Can't Delete song in iTunes

I downloaded an album, there was a song I didn't want, deleted it from the folder, but now it won't delete in iTunes, any suggestions?

The song that won't delete in iTunes, is it visible/selectable (by this I mean is it greyed out)?
The only thing I could suggest if it is greyed out, is to redownload that album. Add it to your iPod/iPhone. Once its been synced/added, find the unwanted track/song in the iTunes window and delete it from within there, rather than deleting it from its individual folder. I'm almost sure that if you delete it from within iTunes, it will delete it from its individual folder, or at least give you a prompt asking you what you want to do the chosen song/track

  • Help, can't delete song from iTunes on my iPad mini.Swiping doesn't work

When I swipe a song to delete from iTunes on my iPad mini, nothing happens. How do I get these songs off?

How do the songs show in the Music app ? If they have the cloud icon against them then they are in the cloud - you can turn off the showing of cloud music via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under 'show all') 'off'
If they don't have the cloud icon then are you swiping/dragging across the songs from right-to-left - that should reveal a Delete button to the song's right.
Or if you have iOS 8 you should be able to delete songs / albums / artists (or all music)via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under the 'storage' heading) > Music, you should have an Edit button at the top right of that screen.

I want to delete songs off of my computr because it's taking up unnecessary space, but how can I do this without them being removed from my iPhone when I sync it next?

As given, removing from the library causes the songs to be removed during sync. So the space taken up is neccessary... What would you do if your iPhone where lost, stolen, damaged or needed to be restored?
If you ned more room for storage buy a bigger drive. In fact buy two, one to use as a backup for your library and all your other important files.

  • I used my friends itunes account to get some of her music, but now I want to delete some from my phome, but I don't know how, and I can only delete songs from itunes but all the songs are on her's so I can't. What do I do?!!!?

    Please help me with this!?

That is what you get when you pirate music.
You are probably going to have reset your iPhone to factory default which wipe out evrything. After that restore from the backup on your computer.

  • Can you erase songs from iTunes, but keep them on the iPod???

Hi, I'm a newbie and tried to post this question earlier, but I'm not sure if it worked.
I'm wondering if there is any way to update your ipod, then take some of the songs on itunes, but still plug your ipod in later and keep those former songs on the ipod even if they're not on itunes. I'm thinking this isnt possible. But I wanted to make sure. I have limited HD space, but a 30GB ipod, so I was considering my options.
    thanks!

Set the iPod to sync manually; you can then delete songs from iTunes without them being deleted from the iPod automatically. You should keep another copy of the songs if you do this, as they can easily be lost if they are only on the iPod.

  • I would like to be able to delete songs in itunes

How can I delete songs in Itunes.
I would like a clean delete in the Itunes playlist
also in itunes recent added musik file and also on my HD.
Itunes stores and is in charge of its own music folder
    on an external HD.
If I delete a song in the playlist it does not ask or
do anything it just deletes the link in the playlist.

It's actually much better to delete songs directly from iTunes:

The reason for doing it through iTunes is that iTunes will then have perfect control over what files are in the library. Otherwise you may end up with these "broken links". Files that have the after them, and iTunes can't find them.

  • How can you delete songs off the ipod without deleting songs off your itunes library?

How can you delete songs off the ipod without deleting songs off your itunes library?  My son's ipod automatically synced all the songs in my library to his ipod which he now wants to get rid of.  Is there a way to delete them all without me having to erase my library?

Do not select the songs to sync, then sync.

  • Can I delete songs from my iTunes?

Can I delete songs from my iTunes account?

    Yes, but a different way.
Open up "Music" , navigate to the song(s) you wan tto get rid of, and swipe left on the song you want to delete. The "delete" icon will show up.
If you wish to delete all the songs:
    Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit > Delete

  • How can I delete songs from iphone 4s without the songs synching back with itunes?

How can I delete songs (forever) from iphone 4s without the songs synching back with itunes automatically?
My settings are , handle songs manually.
    Best regards PelleRPG

I did this with about 100 songs, and the problem is everytime I connect my iphone with itunes, It will automatically sync back every single song I did delete on the phone by swiping.
I did search on google and found out that serveral people has this problem. The songs wont delete from itunes library.
So why do they even make this function if it only deletes the songs for a short time?
    Best regards PelleRPG.

  • Can I delete song file directly from iTunes?

Currently if I want to delete any songs from my HDD I have to:
    ○ Right click th song in iTunes .
    ○ Click "Show in Windows Eplorer".
    ○ Delete the file.
    ○ Delete song in iTunes library.
◙ And repeat it all if there are more than one song I need to delete.
Is there any way to delete files from iTunes directly?

You can but in order to be able to do it directly from iTunes, the song/songs need to be store in the "iTunes folder" in your media directory or the Default folder to chose Under:
** Preferences -> Advanced -> Itunes Media folder location
    That is not accurate.
I do not keep my media in the iTunes folder because I personally cannot stand the way iTunes manages the folders.
I am able to delete media from my computer via iTunes by simply selecting delete and then selecting the option to let iTunes remove it from the drive.

I deleted songs in my iphone on the music app but when I sync with the computer the songs disappear. How can I delete songs on my phone but keep them in iTunes?

I use iTunes Match so I can't confirm this on my computer (my Music tab looks different), but as I recall, on the Music tab you have the option to check to sync selected playlists, artists and genres, and then check which playlists you want to sync below that.  Then, like songs, you would uncheck the playlists you don't want on your phone and sync to remove them.

    A Espinoza,
The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

  • Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Monty's solution will work if you have left the songs in one of your playlists. Another idea if that doesn't work is to check your iTunes list for that iPod. Check at the very bottom beneath the albums, artist,s and other content to add to your iPod, and be sure that you don't have individual songs selected to be added as well. If you do, eliminate them from that bottom list, and you should be fine.
