Can't delete "Null" fonts in Font Favorites

After buying a new mini and porting over my settings, apps and documents and so forth from the old one, I ended up with a confusing font situation. Fonts that were assigned to me as a user were now needed by the "new" user. I use Linotype Font Explorer, and had to delete many duplicate (phantom) fonts once I had moved the bulk of my font files to a Shared fonts folder.
Now, I notice that in the Apple Fonts panel, I have some unwanted and unasked-for "Favorites", namely:
(null) 0.0 pt.
(null) 0.0 pt.
(null) 0.0 pt. and
(null) 0.0 pt.
I drag them off the Fonts palette and get a "poof!" cloud, but they persist in the list. How can I get rid of them for good? TIA.

I got it.
Evidently, the forward slashes used in the name of the collection, 'System/Library/Fonts', is a no-no.
Once I renamed without forward slashes and deleted, it stuck.
...or at least it hasn't returned yet.

  • How can I delete null values from List Item?

    Hi Friends,
I used List item for field job_Type, I entered values in List item at design time through property pallet. When I run form I will see null values in this List Item.
How can I remove these null values from the List?
    Best regards,
    Shahzad

    Dear Shahzad,
It can be removed by adding the following code in the When-new-Form-Instance.
    Set_item_property('List name', required, property_true);
:block_name.list_name := <put your default value here>; (If you didn't oput the default value, then you will get some problem and the cursor may not navigate away from the list).

  • Deleting a font from the favorites collection (in Mail)

This is certainly something I can live with if I have to but while I can easily add fonts to my "favorites" collection I see NO way to get rid of them. None. Going to "add to favorites" does not give the option to remove from favorites. As usual, Apple Help is no help

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I didn't explain the situation properly. When in Mail, if I access Fonts (Apple T) I see, in the Collection area, a list of 12 Collections, beginning with "All Fonts" and ending with "Web". Numbers 2&3, between "All Fonts" and "Chinese", are "Favorites" and "Recently Used". There are several interesting things to note about these two Collections (in addition to the problem I first described). For one thing, if I select either of them then "Family" becomes the only category to the right ("Typeface" goes away). That makes sense, I suppose. Also, if I select either of them the "-" option goes away, so those two Collections are not deleteable. If I select "Recently Used" there is never anything in it and, finally, if I go to "Manage Fonts" those two Collections, Favorites and Recently Used, are not seen.
So, I now have three fonts in that "Favorites" Collection, one of which is, in fact, my favorite and two of which are not. There is no way to remove the two non-favorites from that dialogue box. They will not drag anywhere and "Add Fonts" option does simply that. There is no option to remove. If I go to "Manage Fonts" the "Favorites" (and the "Recently Used") Collection is not seen. If I go to ~/Library/Fonts/ that's all there are-fonts. If I go to ~/Library/FontCollections/ then I see nine collections (Chinese through Web) plus one named "com.apple.Favorites.collection". Sounds as though we're getting close! But, sadly, these aren't folders, they're Collections. If I try to open on it tries to open with Adobe Bridge which is less than helpful.
Do you have any other thoughts? As I said, I can live (long and prosperously) with this. It just isn't the way it should be.
    Thanks,
    gerard

  • File retains font info, how can I delete it?

When I open a file, FontAgent Pro will try and auto-activate fonts that I HAD used on the file, but am no longer.
It looks like Photoshop is somehow hanging onto the old font info.
Can I delete that information from the file?
It is bothersome, because FontAgent Pro keeps turning on fonts that I don't really need.
I clear my computer font cache, but I want to clear the file font cache.

I'm not sure what the layers panel will show you, but here goes.
I just tried to open this file and FontAgentPro told me it was auto-activating the font St. Nicholas.
The font was probably used at some point in the files life, but it is not used on any of the type layers
    Here's the Layers Panel.

