Can't do GoPro Hero 3 lens corrections in Photoshop CC

I'm a creative cloud subscriber. I just watched a great video on Adobe TV showing me how Photoshop CC can do lens corrections for GoPro Hero 3 black edition cameras. However, when I imported my GoPro Hero 3 footage into Photoshop CC, GoPro did not appear as a camera maker. I shot the video in 1080, with ProTune on, in Camera RAW. Maybe that's why I don't see GoPro... Any ideas?

I was initially mystified by this as well.  Here is what I finally figured out:
1.  From bridge, open a GoPro .mp4 file in Photoshop.
2.  Filter > Lens Correction.  Pull down GoPro under camera; GoPro Hero 3 Black under camera model and lens.
3.  Click OK.
To add additional video clips, hit the "+" sign at the right side of the Timeline panel.  Apply the Lens Correction filter to these, as well.

  • Can ACR 5.7 read lens corrections? Or will 5.8?

I am really excited that lens/perspective corrections are coming to ACR and Lightroom 3. I understand that these corrections will be fully supported in ACR6.1 and LR3.
For those of us that own both Photoshop and Lightroom and wish to upgrade a single product there is a question about compatibility: can Lightroom 2.7 or ACR5.7 read and apply the lens corrections made in the newer program? If not, is a final update (LR 2.8, ACR 5.8) to these programs forthcoming?
    Thank you,
    Simon

    Hi Eric,
That's a shame. Based on ACR4.6's support for rendering Lightroom 2 files I had hoped that something similar would apply. Especially since the underlying architecture (DNG opcodes, I guess) seems to already be implemented in ACR 5.7.
Besides that, the corrections look great and I'm looking forward to using them in LR3 (I'll probably skip PS CS5).

  • How do I save a profile in Lens Correction in Photoshop

I am using Photoshop CS6 on a PC running Win7.  In the previous version I was able to save a profile in the Lens Correction panel.  In this version I can find my camera and my lens but it won't let me save the profile.  I only real estate and straight verticals are very important.

If your not saving a profile you found online you can save a preset from the custom tab:
Are you not able to save a profile from online locally if that's what your asking?

  • Lens correction in Photoshop or LR?

Does any of the adobe software's have any cylindrical volume anamorphosis correction like DXO or Hemi? I was planning to get a Canon 10-22 or a Tokina fisheye but would want to Have a distortion correction tool on hand.

Most of the shots are done JPEG + RAW, and the JPEG and RAW files are identical.  I can post a set if you want.
It's a little odd, because I was under the impression that the camera's JPEG engine is supposed to do this type of lens correction.  I asked Olympus about this but haven't heard yet.  As you can probably tell though, the EXIF data is intact.

You might try downloading the 64 bit version of this free program. Others have had success using it when Quicktime wouldn't work:

  • LR3 can't read lens correction in PSD files.

I've done lens correction in my raw file.
After opening in in Photoshop CS4, I've made some adjustments in tone and sharpen, and save as
a PSD file, with the same name as raw file.
Comparing the two files, Raw and PSD, the look quite different about the correction lens results.
In PS they looks like the same one, but in LR3 they are not.
It look like the raw file without lens correction.
It's a big issue if I want to export that psd file or even generate other files from it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You need at least ACR 6.1 + Photoshop CS5 to interpret lens corrections in Photoshop. CS4 cannot do it.
You only option is to set Photoshop as a secondary editor (check Prefs in Lightroom) and let Lightroom render the image before sending it to PS.

  • Lens correction options in Camera Raw

Hi!  I have CS5 on both my laptop and desktop (Mac) computers - on my desktop when I am in Camera Raw I get all the Lens correction profiles, ability to change horizontal / vertical etc, but on my desktop version, in the lens settings I only get Chromatic Aberration and vignetting options.  They are the same version of the program and were downloaded at the same time.  Can anyone please give some suggestions on how I can get all of the Lens correction options to appear on my laptop too.
    Thanks!

Maybe show us a screenshot of what you see on the system that isn't want you expect.   What version of ACR are you using in each?  It should be visible in the title bar of the ACR plug-in if you unmaximize it, or you can do About Plug-ins / Camera Raw in PS.
Here is the Manual tab of ACR 6.7 on Windows in CS5:

  • PSE 8, Raw 6.1, Lens Correction

    Hello,
I have just installed the Raw-Plug-In 6.1 for my Photoshop Elements 8 on Windows 7 64bit.
I can no where find the lens correction tab. Does anybody know what I have to do to get this tab?
The startet plug-in shows vesion 6.1 so the installation seems to be correct.
I was really looking forward for the lens correction part, because this would be a really useful feature.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Sincerely Borg

According to the Camera Raw thread I have linked, that feature isn't available in PSE.

