Can't dock with protective case on iPod

I bought a Bluetooth transmitter for my iPod that docks with the iPod dock connector. But it can't dock with the iPod when it is in its case - the dock connector is just too short to connect through the padded case. Is there any sort of male dock to female dock cable that will let me connect this device through the small hole in the bottom of my case? I can connect my dock to USB cable through the case. Thanks in advance for any info on what and where to buy.

Yes, that's true. But then Apple recommends that you not dock / charge while in a case, regardless of method (dock, cable, A/C charger, etc.). Docking generates heat, and the case does not allow proper dissipation of said heat. One of the things that is a definite no-no for Li-Ion batteries is too much heat; that will definitely shorten the life-span of your battery.

That's really good to know. I thought because it was a different thickness you wouldn't be able to, and the dock adaptor that comes with the new iPods doesn't fit into the old Photo dock.
Do you know if you can use the charger that came with the old Photo iPods? You can plug straight into the power socket, but the cable that goes into the charger from the iPod is the firewire cable, so I was thinking maybe it wouldn't work, and I don't want to try it in case I short out my iPod or something!

Of course, there are may cases out there for the Charge but I would have to say generally, no. I have the desk dock and it looks like the Charge fits very snugly into the dock, and that the seat molded into the dock for the phone is an exact match for the side profile of the Charge.
I have the shell/holster case for the Charge that is standard VZW accessory, and having the Charge in the shell portion of the case would prevent it from docking.
I do have a Skin-It skin on the back of the phone, and this does NOT prevent docking.

Yes I saw that article from before. The problem I am having is one that is unique to the PowerMac G5 and does not effect the Mac Pro. The problem I am having is that the PowerMac G5 uses a plastic shield that won't close when you install an Accelero. In order to get this card to work some people have even cut a hole into the shield as you can see with the first picture from this article:

Needless to say I feel very uncomfortable doing this. This is why when I came across an article that showed people bending their Acceleros it gave me hope that I could install one with out having to damage my computer and risk having air flow problems. Protective case for ipod touch

Im interested in learning about protective cases for the 8gb touch. Im especially interested in a hard, clear case. Any suggestions?

I have a protective screen thing, too, which is great. No bubbles, and if you're careful when you put it on, no dust. I can't even tell it's there.
BUT, while that adequately protects from scratches, I don't feel it does anything in the way of protecting the thing if it's dropped, and it certainly wouldn't protect the screen if it got banged against something in my purse. Those are my concerns. So, I have it in a clear, hard, plastic case. DLO, got it from Best Buy. Like the one mentioned above, but I don't have a pop-out stand - instead it has little rubber grippy things on the back so that it doesn't slide around if I lay it down. In addition to that, I put it in another, cloth, case that protects it somewhat from being hit by the sharp edge of something and has a strap I can put around my wrist). Even that isn't what I really want - what I want to get is something that puts a hard cover right in front of the screen, to keep it from being cracked.
And for the person who mentioned a couple of days ago that s/he doesn't put it in a case because it's not a precious jewel - having a case has saved me at least twice when I've dropped my iPod onto the asphalt next to my car. Just makes me feel better. I don't need my iPod to look perfect for always, but I would like it to continue to function, and I'm the first to admit that my purse isn't the safest place for fragile things

Ipad cannot connect on dock with smart case

purchased new iPad with a smart case and the dock. The iPad does not fit on the dock with the smart case on.
You must remove the case to be able to connect. Hopefully Apple will look into this as it is quite annoying to have
to remove the case.

Facetime doesn't work on an iPad 2 3G; only using wifi. You need a newer iPad.

Can anyone recommend a protective device?? I see they have some you can hang on your belt.....Leather types?? Name Brands that would be good...Thanks

1st gen shuffle can't dock with itunes in windows 7

My 1st gen iPod shuffle still works like a champ, USB docks fine and charges, but iTunes won't recognize it, so I can't change any of the music. I've tried the "reset iPod shuffle" directions here on this site, but it is in-effective. I've tried this on my home PC, notebook, and work PC. All are running Windows 7. The reset utility appears to be for earlier Windows versions only? I have seen some similar posts on this board but no resolution. What can I do?

