Can't disable option show import dialog w/ memory card detected

Hello. Across the board, I don't want applications to open up when memory cards or cd/dvds are inserted. Adobe Lightroom counters this desire by opening when I insert a memory card.
I am running Windows Lightroom 2.4. In pervious versions, I could disable the perferences / import / show import dialog when a memory card is detected. However, in 2.4 I uncheck this option. Close lightroom. Open lightroom. And my disabled selection didn't save. It has it checked. And...Lightroom continues to open when I insert a memory card.
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
I have tried running Lightroom as admin to see if it was a registry permissions issues. The options still didn't stay unset.

You don't say which OX you're running, but if it is a Vista 64 bit version just a few notes down you will find the answer:

Essentially it is a bug in 2.4 on Vista 64 bit systems and must be fixed by Adobe.
I do experience the bug on my Vista system but not on my iMac.

Lightroom 5.0 fails to automatically open import dialog when memory card inserted

Lightroom 5.0 fails to detect memory card and open import dialog. This has always worked fine in Lightroom 4, 3,and 2. Same cards, same camera, same iMac using OS X 10.8.4. Manual importing works OK, card is detected just fine.

I have tested Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 5 on Mac OSx 10.9.4 and find no difference in behavior.
If you have correctly set Image Capture to auto-launch Lightroom on insertion of card and you have set Lightroom to launch the Import dialog upon insertion of card, this is expected behavior:
1. If Lightroom is not open open, inserting a Memory Card will launch Lightroom without opening the Import Dialog
2. If Lightroom is open already, inserting a Memory Card will open the Import Dialog.
I can find no combination of settings in Lightroom 4 or 5 that allow you to, with Lightroom closed, insert a card and have Lightroom launch and open the Import dialog. I would sure love to see someone produce a screen vid capture of Lightroom 4 opening by itself and launching an import dialog upon card insertion with no user intervention.

Running Aperature 3.2.3 on MBP 2.16 core duo 2gb ram importing from a SD card reader contining approx 300 nikon d3100 NEF files. Created a new user account and new library with same results.

Could be the card. Transfer the files to your HD using Finder, and then import into Aperture. All OK?
Then reformat your card in your camera, and see if the problem recurs. Also: does it happen with other cards? Does it happen with the card in the camera (instead of in your card reader)?

What settings are you using in the Import dialog?
Can you sort the images once they are imported?
Are they sorted/sortable in the Import dialog?
Into what container are you importing them?
Is your installation of Aperture and of OS X completely up-to-date?

A85XA-G65 can't find option to enable dual channel memory mode

My system is new build.
Specs:
MSI A85XA-G65
AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair Force GT 120GB (system drive)
PSU OCZ ZT 550W
Win 7 64-bit
Problem: UEFI showing 8Gb memory but only 4Gb physical memory showing when SiSandra used and in Windows.
I can't find the option to enable dual channel memory mode. Slots populated are DIMM1 and DIMM3. When DIMM 2 and 4 are populated it will not boot (no dsiplay). I can easily switch between DIMM 1 and 3 in control centre for UEFI but I am unable to switch to dual channel mode no matter what i try.
Any ideas?

For dual channel to work DIMM 2 & 4 must be populated. It won't work with 1 & 3. Try with one stick and set timings and speed according to the sticks' specifiactions in the oc section of your bios then retry with dimm 2 & 4. If no help try slower timings like 10-10-10-28-2T

If you have to ship your phone back to the US, then you will need to ship is to a friend or a relative who actually lives out there. You CANNOT ship it directly to Apple as they will not accept it. Send it to a relative or friend that you have there and if you don't have any, then you are out of luck as there is nothing that you can do.
That is why is was not really a good idea to purchase an iPhone is the US when you are ultimately going to use it in China. With no international warranty on the iPhone you are stuffed really. You should have bought it in China and then you would not be facing this problem.
Nothing you can do except get on a plane and fly to the US or send the phone to a friend or relative.

Importing contacts from memory card

Have recently got new 5800 after mine got wet. The new one is slightly different and I have put my memory card from old one into new phone.
I can't seem to find the right route to import my numbers off my memory card.
I'm sure the card is not corrupted as it had all my music on which automatically transfered when I opened real player.

file manager>double click the memory card>option>copy contacts>from memory card...

PC Suite doesn't show the messages in memory card

When I open the Communication Centre from PC Suite, it doesn't show the messages. In the left pane, number of messages in the folders is shown as zero. This happens if the memory is set to memory card.
On the other hand, if I set the memory to Phone memory, the messages are shown properly. Why is this happening and what's the solution?
When I tried to take a backup, all data, except messages, is backed up.
Few days back, I could access all the messages via PC Suite. It worked fine. But, now, there's some problem.
I've lots of messages in the memory card & I wanna move them to different folders. How else can I do it?

