Can't do word find in secured PDF?

It's NOT just a scanned document/picture because I can scroll over the text.  The issue seems to be that it's SECURED.  Why would that disable word find (command + F)?

  • Can I apply electronic signatures to secured PDF's and hide them?

    Hello,
I currently have our product datasheets on secured PDF's (approximately 40,000 of them). We post these datasheets directly onto our website.
What I am looking to do is to have 3 people electronically sign-off on each of these datasheets, before they are posted on our website -- however I do not want these signatures visible to the public.
Thus, can I use electronic signatures with secured PDF's? And can I hide these signatures?
Also, I have watched some of Adobe's videos as it pertains to group editing. Do you have any recommendations for more resources regarding this? How would I make sure that "Jim" doesn't sign something with "John"'s name?

When they cannot be opened I forget what it says.  That's not much help I know.  File not found or something like that.  I can open an attachment from an e-mail see it, then save it to my computer and e-mail it to someone and they won't be able to read it. I will go back and check on it and sure enough I can't open it again. Frustrating.

  • Can't open word doc attachments in pdf mail portfolio

I created a pdf portfolio by converting outlook mail messages in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I can open the attachments but my coworkers are unable to open email attachments that are word documents (they can open pdfs).  When they go to Preferences --> Trust Manager, the first option about pdf attachments is grayed out and cannot be selected.
Can anyone please help tell me how to make the word documents accesible to other users.
    Thank you

    Hi,
I have Acrobat 9.5 on my machine and I am not able to see any problem in opening non PDF file attachments.
Please give the exact version of Acrobat you are using ( to see the version go to  Help -> About Adobe Acrobat).
Update your Acrobat to latest version i.e 9.5.
As you have mentioned that in Preferences-> Trust Manager-> Allow opening of non PDF file attachment with external applications is grayted out,
is it a custom installation of Acrobat ?? because in normal installation this option is not grayed out.
    Thanks.

  • Can't convert Word 2000 file to pdf

    Hello:
I have Acrobat 9 Standard (v. 9.3.4). I try to convert (Create menu) a Word 2000 file, but get the error message "The document or path is not valid." Still, the doc file opens, and the conversion seems to take place, but when completed, Acrobat hangs. Same if I used File - Open.
I can open the doc file normally without problems. I have repeared my installation of Acrobat, and rebooted. No change.
    What can I do?

  • Can you help me find my security code for PSE7?

I want to install photoshop elements 7 on a new PC, and discarded the packaging. When I went online, the product isn't registered, although I'm sure I registered it.  I have the software installed on another PC, but don't know where to look for the serial number. I already looked in the registry, it's not there. Any other suggestions on how to retrieve my serial number? Thank-you.

Try running Belarc Advisor and see if that helps

  • Way to save MS Word file as a PDF with original MS Word file date?

For archiving purposes, I'm betting PDFs will be readable (backwards compatible) long after my current file saved in Microsoft Word becomes out of date. Anyone know of a way I can save my Word file as a PDF while retaining the original Word file last-modified date (for patent protection reasons to prove date of authorship)? (or Word to text file or ASCII file would also be equivalent as long as original date is kept)

I doubt that a computer date would suffice for legal proof of date. It is easily changed for those that know their way around the computer. I would have to play a bit, but could probably do it without too much trouble. About the only way to satisfy the need for a patent is to properly insert the pages in a patent notebook and get the information notorized. From what I have seen, the legal profession generally requires hard copy, not a computer file. A loose-leaf form is also typically not acceptable, but a bound notebook properly annotated. The notorized aspect is a way around some of this I think. In any case, it sounds like you need to consult a patent attorney.

I need to get the number of words of pdf files. I usually convert them into word files to get the word count. Some pdf files are protected and can't be converted into word files. Is there another way to get the number of words of these protected pdf files? I use adobe professional XI Pro.

  • Can't create WORD or EXCEL PDF?

Can't create WORD or EXCEL PDF's?
All Adobe updates are already installed.
I am running Adobe Professional 8
I am running Office Professional 2003
When opening WORD or EXCEL I get this error message:
    Microsoft Visual Basic
Compile error in hidden module: DistMon
A suggested solution was to go to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\IBM USER\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
    Then delete PDFMaker
The error message goes away but I cannot create a PDF Doc either, so that's no good.
When I click the create PDF button in EXCEL this is the ERROR Signature:
    AppName: excel.exe
    AppVer: 11.0.8307.0
    AppStamp: 49ee85df
    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0
    ModStamp: 00000000
    fDebug: 0
    Offset: 00000000
Also, when I click on send error report, it never finishes.
If I open Adobe Professional 8 and click on create PDF, then select a file,
the error message I get is:
    Missing PDFMaker files.
Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
If I click yes, it takes forever and nothing happens.
    Suggestions?

I got this message when trying to use Excel 2003. I went to Microsoft's web site's community and entered the error message that you got. There was a solution offered that worked for me although I cannot remember now what it was. You might also try Microsoft's knowledge base for any possible answers for this problem. IMHO, I believe this is an Office 2003 problem and not an Acrobat problem.
I usually find the answers to problems such as these on Microsoft's web site. Good luck.

  • How can I prevent Word 2013  from opening a PDF file to edit it?

As per the title - I create training manuals in MS Word and save as PDF for distribution to clients.
How cna I prevent them from opening and editing them with Word 2013?

You can restrict editing and printing of a PDF document by setting permissions when you create the initial PDF. This can be done as:
    Open Word document to convert.
Go to Acrobat tab on Word ribbon -> Select Preferences button.
On Security tab of the Preferences dialog, tick mark the check box for "Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password will be required in order to change these permission settings."
Specify a password in "Change Permissions Password" tex box.
    Click OK.
Input the password again in the confirmation dialog.
    Go to "Create PDF" button.
The PDF thus created, will have editing restricted. And Word 2013 will not be able to open it.
    Thanks.

If you already have a PDF document, ExportPDF can help you with this task. https://www.acrobat.com/exportpdf/en/convert-pdf-to-word.html
On the other hand, if you have a physical document, you'll need to scan it into a PDF document first.
