Can't delete program.

Hey there, I just bought the base model macbook pro for school and some gaming, I transfered over from PC, and it's great. So pardon me if I have no clue what I'm doing.
I hope I'm in the right forum, I believe I have MAC OS X 10.4. >_<
Anyway, I downloaded a program called bittorent. But I found a much better one a few weeks later, and now it doesn't let me delete bittorent.
It says "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for "Bittorent".". What does this mean? How can I uninstall it? I'm the only one who has touched this computer since I bought it, I set all the passwords, all the user accounts and such. Thanks for your help in advance.

    i want to delete a programm but i cant!what can i do?

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

  • Can't delete programs, and specific

    Hello there!
I've some problems with my HP computer ( h8-1320eo ) for about 2-3 months now. The problem is, that when I go into Delete programs, and I press Delete this program, the cursor shows that it's loading, and after 5-8 seconds, it stops loading, and nothing happens. When again try to press Delete this program, it says something with, please wait while a program is being deleted.
I've tried waiting for 30 min, and it did nothing.
When I want to open Services, some times the cursor shows, that it's loading, and still nothing happens. When I try again, it doesn't react, it just makes this Windows sound and nothing happens. This does reset, if I restart my computer...

  • Should I (and can I) delete Program Files (x86) folder in Windows 7?

I installed Windows 7 32 bit over a Windows Vista 64 bit computer. I had to reinstall all applications (Office, etc.) and they were installed in the new folder 'Program files'. Can I just delete the old 'Program Files (X86)' folder? Should I do that? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It is impossible to upgrade a 64-bit operating system to a 32-bit operating system, no matter it is an OEM disk or not.
Windows 7 32-bit does not include the “Program Files (x86)” folder. Only the 64-bit operating systems have it. In this case, the 64-bie operating system is Windows Vista 64-bit.
In addition, if you performed a Clean Install for Windows 7 32-bit on the old system (Windows Vista 64-bit) partition, the old system files should be saved in C:\Windows.old folder.
So, Folk70, did you perform a Clean Install for Windows 7 32-bit on another hard disk drive? After logging into Windows 7 32-bit, then you found the “Program Files (x86)” folder in the Windows Vista 64-bit system partition?
If not, would you please upload the following information to SkyDrive and provide us the link for analyzing?
    Screenshot of the symptom
    ========================
    1. Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard.
    2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter.
    3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save".
    4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot".
    5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click “Desktop” on the left pane and then click "Save".

    1. Click “Start”, type in “msinfo32” (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and then press Enter.
    2. Choose “Save” from the File menu and save it as an NFO file.
    3. Find the file, right-click on this file, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder".
    4. Send the compressed file to us.
    Boot Configuration Database (BCD) entries
    ========================
    1. Click the Start Button, type in "CMD", right-click on the displayed item in the search pane and click "Run as administrator".
Note: The operation requires administrative privileges. Please click "Continue" or "Allow" when the User Account Control dialog-box appears.
    2. Type in the following command to export the BCD store to a file on the root directory of the C drive.
    BCDEDIT /ENUM ALL > C:\BCDEntries.txt
    3. If the command is successful, send the "BCDEntries.txt" file to me from Drive C.

Installed Trend Micro Smart Surfing on new MacBook Pro and now it has caused error that won't let computer boot up.  How do I get it to a point that I can delete program?

Try booting up in Safe mode (holding down the Shift key while booting). If the software came with an unistaller, use it to remove alll traces of the software - it's nothing that you need and, as you've experienced, can do more actual hard than good (as is the case with most software of this type). When you're booted in Safe Mode, if you can't run an uninstaller, at least check to make sure that there are no Trend Micro items that are set for automatic log in, at least.

  • I am running out of space on my MacBook Pro. If i back up my entire hard drive. Can i then delete programs etc. to free up space and if i need them again reinstall from the backup?

My MacBook Pro is running low on hard drive space. Can i perform a backup and then delete programs, files, photo's etc. on my hard drive, And then access them through the back up at a later time?

I agree with samberl ... the problem is not the saving of your programs to reinstall, but that you have outgrown your hard disk.
Sadly, harddisks are about 160% of what they were about 3 months ago due to flooding in Thailand and labor strikes there.  A bad time indeed to update harddisks.
You could make enough room by moving some data files for now to an existing external drive.
Then wait for prices to drop.
Then create a clone of your internal drive on a new (cheaper then) drive, and install a new bigger and clone back onto the new drive.
If you can wait a few months.

There may be an add-on installed for the toolbar. Go to Tools>Add-ons (or about:addons), select Extensions tab and remove the toolbar from there (if it's there)

    Hey ShankyHP,
Let's see if I can answer some of your questions. Great questions by the way!
As long as you get a drive that is the same heigh as the drive that comes with the unit, it should fit in the existing carrier. So, in this case, any standard 9mm drive should work. The Maintenance & Service Guide contains instructions on how to swap drives.
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, since there are no 250GB or 500GB options listed for this unit on HP Shopping.
Upgrading the graphics card is not supported after the unit is built.
There are a few different Wi-Fi modules used for the system, depending on the configuration, however all of them operate at the 2.4GHz band. The theoretical maximum speeds are similar between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, however 2.4GHz typically provides you with much greater range (distance), while the 5GHz band may be less crowded (if near a ton of wireless networks, like an apartment) but with less range.
Currently, an extended battery is not available for this model, but in the future it may be available. However, the standard battery is measured to last for 5 hours on this model.
The 17t-j000 does include an HP TrueVision HD Webcam, providing 720p video - it must just be a typo like you said.
Hope this helps! That is a fantastic unit, and we hope you enjoy it! Please let us know if you have any more questions.

where we can find the deleted programs history like who is deleted and when it is deleted like ...
    Thanks

    Hi Sridher,
I dont think it is possible. Once you delete a program, it is removed from data dictionary and history of deleted program is not maintained...

The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my new touch have created ghost songs.  They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play.  I can't delete them.  I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod.  It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?
I had no problems with my ipod touch 4th, which I had for years.   Any help would be great.