  • Support for DNG files with lens corrections?

Aperture 3.0.1 with the RAW Compatibility Update 3.1 now supports the lens corrections in my Olympus E-P1's native RAW format. yay!
unfortunately, since Aperture didn't support the camera for six months, I began a switch to Lightroom. consequently, I now have several thousand images that have been converted from the EP-1's native RAW format (ORF) to Adobe's so-called open RAW format (DNG). these DNGs don't load in Aperture (RAW format unsupported errors) because Aperture doesn't support DNGs with lens corrections.
Apple, can you please advise if lens corrections you support in native RAW files will also be supported in DNG conversions sometime soon? if so, I'll know it's safe to switch back to Aperture and recover the last six months of photos when the next RAW Compatibility Update happens.

Aperture 3.0.1 with the RAW Compatibility Update 3.1 does not support lens corrections. If you want lens corrections in Aperture you have to use Plugins like PTlens.
To my knowledge Aperture ignores all lens correction data in the original RAW files, just like it does with all the settings of the camera.

  • Lens Correction won't list my camera and lens

Why won't the Lens Correction filter recognize my camera and lens, which is shown in the metadata below the correction window?  I had been using the venerable Canon 5D Mk II and now the Mk III.  For images taken with the III it doesn't even list Canon in the Camera dropdown -- too new?  Even with the II, I had to choose the camera manually and then choose the lens from a very tedious list, and had no indication if it was using the focal length in the case of a zoom, or the aperture.
I do strongly prefer to do this correction in Camera Raw or Lightroom, and realize it needs to be done on an uncropped image to be accurate.  I'm probably missing something, but why even present it as an auto correction if it can't use the metadata?  Why not just limit it to the manual correction?

Lens Correction within Photoshop - CS5 E and CS6 E- Shows camera/lens info for the 5DMkIII in the lower left hand corner,  but nothing in the drop down menu.

    CS6:
But with both CS5 E and CS6E,  it's the reverse here. Bottom left corner doens't show camera information, but I can select it manually from the drop down list. Also, I can select the other items just about the drop down menus list.

    CS6
Sorry for appearing to post duplicate images, but they aren't. It's screen captures from both CS5 Extended and CS6 Extended.
Anything from Canon 7D and earlier (including most of the Canon Powershots, but not the G1X), I get all the options in the drop down menus on the right. Canon 5DMkIII and Olyumpus OMD EM5, nothing.
    I hope that's documented enough.

  • Need Profile for Lens Correction Filter

I have a Nikon D5000. How do I get the correct lens profile so I can use it in the Lens Correction filter?

Profiles are not specific to a camera body, they are specific to a lens model and a sensor size (i.e. a profile for one model of lens will work on all the DX crop-sensor Nikon cameras).

  • Lens Correction GOPRO 4 HB and DJI

When I apply the lens correction, as in the official video tutorial for PR CC, it seems seamless. When i apply it the playback becomes jerky, is there a step missing. I am a novice with this. Please can someone help. Thanks

Only thing you can do is to render the timeline.
Or use the fisheye correction in the free Cineform Gopro Studio software (it produces avi's or mov's).

  • Lens correction database- gopro

    Hi All,
I'm trying to use Photoshop CS5 to remove the fisheye from my GoPro Hero4 Silver images.  Online forums show that I can go to Filter>Lens Correction and select my GoPro camera to apply correction, however my Photoshop does not list GoPro (or thus the specific camera) as a camera make in the "Search Criteria" folder.  I've attached a screenshot of what I do have (according to tutorials, "GoPro" should be on that dropdown list).  Does anyone know if I can update this database of cameras, or do something else to fix it?
    Thank you!

As R_Kelly says, actually installing the DNG Converter will update you to the latest ADOBE provided profiles.
Note that Adobe have not provided profiles for all conceivable camera makers and lenses, nor do they claim to have done that, nor that they ever will.
If someone has developed and published the profile(s) you seek, you'll have to Google for that third party profile and see if it actually works adequately.
As an aside, Ill have to add that not dealing with video at all myself, I had never even heard of your particular camera.  It also not clear to me personally, whether video lenses and video cameras can be profiled at all for use in Photoshop.  I just don't know.

  • No Lens Correction for Gopro

I have been trying to use the lens correction option for the Gopro.... However there is no lens correction option on my version. I have just installed the latest update to Premiere CC.
I have noticed another post with this problem. But I have not found an answer yet....
    Thanks

Sorry, maybe I'm just confused as to what you're asking for. You just want to straighten out the fisheye effect on GoPro footage? Is there a reason that you can't use one of the Lens Distortion presets?
