kb in the folder. Though this file actually can be deleted using the explorer, it won't dissapear. It'll be still there clicking on "data" again.
Maybe someone has experienced somthing similar.
The point is I don't wanna format the complete harddisk.
    ipod G5   Windows XP

Alright. I solved it myself. Anyone who's experiencing similar problem use this sowtware to delete invalid files:

  • Can't delete folder until I quit InDesign and Photoshop

I'm sure this has been covered but I can't find it anywhere.
I'm cleaning house; working in Windows Explorer on Windows 7. I look at files in InDesign CS5 and Photoshop CS5, close the files delete them but I can't delete the folder that contained them until I quit InDesign and Photoshop. I remember this from previous versions also.
    Is there a workaround?
    Thanks, Sidney

I have that annoying problem too, have a look at this thread.  I haven't tried that fix because the trial doesn't work on deleting files, only copying and the website is terrible.

  • How can I delete folder in Messages - Show Folder

    Hi.
I have BB9900. When I will go to Messages->Show Folder – then I see Folders  And there is some e-mail adress, inbox etc. many of them. There is also one e-mail address which is not used for me now – it’s used in past. I would like to delete that folder. How can I do that?
    Thank you in advance.

Double posting does not get a quicker response, it just upsets people and takes up more space.

  • Can't delete folder (or files in it) - VERY strange issue

ok i know there's been tons of questions about how to delete/force delete a troublesome file or folder. believe me, i searched, i've tried them all, and still, i couldn't solve it.
    here's my problem:
    a) 4 files, in a folder called "as".
    - 06Jacksons Club "Sunspot".mp3
    - 11_Novelette Conclusion" excerpt_Lisa edit.mp3
    - 16_Green Tea At Denny_s _Mary P. _Aka High Places Singer, Bassoonist, Zine-Maker, BOO - The "P" Is For Pearson_].mp3
    - 20_"Arrival In Benaras__ From Merchant-Ivory_s Film __The Guru__.mp3
    b) things i tried so far, and what happened:
    - using the terminal with sudo/rm. answers for a file: "No such file or directory".
    - using the terminal with rm/sudo to delete the whole folder:
rm: /Volumes/Untitled/as/: is a directory ... is the answer i get, and it stays there, doesnt move
    c) if i move it into trash, when i try emptying it, everything goes except for that folder and it's files inside, neither does force deleting it via the terminal make it disappear. the "crushing" noise is audible, but nothing happens. no errors or anything, it just stays there.
    d) if i click on one of the files, they disappear (!!!). if i play around in finder and come back to that folder later, they're there again. the folder itself can be normally copied, renamed, moved around on the harddisk and everything. if i duplicate the folder, the dublicate is empty, unlike the original folder.
    e) NO music player or anything else ever used those files.
    f) they are 0 bytes each.
    g) another note: the files and the folder are on an ext. harddrive. the harddrive is not faulty.
    h) i even tried deleting them from a windows computer, which keeps saying the filenames are too long or invalid, and it wont work either.
    i) the folder or the files are not locked, i have full read/write permission, i tried reinstalling several times, i also tried it from safe mode.
    j) formatting the harddisk is NOT an option.
i would be very helpful if anyone could help me with this very annoying issue. i just want to see my trashcan empty for once.
    thanks very very much!

Try booting to Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting, restart may take a long time but let it go), sometimes just doing that works. Restart normally.

  • Can i delete my exported bookmark html file after i have re imported it and merged it with my restore of my old bookmarks? Same with the json file?

I have recently reinstalled my OS on a new drive and have just successfully restored my old bookmarks and imported any new bookmarks I had saved since the OS install. I just want to know know if it is safe to delete the json file i restored from since this was on the old drive I want to format and can I also delete the html file i created by exporting my new bookmarks before i started this process?
    Marc

You can keep a backup copy of that old file or make backups of the JSON backups on the new computer.<br />
You can decide for yourself if you would have a usage for that file.<br />
If all bookmarks have been restored successfully then you won't need this backup and you can create a new backup regularly if you have modified or added bookmarks.

