Can't delete photos in smart album view

Assuming we all know how smart albums work, let's jump to why I can't delete a photo from a smart album. In all other views, it seems, I can delete images. When I'm scanning through 500 pictures tagged with Christmas in my Christmas Smart Album and come across one I want to delete, I can't do so. What's worse, going back to Photos view and trying to find that picture to delete it is almost impossible when you're looking through a library of 6,000 images.
Am I missing something? Do I really have to find a work around for this? Why has Apple left out DELETE from Smart Albums?

To delete a photo that's in a smart album you need to use the CommandOptionDelete key combination to move it to the trash. If you just want to remove the photo from the album you will need to change on that photo the feature that the smart album is set to look for.

  • How can I delete photos and or albums from my iphone without having to delete them in all locations?  I have some pictures in an album that i want to remove them from but when I try it asks do I want to delete picture  from all loc

    I have pictures in albums on my iphone.  I want to delete them from one album but when I try it asks to delete the picture from all locations.  I only want to delete it from 1 album.  Is this possible to do?

    You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll.  If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo.  This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

  • Can't move photos to smart album

    I have created a smart album based on face recognition, But I am falling to move new photos to the album by dragging them or by copying them.
    Also, I can't see the album name when choosing "albums" from the "add to" button.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Using iPhoto version 11.
    Thanks,
    Amnon

    No idea. What is the smart album criteria? Do the new photos match it?

  • This is a bug? I can't delete photos from "Edited" album

    When you apply a caption to a photo and didn't edited this photo,  it will remain as "Edited" even after clearing the caption. In this case there is no option to revert the photograph and you may continue to see the "Edited" album until either deleting the iPhoto app and reinstalling to reset the data or till Apple updates the app and possibly fixes this bug. I use the latest version of the iphoto from https://itunes.apple.com/app/iphoto/id497786065

    but you said it's not in iPhoto. Where is it?
    Sorry, my post got corrupted when posted
    You have to do the reverert to original in the edited album, not in iPhoto.
    I meant to write:
    You have to do the revert to original in the "edited" album, not in in any other iPhoto album.
    Click the "Edit" button in the "Edited" album.
    Then The cogwheel should appear. If not, add some adjustments to force the "revert" option to be show, Press it. The button may appear to be unresponsive - never mind.
    Now add again a default caption. Go to the "Add Caption" field, add again a caption, click done.
    Go to the "Add Caption" field once again, click the "x" beside the caption field, click done.
    In "Edit" mode you should be able to see the toolbar with the cogwheel to the left and the "Revert to Original" button.
    At the top of the window you should be able to enter a dummy caption, to bring up the "x" to clear it again.
    If the photo does not vanish from the edited album, it may still have a tag - chrck the icons overlayed on the photos, if you see a baggage label.

  • HT201302 i can not delete photos from photo library from my iPhone 4

    i can not delete photos from photo library and onother folder contain same photo in the photo library from my iPhone 4
    thnx

    Delete them the same way you put them there.  The sync process.  Deselectg the album in itunes and sync.
    Photo Album contains ALL synced photos and you can also view those exact same photos, not duplicates, from the albums.

  • FAQ: Can I delete photos that were added to GroupPix?

    FAQ: Can I delete photos that were added to GroupPix?
    Answer:
    Yes, the person that added a photo can also delete it. Additionally, the host of the event can delete any photo. Contributors cannot delete photos that other people took, however.

    In the same way the photos were transferred from your Mac - via the iTunes sync process.
    If you use iPhoto, deselect the Events or Albums you want removed from your iPhone under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync, etc.

  • When I edit and/or delete photos from an album in iPhoto is there a way to make that what happens in the folder in finder?

    When I edit and/or delete photos from an album in iPhoto is there a way to make that what happens in the folder in finder? I am new to Mac. I've updated the operating system and iPhoto.

    If your iPhoto Advanced preference pane is setup like this
    all photos you import into the library are COPIED into the library.  Thus those photos in the folders outside of iPhoto are redundant and can be deleted to save space on your hard drive. There no need to keep those copies in the folders.
    If you do have your advance preferences set as shown above you can access your photos for use outside of iPhoto according to the following User Tip by Terence Devlin which is the best treatise on how to access photos (for use outside of iPhoto):  How to Access Files in iPhoto.  Otherwise you access your photos from within iPhoto.

  • After loading my photos from my iPhone to my mac iPhotos it prompts me to delete photos from my iPhone.  When I agree to this my photos never delete.  my iPhone is out of storage due to I can't delete photos.  What am I doing wrong?

    After loading my photos from my iphone to my mac iphoto it gives me the option to delete photos on my phone.  When I click to delete the photos do not delete from my phone.  I am out of storage due to I can not delete photos from my iphone.

    That problem is probably with your iPhone and not with iPhoto.
    But try to download again to your Mac, this time use "Image Capture" instead of iPhoto.
    Launch Image Capture from your applications folder.
    Connect your phone to a USB port.
    Select all the photos in your camera roll  to be deleted.
    Then press the "delete" key.
    If there are photos on your iPhone that have been synced with iTunes, they can only be deleted by syncing again and deselecting the albums:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
    If even Image Capture cannot wipe your Camera Roll, you need to trouble shoot your iPhone. Try the three R's, reset, restart, restore. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281

  • I can't delete photo files to make room for iOS 8.

    I can't delete photo files to make room for iOS 8.

    Ive had this and solved it an entirely different way very quickly.
    Connect the ipad to the imac (i assume its an imac);
    Fire up itunes;
    while thats happening create a new folder called EMPTY in your Pictures folder on the imac;
    go back to itunes;
    select the ipad;
    go to photos on the ipad;
    select SYNC FROM SELECTED FOLDER;
    select your EMPTY folder;
    then hit SYNC and the photos / videos in photo albums / the albums will all instantly disappear.
    We had 7.98 Gb of syncd fotos and videos on the ipad and tried all the more lengthy [and unsuccessful] ways suggested elsewhere.
    There was so little space we couldnt u/d the IOS !
    OK, so we werent bothered about keeping the fotos that were on the ipad (they'd all been filed in iphot on the imac so not 'lost').
    Nice to find a solution for yourself when you're a silver surfer in your mid '60's

  • Where is trash can for deleting photos on ipad

    my husband and I bought ipads and he has a trash can to delete photos and I do not.  His is 32  and mine is  a 64.  How do I see my trash can?

    Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
    Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.
