Can't delete podcast from nano

My wife has a nano and now has a podcast on it that we can't get off.
On the iTunes screen, she has a "D's iPod" node and a "D's iPod Selection" node. The "D's iPod Selection" has all the songs she wants on the iPod. She then right-clicks on the "D's iPod" node and picks update. That should update the nano with all the songs from the "D's iPod Selection" and remove any songs not listed from the iPod.
The podcast in question shows up in the "D's iPod" but not in the "D's iPod Selection". However, when she does an update, it doesn't remove the podcast. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Delete the podcast itself from your Podcasts item in the source list. Also, go through the library, and delete the episodes. Make sure they're removed from any list that the iPod updates from.

  • How can I delete podcasts from the Apple TV podcast menu on my television?

There are podcasts that I prefer my kids not know I listen to...they are gone from iTunes yet they appear on the Apple TV menu and I can't seem to figure out how to delete them?  Is it possible?  Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to delete podcasts from your Apple TV that have already been deleted from iTunes. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the following post and using the troubleshooting steps within.

  • Deleting podcasts from nano 6th gen

I am recently unable to delete podcasts from my nano.  i have set it to synch manually and have been adding and deleting podcasts for months without trouble.  When I delete podcasts from the device list when connected to my macbook it shows as successfully deleted.  however, the podcast remain on the nano itself.  The only thing I've done recently to is add podcasts, again, manually, from my other computer- an IMac.  Any ideas?

You must configure them to no longer sync to your device via the iPod's Podcast configuration pane in iTunes.
If you manually manage the iPod's contents, you must manually delete the podcasts from the Nano via the iTunes interface.  Choose the small black triangle next to your iPod under Devices to reveal a submenu of content.  Locate the podcasts category and select it.  Locate the desired podcast, highlight it, and hit the Delete key.

  • Can't delete podcasts from Ipod Touch

I have an Ipod Nano and an Itouch, and I manually manage the podcasts on both of them. The Nano works fine. On the Itouch, I can connect my Itouch, go into podcasts under my device, and delete them, but they aren't deleted from my Itouch. However, they no longer show up in Itunes. It seems bizarre that Itunes not only can't delete them, but actually thinks that they are gone from the Itouch, when they are clearly still there. Any suggestions for how to get the Itouch to work like the Nano?

I have this same problem and I have to say, reformatting your iPod is a terrible solution. Actually, I don't know that it qualifies as a solution at all. Obviously if you delete everything and then just put back the files you want, you can delete the buggy podcasts. The hope is that there's some way to do it without wasting the extraordinary time and effort that it would take to reload an iPod--especially if your HD isn't big enough to save all the sources.
It's absolutely ridiculous that this software has such a silly bug and yet, because of the holy Apple code of keeping everything closed--no access to the files in any usable way, no third party analysis/repair software, no advanced settings in iTunes and absolutely zero management functionality on the iPod--you end having to delete everything whenever anything goes wrong. What kind of crappy computer product allows for only one way of addressing all the problems (namely nuking your device)?

  • Can't delete podcasts from iPod Touch!!!  They still remain using space!!

Ok ok, look. I can make them not SHOW UP anymore, but they are STILL ON THE IPOD.
If I make a smart playlist where podcast=true and move it to the ipod, i can SEE they are still on the ipod!! But you cannot delete files from the smart playlist!!
I dont want to delete them from iTunes because I want to still have them archived on my computer.
If i deselect all podcasts from the sync menu, then sync, they are only removed from the podcasts display on the ipod... the actual files are still taking up space on the ipod
APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS. some of us WANT manual control of the files, not just sync this and that.
right now, my ONLY solution I can find is to restore the ipod, reload all my music i want to keep, reload my apps, etc etc.
ALL I WANT TO DO IS DELETE SOME PODCASTS!!!
    Does ANYONE have a workaround?!?!

just to say, you can delete items from itunes, and still have them stored on your computer, just click 'keep file' and it will be removed from itunes yet still be stored in the podcast file (or songs etc.)
i'm not sure whether this will solve your problem, and i haven't had much experience with smart playlists, so i'm not sure how to get them to do what you want, but I have some podcasts that i want to sync automatically, and others that i don't. last night i worked out how to do it.
    1. my ipod is set to sync manually
    2. under the podcasts tab, it is set to sync '10 least recent unplayed' (there are several different options to choose to your requirements) episodes of selected podcasts.
    3. in the podcasts boxes, the ones i want to sync are checked.
    4. these now sync to my ipod.
    5. but, because i am manually managing my songs etc. i can still drag and drop any others that i want to my ipod.
but i'm a bit confused. you are using smart playlists to transfer your podcasts to your ipod. as i say, i'm not too familiar with smart playlists, but is there a reason why you don't just drag and drop them to the ipod/sync them using just the podcast syncing feature?

  • How can I delete podcasts from my Mac without them deleting on my iPhone?

I'm trying to free up some space on my office Mac, and there's only one podcast out of several I actually listen to at work. So I deleted one of the other, bigger podcasts from the list in iTunes.
Unfortunately, when I go into the Podcasts app on my iPhone, that podcast has now been deleted from there too. How can I unlink them so that the podcasts I have on my iPhone don't automatically download on my Mac?

when I delete photos in iPhoto will it delete the same ones on my iPhone via iCloud or the next time I plug in my phone?
If you send the photos to your phone using iTunes Photo Sync (iOS: Syncing with iTunes), yes then the albums  and photos that are no longer available on your mac, will be remove from your synced IOS device. To keep them permanently on your phone, save them to the Camera Roll.