  • I have iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

Hi, I have the  iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

    Hello Glittergirl68,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the function to reseize the Font in an iBook is not functioning properly.
I recommend a few things here. First close all the apps that are running in the background:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
When you have done that, restart the phone, and try again.
If the issue persists, I would follow these steps from the article:
iOS: Troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702
    2. Check for app updates
You can setup apps to update automatically in Settings > iTunes & App Store, but make sure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
If  prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the app updates.
Note: Some apps may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You can also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
    4. Restart the app
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app.
    5. Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
    6. Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-right corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and then download it again.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Font Size for Favorites column too small in Leopard

I just installed Leopard and find that the font used in the Favorites column is smaller than that used by Tiger and is too small for me to read. I see that the View Options allow font size to be changed for the file and folder names in finder windows, but I can't find anywhere to set the font of the Favorites column. Can anyone help me with a hack?

    Guess not. Thanks anyway.

  • Can FontBook fix a missing screen font?

I am having problems with my Helvetica font. It shows up fine in FontBook(the preview). Though, it shows up jaggedy and bitmapped looking in all my programs including QuarkXpress and Photoshop. Is there something I can do in FontBook to fix this? If not, what do I need to look for to fix this? There are a few font folders I found in my harddrive, though I do not know what to look for or install? I was kind of hoping there would be a quick fix for this in FontBook. I do have the original helvetica font folder saved on a disc. Should I delete what I have on my harddrive and just reinstall it? I am kinda scared to do that since Helvetica is used in most of my design work. By the way, I am on 10.4.5

Is the helvetica you are using different from the one that came with the computer? Also how did you add it to FontBook? I would also check fontbook and see if their is a font conflict, it will have a black bullet next to the font name if it is conflicting with another version.
I would also suggest getting a different font manager if you are using alot of fonts. In my experience FontBook freaks out when it has too many fonts in there, and a program like Quark can also be very finniky about fonts. What version of Quark are you using?
OSX itself is VERY particular about fonts, I would also suggest searching the discussions for postings by Kurt Lang, who seems to be the font Guru around here. He might even chime in here in a while, but don't just start deleting fonts out of the various font folders you find on the hardrive or it WILL cause you grief.
Here is one article that Kurt wrote that should shed some light on fonts being used in OSX...It says Panther but is applicable to Tiger as well.

  • How to split constants from "new Font(null, Font.BOLD | Font.ITALIC)" ?

    Hi,
    Font has 3 constants for the style: BOLD, ITALIC and PLAIN;
We can construct an Font instance like that:
    Font font = new Font(null, Font.BOLD | Font.ITALIC);
The constuctor allow us to mix of the constants.
Can anybody guide me how to split the BOLD and ITALIC ? I wanna to declare few constants and allow user to mix of some of them.
    Thanks.

Sorry, you are misunderstanding of what I ask.
    I put it simpler,
I've few constants to describe Apple:
size (BIG, SMALL), color (RED, GREEN) and etc.
There is one method "setDescribe(int d)", u can code like that "setDescribe(RED | BIG)".
Then, how to split the parameter " i " and retrieve RED and BIG from it ?
    Thanks.

  • Deletion of unwanted system fonts

Is there any utility out there that helps with the deletion of unwanted system fonts (like the Hiraginos and AquaKanas etc) by checking to make sure that they are not needed by any apps? I've read a few papers on the subject, but after deleting some fonts I've had some unexpected app crashes.

    Hi, W.B.
First, it's Dr. Smoke, or Doc as my friends call me, or simply D.S. for brevity.
For the question of fonts and Entourage, I suggest you search or post on the "Entourage" group you can find on the Microsoft Mac Support - Newsgroups page. These are Google Groups with active participation from MS Entourage users, including a variety of expert users.
Be sure to state the version of Entourage you are using if you post there.
I don't mean to send you somewhere else, but I've found numerous answers there for folks with questions related to MS products. Accordingly, it has often proved to be the first, best place to look for answers to questions such as you are asking. Likewise, I do not use Entourage.
    Good luck!
