Can't delete mistakenly created directories in Network

Somehow a partial address entry (236.96.12) was created as a read-only directory in the Network directory. The other part of the address, 68, appeared as a read-only directory within the first directory.
I have tried both sudo and a root shell to remove the directories. In each case the system responds that both directories are "read-only file system." I attempted using chmod to write enable the user rights, but I get the same response.
How can I delete these two directories?

From my standpoint, there are no stupid questions on this one.
The uchg flag is not set.
How can I tell if the directories are locked? (There are no files in either directory.)
When I enter "Single User Mode" (cmd-s) nothing has been mounted so the directories are not there. Any suggestions for what I can do here to track the boot process to discover where the offense occurs? (I am not very experienced in this, so let's go easy.)

You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage......

Can't delete a PDF on a network drive when someone has it open???

I am trying to like PDFs and the benefit they provide, but someone please explain to me why a
file that is meant to be a read-only file, cannot be deleted if someone has it open. Everyone
has read-only access to this drive where the PDF resides, yet when someone opens it, I cannot delete the file. Why
is this, and is there a workaround? Or at the very least, the ability to see WHO has it open? I am working with Excel files, and
it seems much easier to leave it in Excel for this very reason. At least if someone tries to open it, it forces them to open it in read-only

Read-only only means they can't save any changes.
Excel probably creates a local copy of the file and allows the users on work
on that, while the real file remains unlocked.
Anyway, I'm not an Acrobat engineer so all of this is just guesswork.

How in gods name can you delete a TM sparsebundle on network drive??????

have multiple devices TM backups on disk attached to airport; ran out of space to do TM backup for new laptop; trying to delete one of the TM backups from an older device to create space for a backup for the new device; see all the sparsebundles for all devices; but the freakin TM backup won't freakin delete .... Finder just freakin sits there cranking for hours and hours.....***?

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
If you're running a Managed Library then you need to move it from the NAS.
If you're running a Referenced Library then there is no way to delete the files with iPhoto. It will only delete fiiles that it manages. The correct procedure is to delete the files from iPhoto and then root them out of your photo storage.

¿Will make a delete and create a new temp.dbf increase perfomance?

I have a 32GB temp file. I don't understand so much what really mean that temp.dbf must be so big.

Temporary tablespace (physically tempfile) is sused for sorting operations, like result set ordering, joins and etc. Hopefully, your tempfile was in autoextend mode and its' size increased as soon as there was request for sorting operations which did not fill into memory.
You can drop and recreate the temp tablespace as it is not related any database consistency structure. They are only sort segments.

Airport Extreme,I created a network named "net1" I also created a "guest network",I was having slow connection speeds from my airport extreme to my laptop(macbook pro OSX 10.6.8) I changed channels and created "net1(5 GHZ)" can I delete "net1" completely?

Latest version of the airport utility for snow leopard is indeed 5.6.1
Open the airport utility, about .. and check what version you are running.
The very latest airport utility is 6.3 and only can be installed on Lion or Mountain Lion computers.
The firmware latest version is 7.6.3
which makes it all a bit confusing.

You can't delete an iCloud account. You can sign-out, or remove the account from devices, computer or related services.

Can't select , edit or delete extra home directories in WGM - User - Home

I am trying to get network user accounts set up on a 10.5.8 server. I have set up the server as an OD master, and created the accounts in LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. However, users can not connect from bound client computers. Logging in from >console, gives an error: "no home direcory "Network/Servers/server.com/disk1/home1/username" Double checking WFGM, shows that the home directory exists, but also under WGM -> Home, there several home paths in addition to the correct one, that I can not delete. Two are groups, neither of which the user belongs to.

The last directory is the correct one, and it is the only one where the "minus" and "pensile" icons (delete and edit) are not grayed out.

OS X Server will not work properly unless DNS is properly configured. Have you done that?

Can we delete network header and then use it again under a WBS?

I have an issue where user wrongly create network header and activity not under WBS/project. The situation :
There is a project / WBS called ABCD. User require a network header ID called RSKA005100S1 under the WBS. However, user create the master network header RSKA005100S1 not under WBS. How can we assign network RSKA005100S1 to be assigned in the WBS ABCD, coz when i tried to create the same network, it says order already exist.

i hope network header is not released and no cost posting done in your case !!
Select Network Header RSKA005100S1 and goto assignments tab. assign the WBSE ABCD here, then system shifts the network header assignment to ABCD automatically. No need to delete existing one and creating new one under ABCD.

I received an ipod touch 5th gen for Christmas. The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my touch have created ghost songs. They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play. I can't delete them

I can't delete them. I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod. It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?
I had no problems with my ipod touch 4th, which I had for years.   Any help would be great.

How can I use Airport Express to create a standalone Wi-Fi network without Internet Access so I can browse web pages on the local network? I will be using MAMP as my server (Apache)

I would like to create my own Wi-Fi standalone network at an upcoming tradeshow where there will be NO internet access.
Currently, I run and develop sites on my iMac use MAMP to manage my sites locally. Using MAMP, I run my sites as though they are on the internet although everything is local.
I purchased an Airport Express hoping I could create a standalone network so that the iMac would broadcast its website to whatever device connects to it such as my iPhone, iPad and MacBookPro.
However, after setting up the network successfully (I have a green light on the Airport Express, and there is NO internet going through it), I am not able to go any further by logging into the iMac's websites from the other machines. Form my MacBookPro Finder, I can look at files and folders using afp://10.0.1.2, from the Find/Go/Connect to Server utility, but I can't browse the website that is running on the iMac via the Safari browser.
Can anyone help me configure my MacBookPro (or iPad, or iPhone) to run the website on the iMac when they are all on the same network?

Does someone already create a new Wi-Fi network using its TC connected by Ethernet on a modem/router device ? How do you set up the DHCP (and NAT) ? Which range did you use ?
This is easy enough to do..
Plug the TC directly into a computer.. without other connections to do the setup.
Using the newly installed 5.6 utility.
Bridge the TC.
Create a wireless network.
This is an older screen shot and I would set security to WPA2 Personal only not WPA/WPA2 Personal as shown above.
I do recommend you use wireless names that are short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
Update the TC..
Now plug it into the modem router.. it will be a part of the network without doing NAT and DHCP itself.. which you do not want.. that leads to double NAT issues.. but it is a WAP that provides access to devices on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands directly to the main router.