  • Trying to delete podcast from nano (5th) but only seems to have disappeared from iTunes

My daughter set up my nano a few years ago by putting running songs on, which was all I wanted it for then . Am thinking about getting another Apple device so have been teaching myself how iTunes works and also other things about this neglected nano.  I decided to try downloading a podcast through  iTunes, which worked fine, with it showing in the podcast library and then transferred it on to the nano where it appeared correctly in the Podcast menu and played.
I don't actually want that podcast (was just using it to trial the process ) so tried to delete it from the nano.  I thought I had followed instructions gathered from here (the user manual wasn't clear) which said I had to do it via iTunes.
Result: I have managed to delete the  podcast from the library (shows as nothing in there) but it is still on the nano.
Woudl be very  grateful for help on where I go from here!

Further report: I reset the nano, deleted everything and reloaded the music. It worked  - no lingering unwanted  podcast - but surely there must be a proper way to do this ?

  • Can I remove podcasts from my iPhone and keep them on my computer?

Can I delete podcasts from iTunes from my iPhone but keep them on my MacBook Pro?  If so, how?  Thank you.

    Hello TNlaw,
This can be done by subscribing to the desired podcast in iTunes on your computer, then deleting the podcast from your iPhone.

  • Can I delete podcast files from iTunes?

I am running iTunes11.2.2 on an iMac, OS X Lion. In older versions of iTunes I could use iTunes' Delete function to remove a podcast from the iTunes library; a dialog box would display confirming removal from iTunes, then a secondary dialog box would display asking if I wanted to keep the file or move it to the trash. This function is similar to the workflow that displays if you want to delete a song from the iTunes library.
Over the past several versions of iTunes I have found that I cannot delete podcast files from the iTunes interface. I can remove the podcast from iTunes, but no dialog displays asking me if I want to keep the file or move the file to the trash. I must now navigate to the file's home in Finder and manually delete it from there.
Does anyone know if this delete functionality was removed altogether? There may be a setting in iTunes that I am missing but I need help being pointed in the right direction. It is frustrating that Apple would seemingly take away this function for podcasts, yet leave it in place for other media types in the iTunes library.

  • How can I delete albums from my ipod nano 9th gen

How can I get Ipod nano to display Albums when connected to itunes?
How can I delete Albums from my ipod.....either using the device stand alone or when connected via itunes?
Both the above actions are easy using other devices and software ( Samsung MP3 and Windows Media Player...for example)
But after a year of owning my Nano I still cannot figure out how to do either of these tasks.

Just re read myoriginal question and realised I had not explained what I want to do very well.....
If I connect my ipod 9th gen to itunes.
How do I get it (itunes) to display albums and then delete them?
Finding them amongst the many thousands of track listing and then deleting them one track at a time is extremly tedious........
Surely there must be a way I can get itunes to display albums and the pick the one I want to delete?

  • Deleting Songs from Nano 7 - Problems!

What should be a simple matter is made so complex by Apple that it is pure torture.
Why is it so complicated to delete songs from Nano 7?
I've tried the "uncheck the boxes" and re-sync nonsense.  Yes, it got rid of some songs -- but it ADDED songs I NEVER checked!
And after multiple re-syncs, without those songs checked, these ghost songs keep appearing.
Frustrating with a capital F -- and a reason this is my last Apple product.  Ever.

Are you loading songs using automatic syncing?  It sounds like it, but I'm not sure.  Using the checkboxes next to songs is not the appropriate way to remove songs.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons going across, near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if it's not already checked.  Since you want to select what does and does not go on the iPod, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod.
If you want to make this simple, you can try this approach for setting this up.  Create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  To this playlist, add ALL of the songs you want on the iPod.
Back on the iPod's Music screen, select "iPod Songs" under Playlists; you can select other things if desired.  When you click Apply, all of the songs in your selection, including the "iPod Songs" playlist, sync to the iPod.  Going forward, when you want to remove songs from the iPod or add songs to the iPod, just update that playlist in iTunes.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), the same changes are automatically synced to the iPod.
That should solve your problem with deleting songs.  Just maintain the playlist in iTunes, and iTunes maintains the iPod automatically.  You can, of course, maintain more than one playlist in iTunes, and sync them all to the iPod (up to the capacity limit of the iPod).  Be sure to checkmark all of those songs you unchecked in your iTunes music library.
Note that there are other buttons next to Summary and Music.  Those are for setting up automatic syncing for those other types of iTunes content.
If you are using the manual method (dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes to load), and not automatic syncing, please post back.

  • How do I delete podcasts from my list, how do I delete podcasts from my list

How do I delete podcasts from my list after they are deleted from my hard drive?  Some old ones have been deleted but the ones since February are still in my list waiting to be downloaded once again.  There are 2 delete options and I'm wondering which one to use.  It no longer gives me an option to delete from my hard drive.  After deleting from my list.  It seems to delete from my hard drive and then sits there.
I would like to use automatic delete, but I need to know if I can change that to 'Save' during the 24 hour period after I'm done listening to the podcast.
This morning everything came back in.  I noticed the settings at the top were all changed to d/l all instead of just 1.  I'm confused about this whole thing and cannot find anything in the way of a tutorial on the Apple/iTunes web site.

Swipe left-to-right across the podcast, hit delete.

  • Trying to figure out how to delete podcasts from Iphone

How to delete podcasts from Iphone without internet connection?

Are you trying to delete them from the Podcasts app? Like most other places, you should be able to swipe your finger across the title, as if you were striking it out, then tap delete.
If you can't swipe to delete it, you can delete some content from apps like Music from Settings > General > Usage.