(On Windows) I recently encountered the same problem. When opening iTunes, the Shuffle (1st gen) would continuously mount and dismount. What ultimately worked for me is to run the Windows error-checking utility on Shuffle with the "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" option selected. I was then able to open iTunes and restore the iPod. Note: It appears that if something goes wrong before you can restore, you will need to run the error-checking utility again before making another attempt. Full instructions below:
Connect iPod to computer
Click the Start button and select "Computer"
Right-click on your iPod
Select "Properties"
Navigate to the "Tools" tab,
Under "Error-checking" click the "Check now..." button.
A pop-up window will appear. Click the check box for "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" (The check box for "Automatically fix file system errors" should already be selected).
Click the "Start" button to run the utility.
When finished, re-launch iTunes. Select your iPod and then run the "Restore iPod" utility.
If something goes wrong (iPod dismounts, can't run restore, etc.) repeat steps 2-9 to try again.

Sennheiser earphone jack will not fit into iPad Air with protective case on

i have sennheiser earphones and the jack will not fit into my iPad Air with the protective leather case on. The earphone jack is too large. Does anyone know if there is some kind of adaptor I can attach to the jack so it will fit? Or perhaps know of another solution?

Can see and recognize my wireless network and Internet is working, but I can't connect with ANY computers/iPad/iPod/air TV, etc. I have reset the time machine several times, and can see the network, but cannot access it with any device. PLEASE HELP!

I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!! I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO THE 21ST CENTURY!

Hi, can anyone help. I am really struggling to set up my ipod to itunes. I had previously had 2 ipods set up to one itunes account but when I got my laptop upgraded I lost everything. I don't think I ever had it set up correctly but it worked having 2 seperate playlists one for each ipod.
I have loaded the music back on and set up the playlists as per my previous set up but when I plug in the ipods nothing happens. I don't get the option to sync. I looked up some other chats and it was talking about manually doing this through the summary tab but I can't even see this.
Any simple instructions and help would be much appreciated.

My ipod is being stubborn, everytime i connect it to my Windows PC. Its does a new sync despite having changed its setting.
When I check manually manage files. And then copy music files onto Ipod some times. After eject the music is there sometimes its empty.

I have figured out what the problem is with the connectivity issues with the ipods.. I talked to the support person and once you have the most recent upgrade to itunes and your ipod the ipod should sync without any problems. If one does arise and it says that the ipod is not connected you need to follow these steps..
1. Go to start
2. Click Run
3. Type in the phrase services.msc
4. A new applet should appear that says services and there will be a list of a multitude of different applications that appears
5. Right click on the one that says *Apple Mobile Device*
6. You should see the restart Option
7. Click on restart and you should be good to go
After i did this everything worked fine, and if the connectivity error message would happen to appear again you should just follow those steps. Also i have found that the ipod doesnt always appear in My Computer. However, this does not mean that the ipod is not connected to your computer.

Help!!What can I do with this fully discharged iPod Nano???

I know it has this problem because it's fully discharged, but all the technical articles I can find just can't fix it.
When I first connect it to my windows, it shows a fully discharged icon. After a few minutes, I disconnected it from the PC and tried to turn it on. Then I connect it to my windows again, and it shows "use iTunes to restore", then shows " do not disconnect", then automatically switch to "Ok to disconnect"!!! I don't know what to do now, since it always automatically turn to "ok to disconnect", I cannot start charging my iPod Nano. What can I do right now???? Please help me!! Since the first time it showed the fully discharged icon, I think there must be someway to charge it a little bit and force it work again, instead of changing a new battery.

Cannot recieve messages from ipad or iPhone from my iPod. I am able to send messages to them. Have checked the settings.

I figured out that I had to have an iCloud.com address to receive messages from iPhones.
