Can't delete Version or Master

I just want to delete a dang picture. When I try to either Delete Versions or Delete Masters in the File menu, it just goes to the next image. The image is unstacked and doesn't seem locked at all. Any thoughts?

Just the usual (sorry if you've done this): shut down, reboot, launch Aperture only, on only one screen, try again. I had this happen at some point during my transition.

Can you compare Version to Master at same crop?

The M key for comparing a version to a master is really useful. What it does, however, is zoom from the cropped image version to the uncropped master.
When I compare master to version, I'm really just interested in the color, brightness, etc. of the cropped area--how that compares to the master. Other than unchecking the Crop checkmark and then pressing M (which would compare uncropped images), is there any way to compare a version to a master at the same crop level as the version I'm currently looking at? Would anyone else find this useful?

There is not a function per se, which does what you want. (I've provided feedback concerning the lack of this function, but that shouldn't stop you from providing feedback to the Aperture team about the same thing.)

Sekoya suggested using Alt-G to create a new version from master. You can use that temporarily to compare an edited version with that new unedited version, which is identical to the master. Then you can delete (or undo) the new version.

If you do not use Firefox 3 you can uninstall it. When uninstalling make sure that you do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data" as that option will remove all Firefox user data such as bookmarks and passwords.

Rsync: can I delete version 2.6.9?

Replacing system binaries is a bad idea, if for no other reason than that your changes may get blown away by the next OS update.
If you're using rsync correctly, it shouldn't matter where it's installed. If it's not working for you now, moving it probably won't help.

Delete Version

Can we delete version?
For example, I already have version=100. Then I test to create version=200. Assign the new version into consolidation frequency. Save it.
Then I tried to delete the version=200 (right click and then choose "Delete"). When I save the changes , This error appear :

What "kind of data" did you mean?
I have no transactional data or master data which are assigned to the version=200
Is it automatically assigned to version=200 when I create the version?

I can't delete the master file, which is located on my external HD, through aperture

I import a folder to aperture which is stored on my external HD, and keep the originals on the HD. If I try to delete a master file with the option, file-delete master image and all versions, the photo deletes from Aperture, but not my hard drive. I have even tried to delete my trash, but no luck. Please help, otherwise I do not want to use aperture for file management, which was one of my major reasons for buying it.

After you've deleted a file it from the project it goes into Aperture Trash. When you empty Aperture Trash (Aperture>Empty Aperture Trash) you will get a dialogue box asking "Are you sure you want to permanently delete all items in the Trash?" Under this there is a checkbox giving you the option to "Move referenced files to System Trash". If you check this box it will move the master to the system trash, and from there you can permanently delete the file.
All this is to stop you from accidentally deleting work.

Deleting Versions....and not master copy

Every time I delete a version I loose the photo and can't find it anywhere. Where the **** are the master copies and why does deleting a version from the "FILE" menu get ride of the entire picture?
Also, where can I find a good document that will help me learn the features of this program? I don't always have access to the internet and want to be able to work the program. The user manual is horribly inadequate.

Aperture (and Lightroom) do not behave like classic computer file based pixel editors. A non-destructive workflow requires that one understand some basic concepts:
-- Every image starts with a "master" image which is placed in one, and only one, "project." These images may be "managed" in which case they are arranged in date order inside the Aperture "library" or "referenced," in which case they are arranged any way you want, any where you want.
-- Within Aperture, every master has at least one "version." You cannot see masters, only versions. You can create as many versions as you want. You might create them to preserve different crops, color adjustments, or B&W conversions. You can also populate them around various albums, smart and dumb, so that one image can be found many places. (For example, you may one the same image of Sally in Cancun in a bikini in the albums: Models, Mexico, and Swimwear. Easily done.
-- Deleting versions does not delete the master, until you delete the LAST version, in which case it Aperture will warn you. If you delete a version in one place, it will warn you if the same version exists in other places.
-- Sending a version to an "external editor" will create a new master image and version, in the format you have selected for external editors. This new master will normally be "stacked" next to the original.
Hope this helped. I tried to "quote" all of the ApertureSpeak terms. Aperture is an incredibily powerful image processing system that relieves you of almost all computer file handling annoyances. But, as with anything this powerful, it can be complex and ya gotta read the book. Or consider taking the tutorial.

Can we delete master data in SE14?

Hello all,
we changed one of the navigational attributes from time dependent to time independent when we transported it from dev to production the transport failed because the infoojebct could not be activated.
It wants us to delete all master data related to that attribute (so basically delete all Master data for that infoobject ) and the re-activate the infoobject.
There are way too many cubes and DSO that have data and have to be deleted before doing this infoobject, so is it ok to delete data via SE14 then activate the infoobject and reload all the master data for that infoobject.
Is this ok to be done? do you seen any issues that we should think of before hand? We have authorization do that.

Thanks for the reply but it will not delete all the master data right? Since the infoojbect is used in multiple cubes and ODS's and they have lots of data in it right now..
Or we will have to delete data from all these ODS and cubes before deleting data from infoobject.
If all the master data is not deleted can I still activate the infoobject for change in time dependency to a particular attribute?

Can Not Delete Master data 0Material

Hi Gurus:
I need to get rid of Leading Zeros for Material Number. My understanding is I need to do ALPHA conversion.
I did the follwing Steps:
1. Delete data from ODS
2. Delete Data from Master Data 0MATRIAL.
Although I deleted data from ODS, still when I try to delete data from 0MATERIAL it is giving me some error saying there will be still some data left.
3. I went to RSD1 and tried to do ALPHA conversion. I m getting following errors:
Master Data Table /BIO/PMATERIAL conatins data: Characteristc 0MATERIAL can not be activated
SID Data Table /BIO/SMATERIAL conatins data: Characteristc 0MATERIAL can not be activated

Suggest me what I need to do.

I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder. I use Thunderbird's Archive folders so that accumulated mails over several years can happily coexist because they are effectively stored in many small folders. No single mail store folder then exceeds the 2GB or 4GB sizes that have been known to stress the OS. Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.

First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.

Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....

As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.

How can i delete an 'older version of bonjour'

whenever i try and install the new itunes software, it comes up with an error message during the installatiion process saying that it can't delete the older version of bonjour. When i try and do it in install/uninstall progammes on control panel it won't let me uninstall bonjour either.
Basically, i can't download any new itunes software at the moment, so what can i do?

Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).