  • Can't delete folder I created in Home directory

I created a music folder as an alternate to iTunes in my Home directory.  Recently it started acting funny: wouldn't open in finder, wouldn't allow me to rename it, and now won't let me move or delete it.  I tried unlocking it and checked that I have read and write priveleges.  Any suggestions?

I'm guessing that Finder keeps .trash open to know wether or not files have been added to it and update the Dock icon, right? No.
The visible 'Trash' you see in the finder is the union of all your trash folders. Each volume (potentially) contains a /.Trashes/ folder at its root level. Within that there are folders with UIDs as their name, 501 being the first 'normal user' and 0 being root. Your "/.Trashes/502" means you were booted from another volume at some time. However, that trash folder is empty, as you correctly deduced.
Your "123 bytes .. /Users/name/.Trash" is not empty, however, because of the size. "123" is not a valid size, either (must be a multiple of 34). So you have directory problems on your hard disk—you need to fix that with Disk Repair, from Disk Utility while booted from your Install disk: see Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance.
You will probably see an "Invalid Link Count" message, hopefully this is not so serious that Disk Utility can't repair it, but let us know.

  • Can't delete folder/picture

Good day. I have a folder "untitled folder" on my desktop, with a single photograph inside. When I try to delete the folder to the trash, I am told I can't because I "do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items". If I try to delete just the pic inside, I am told the same thing. A couple of times I was told that the folder was in use.
I can drag the pic to the desktop and then delete it, but it remains in the folder which is interesting to me.
I have never had this happened to me before. It's not really a problem for me but has my curiosity up now. Any ideas? I have checked permissions under "get info" but I am the system admin and the only user. It shows read and write for this folder. Mac Mini Intel 2 Leopard 10.5.1
    Thanks RR1

There are actually many users in OS X, even though you may be the only human one. "System" is not you, it is the "root" or "superuser" capable of withholding privileges even from "admin" users like your initial user account. However, since read write privileges are extended to "everyone" you should be able to delete the file normally unless certain modes are set for the file or its enclosing folder, which apparently is the case here.
The Terminal command "sudo" allows any admin user to gain most of the superuser privileges, which is why DaMikki suggested the command line containing it. It isn't clear from your replies if you are using it correctly: you must enter the command starting with "sudo," then hit return, then blindly enter your password at the prompt (you will not see it echoed to the command line), then hit return for it to be accepted & the command executed.
Additionally, you must use the exact file path to the folder following "rm -R " (note the trailing space) in the command. If the file path includes any spaces (like in "untitled folder"), you must either enclose the path in quotes or "escape" the spaces in the path name with leading backslashes, as in DaMikki's example. To make this easier, you can type the command up to to the space following "rm -R " & then drag the folder from the desktop to the terminal window, which will automatically copy its path with any escapement needed. CAUTION: "sudo rm" is a very powerful command, capable of permanently deleting almost any file in the OS without confirmation. It is imperative that you enter the command correctly, especially no extra, unescaped spaces in the file path name, to prevent deleting the wrong file or files.
If you have done this & the file is still not deleted, double check that the path name is correct. For example, if the folder is named anything other than "untitled folder," including an extra leading or trailing space ("untitled folder "), the command won't delete it.
You should see an error message if the command doesn't execute. If so, please tell us what it is.

  • Can't delete apps or bookmarks from home screen

When I press and hold on an app or bookmark icon on my home screen, all of the icons start to wiggle, but none of them have an x that would allow me to delete them. What should I do??

If you can't remember setting one then have you got an Exchange email account on the iPad ? If so then you could try removing that account and see if the restrictions code is also removed.
If not and you can't remember the restrictions code, then if it wasn't on the iPad when you last backed up then you can try restoring to that backup and it should be removed. If it was on the iPad when you last backed up then the only way to remove it is to reset the iPad back to factory defaults and you can then re-sync your content back to the iPad - you won't be able to restore to the backup as that will keep the code in place.