I think I found the cause of the problem. There's some problem with the memory card.
I set the memory for Camera also to memory card and when I take a snap, something something happens. If I set the memory to phone memory, it works fine.
But, I can access the files/folders in the memory card both from the mobile & via PC Suite.
Now, my question is "How do I retrieve the messages from the memory card?"
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Canon MP560 how to scan/import from a memory card

I'm connected via Airport Express, printing and scanning is fine. I have installed the last update I can find (mp560sosxcp103030ea8-2). I want to import picture from a Compact Flash memory card, the printer perfectly read the card.

You may need to check the Advanced Guide for your MP560. This is part of the On-screen manual you can download from the Canon web site. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site.

The reason I suggest you check the guide is that according to the Guide for my MP980, the Card Slot cannot be used over a network for Mac OS X 10.5, and presumably 10.6. It functions fine when the printer is connected directly to the Mac via USB. But if you have the machine connecting via wireless to the Express, then it may not function. But given your model is a year newer than mine, maybe this limitation is no longer present. So, check the manual to confirm.

Automatically delete imported photos from memory card

I cant find this option anywhere, and with other photo management systems it's a fairly standard option, but how do you automatically delete the photos off the memory card once you have successfully imported them??

You don't. LR is conservative about destroying stuff, and wants you to put the card back into the camera to clear it.

Import images from memory card?

My Canon digital camera uses a removable memory card which I then put into an Inca Card Reader. When using Photoshop Elements 11 and try to open the Card Reader to import images, the Card Reader isn't even listed among the various drives attached to, or within, my computer? How can I fix this? Applescript: display dialog until memory card is inserted

I'm developing an applet to automate the process of copying video footage from my camera's memory cards onto my hard drive. It works perfectly, except that I cannot quit it. Here is the part of the code that needs help. It checks every 5 seconds for a memory card and, if one is inserted, continues to copy everything off it.

The problem is that there is no way I can find to quit once it is in this wait loop. The menu command to quit and the Command-Q hotkey both do nothing so I have to force quit when done. What I'd like is to be able to have a dialog displayed asking this user if they want to quit while it's waiting, but I don't know how to do that without it having to "give up after 5 seconds". That makes a new dialog display again every 5 seconds when it rechecks for memory cards, which would get very annoying for anyone using the computer.
I wish something like this would work...

Keeping a script or application locked up inside delays or repeat loops will keep it from responding to system events. There are a few ways to monitor when a volume gets mounted:
Write your application using AppleScript in Xcode to watch for a workspace notification;
Use launchd or a folder action to watch the /Volumes folder (an alias is added to the folder when a volume is mounted);
Make your script into a stay-open application and use an idle handler to periodically check.

Audio Manager showing less space on Memory Card th...

Hello,
I use a Nokia N70, and am trying to transfer music files to the memory card.
I have the "E" (memory card) option highlighted as the device to copy files to, however it will not let me transfer more than a few tracks before it comes up saying "No space left on phone"
At the bottom of the Audio Manager it says "Used 53299 KB Available: 8967 KB". Yet, it says in the File Manager application that the Memory card has: "Used Space 20.47Mb" "Free Space 40.34 Mb"
Why are the two conflicting? Does anyone have any ideas please?

This is exactly what I'm seeing with 6.83. Very frustrating.
"There is not enough space..."
It is reporting 1490.19/1913.94 used on a 2Gb card. In fact after some cleanup I am only using ~120Mb and have around 1800Mb free!
This is confirmed by
- the file browser in PC suite
- directly accessing the 2Gb card via the "memory card" mode on the N80 (makes card appears as a drive to windows)
This is under Vista x64
Changing the folder, rebooting phone, rebooting PC -- none of this seems to help

Why can't I transfer my photos from the memory card to my computer.

I have an HP 5510 and can't see where I can download photos from the memory card to my computer. The printer only lets me view the photos or print them, but I want to store them on my computer. How do i do that?

I'm wondering the same thing... Do I need to connect the printer via the usb cable? Help Please.

Why does Lightroom 5.2 & my mac crash on import from a memory card reader?

I'm running Lightroom 5.2 on my iMac (OS X v 10.7.5).
When I try to upload raw files from my Compact Flash memory card reader (Lexar USB 3.0) the files begin to download. When it gets part way through download the download stops and I get the spinning wheel of death.
No matter what I try I cannot get Lightroom to shutdown or even the computer to shut down.
My only option is to disconnect the computer from the power.
When I re-start the images are downloaded but I do have to start from where I had left off to complete the download.
Does anyone have any idea's what I should do?
This computer has never run Lightroom before so I do not have a previous version of it on the HD.

1. Download the drivers and/or other software required for the OS version you're running.
2. Install the downloaded software/drivers.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Insert the memory card into your card reader.
5. Copy the entire contents of the card to your media drive - do NOT alter the folder structure.
6. Launch FCP and use Log & Transfer on the files on your media drive.
