Can't delete old version of itunes,  can't find itunes.msi file

i am trying to update my windows and quick time, i have tried restarting my computer at an earlier date and removing itunes from the add and remove programs option. i have read older posts regarding the microsoft untility cleaup tool and it no longer exists.

These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

When you update iTunes, older versions are replaced. If you didn't update, go to Software Update

  • Deleting Old Versions of iTunes?

I have multiple versions of iTunes on my computer and I'm wondering if I can delete the older ones after installing the new updates. It seems to me that all they are doing is taking up space, but I don't want to delete them if it will cause problems with iTunes or my iPod. It may seem like a dumb question, but I just wanted to be sure.

I'm sorry, I'm a complete tool and forgot my password and all that stuff and didn't get around to making a new account until tonight.
But anyway, I guess what I mean is under my program files it has iTunes version 1.1, iTunes 1.2, iTunes 1.3, etc. (not the actual versions but hopefully you get the point) as well as iPod for Windows 2005-05-05, iPod for Windows 2005-10-10, iPod for Windows 2006-02-02, etc... I'm just wondering if I can delete the older versions without deleting all the files I actually have in iTunes/on my iPod.
Once again, sorry for being so dumb and not responding to my own question, but if anybody could help out that would be fantastic.

  • HT1926 I am trying to delete an old version of itunes in my ibook G4 so I can install the newest version and can not delete the old version because it says I don't have enough privileges, help?

I am trying to delete an old version of itunes in my ibook G4 so I can install the newest version and can not delete the old version because it says I don't have enough privileges, help?

iTunes is not installing because its incompatible with your OS. When installing the correct version the new version will update the older version, there is no need to uninstall first.
The last version of  iTunes compatible with OSX 10.4 is iTunes 9.2.1
You can down load iTunes 9.2.1 here:

  • I have an old Mac laptop that Apple no longer supports -- so, I can't download the latest version of iTunes. Also, I got a new iPhone that won't communicate with my old version of iTunes. How do I transfer my music from my laptop to my new phone?

Old version of iTunes on laptop won't transfer music to my new iPhone.

Your profile shows you are running Lion (10.7.5). If this is the case, you certainly can sync with a new iPhone. If you are not running Lion, you will need to upgrade to at least Snow Leopard (10.6.8). See below to purchase.
