Can't Delete photos under Recent Photos (box/yellow outline as icon)

I have been trying to figure things out on my iMac (it is new!) (Just a note, I migrated all info from my eMac w/ a firewire)...
So, I actually have 2 questions:
1-In iPhoto, under recent photos, there is a box icon outlined in yellow. If I click on it, eight old photos come up. I cannot seem to figure out how to delete these. I have tried dragging them individually to the trash, but they bounce back. I tried to drag the entire icon/folder, but nothing happens.
How do I delete these?
Also,
I have the iPhoto icon in the dock, but I can't get it in the Finder. If I try to drag it to the Finder, it disappears entirely.
When it was in the Finder, it was actually an icon of a person's head (like the public profile icon) and it said iPhoto.app next to it.
It didn't have the camera icon.
Thanks for the help in advance

You don't. That's a Smart Album. It's just showing photos that were recently accessed. The files are in your Library. You need to go there to delete them. If that Smart Album is not updating, try delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

Right click on the icon in the dock and choose 'Show In Finder'.

How can i delete a video in photos of ipad 2? there is no delete icon!

They are deleted in the same way as photos, which are deleted by : only photos/videos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/wesites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo/video in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos/videos that were synced from your computer are deleted by removing them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.

i forgot my password, how can i delete password byt save photos if i didnt sync my ipad with pc?

You will need to try to restore your iDevice from the same computer that you most recently synced to.
    Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If you can't do the restore then you will need to try Recovery Mode.
    Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    Follow the instructions very carefully.

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer, and on the Photos tab de-select those folders that you no longer want on the iPad - they can't be deleted directly on the iPad. If you no longer want any synced photos on your iPad then you can select and sync just an empty folder.

While browsing eBay, when I watch or bid on an item, and later view it again, many inches of white space appears before item appears. If I delete the clear recent history box, the pages will come up as they should for several times, then go back to a lot of extra white space. How can I prevent this? Thank you, Rick in English

    As stated in 1.:
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
Obviously, it will not harm your computer provided you follow the instructions. However, if you don't post your results in the thread where you were given those instructions, then the person helping you cannot help you further. As he asks at the end, "please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created."

Unfortunately, there is no easy way.  Delete just as you would any other message that you don't want.  It's probably just as well that there is no universal deletion capability.  I can see many of us committing a major "oops."

  • I am moving all my iphoto pictures to seperate folders outside of iphoto.  I have found iphoto slighlty cumbersome.  After I move all pictures from iphoto to a separate file how can I delete all the iphoto photos without deleting the ones in the file?

I am moving all of my iphoto pictures into seperate folders becuase iphoto is great, but a bit cumbersome when I need to transfer all the pictures to a external drive.
    1) After I move all pictures, how can I delete the iphoto pictures without destroying the ones I have in files
    2) how can I ensure that I have sucessfully captures all the iphoto files so when I delelte from iphoto I have not forgotten any
    3) is there a way to determine what duplicate pictures I have?
    Thanks!

If you Control click on the iPhoto Library, you'll see a list of folders - one named "Masters". Inside of this folder are all of your original, high-res photos. You can copy them to other folders if you like.
You can't delete iPhoto pics without deleting the ones in the iPhoto Library.
You can copy all of your Masters pics out of the Library, ensuring that you won't forget any.
I don't know of anyway to determine if there are duplicate photos - most (if not all) have a unique name assigned.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • How can I delete all of my photos at once?

I need more space on my iPhone (5, recently upgraded to iOS 8), so I need to delete all of my photos (which my Mac says have all been uploaded to iPhoto). When I try to use the "delete all" option in iPhoto, nothing actually happens.
    Thanks!

I'm afraid there is no way to mass delete your emails. You will have to do to from a web browser.
The only way to do it it if you have a Jailbroken phone.
Sorry, but you just have to delete them slowly :(
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

I tried this several times, it did not work for me.  iTunes asks me if I want to delete photos on my iphone that were previously synched, I said yes, hit "apply" and then "sync" and it tried to sync, but it went very quickly and did not delete any photos.  Any ideas?
Adding your comment to a thread marked solved is not likely to get you any answers. Also adding the same comment to multiple threads will not help either. If you have a specific problem with respect to the Photos app, create a new question. Give your question a short but succint title. In the body of the question explain clearly what your problem is, what you have done already to correct it and what, if any, error messages you received.

  • Can I make sub-events in iPhoto? Can I delete originals of imported photos?

    1) Is there any way I can make sub-events? I have pictures of family members, grouped by one event per member. Is it possible to have a Family event, and then sub events for each member? Is this better addressed through albums?
    2) When I download an image from the web to my hard drive and later import it to iphoto, can I delete the originally saved file without affecting the image's place in iphoto?
    Thank you for your help,

No - there are no sub events - events are time based not subject based
Is this better addressed through albums?
Yes - or keywords and smart albums - what you want is a family folder with albums (smart or otherwise) for each member
    2) When I download an image from the web to my hard drive and later import it to iphoto, can I delete the originally saved file without affecting the image's place in iphoto?
Yes - assuming that you are using the default (and highly recommended) "copy items to the iPhoto library" preference being checked (if it is not then you can not delete the "original")
It is not a bad idea to back up your originals and also you should make regular backups of the iPhoto library - and use Old Toad's library6.iPhoto database file backup very often while you are loading and editing photos

  • HT4993 How can I delete pictures form my "Photo Library" album?

I updated my Iphone 4 today and now there is a new album called "photo library", I cant delete it or delete pictures from it, I dont want this pictures on my phone, they are taking some memory space and I would like to get rid of them...help!

You can turn off photo stream on the iPad via Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream . Individual photos can't be deleted according to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486 :
Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro with iPhoto version 9.5.1 Can I delete more that one photo at a time?  Thanks!!

I have Mac Book Pro with iPhoto version 9.5.1.  Is there a way to delete more than one photo at a time?  Thanks!!!

    Hi LarryJackie,
When you go into Photos (or an Album or Event), click on the first photo you want to delete. If you want to delete a whole selection of photos in a row, hold down the Shift key, and then click on the last photo in the section you want to delete. All of the photos will be selected. Then click on Photos in the top menu and click on Move to Trash.
If you want to select photos that are not in a row, then click on the first photo, then hold down the Command key, then click on other photos you want to select. Keep the Command key held down until you have selected all of the photos you want. Then click on Photos in the top menu and then Move to Trash.
