Can't download 3.0 in Lebanon - I've tried everything
Hey all,
I'm in Beirut, Lebanon working for the summer. I have been trying to download the 3.0 software update for the past few days and whenever I click in iTunes "check for update" I get the message "This version of the iPhone software (2.2.1) is the current version."
I'm running on Lebanon's MTC touch network, not AT&T, but I read that people who were roaming abroad were able to get the update. I even downloaded the update from a link someone posted on macrumors and tried to trick itunes into installing it but it keeps asking the iphone update server for the current version number and being told it's 2.2.1
By the way, I did upgrade to iTunes 8.2 because once I clicked it and it said 3.0 was available and that I had to upgrade first to 8.2 But since then, nothing.
Anyone know? Is Lebanon not allowed to upgrade to 3.0?
I should say that I am using my AT&T sim card, just roaming in Lebanon on MTC touch.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
I can't get my volume to work and have tried everything! Anyone know anything else I can try I really don't want to send it in if I don't have 2!
I am making the assumption - based on the "tags" in your description - that you do not have sounds in apps, games and things like that - but you can hear sound when you use the music app. ......
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

While I was using the internet, the connection was suddenly lost, although the green light of the AE was still on. There was no warning whatsoever. Since then I have tried everything I could think of: I consulted Network Diagnostics & Configurations, the Assistant and Airport Utlility. I also tried resetting it, unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a while, thinking/hoping that perhaps it just needed a break, yet none of the the things I tried has worked. Whenever I use Diagnostics etc. the problem can neither be found nor fixed...!
Restoring the AE won't help, as I need all it's information, to which I don't have access at the moment.
What can I do to get a connection again? Could it have been hacked??Have you checked to see if your ISP carrier's signal is arriving at your home? The ISP may be down, you know. I have had the confusing situation where the AE's light is green, but the signal being received from my ISP was unusable.

I went the homepage. It says "Thanks for downloading", but nothing is downloaded. Did Internet Explorer prevent this?

For the life of me, whenever an article says go to "store" and then click on authorize, I can't find the area, no matter how hard I look, I am a senior citizen, and use a PC, maybe this is an Apple thing...I do have an Iphone and love it, but I purchased a song, and it will not download, it always says something like the network terminated......can someone please direct me to a place when I'm in the Itunes store where to click....Pleeeeeeaaaaase many thanks in advance ....grandpa Peter
If you're running iTunes 11 and you don't see the menus, press Control-B or go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":
Apple for some inexplicable reason elected to hide the menus by default in the Windows version of iTunes 11.
I doubt that this will address a download problem, though. You'll need to provide more details about that; what device you're attempting the download on, the exact error message, and other such pertinent information.

Can't delete photos from Iphone Photo Stream - Have tried everything Apple has instructed me
I am soooooooo frustrated. I just downloaded OS 5 on my Iphone 4 and bought Apple TV - and was introduced to what looked like the wonderful world of "iCloud" and Photostream. Particularly photo stream on my screen saver on my new Apple TV. I took numerous shots this weekend, most which I wanted to delete - with my Photo Stream on and all settings set on iCloud - my Iphone, and my PC.
For the life of me, I can not delete photos in my Iphone Photostream. I have done all you said Apple - go to iCloud - and "Reset PhotoStream..." (actually tried this about 10 times in the last 48 hours - and all I get is...
“Could Not Reset Your Photo Stream.
Your Photo Stream could not be reset at this time due to a server error. Try again later…”
I know I';m not alone on this as I have seen other postings/users with the similar complaint.
I have turned on and off - the on - the photostream on my Iphone - yes - it deletes the photos, but then when you turn it back on, they ALL come back - including the unwanted ones.
I even turned off - then back on- the photo stream on the iCloud DAshboard (because someone said to do it) and it still didn't work.
Then I plugged my Iphone in to the computer - to go into my Photos - and manually deleted the photos I didn't want. . I did delete them, as well as the unwanted photos in Photostream on my PC, but the freaking unwanted photos are still on my iphone - and wont' go away. It's like a virus that won't dissapear. I took pictures of this ugly cow at a pumpkin patch sticking it's tongue out at me, and I can't get rid of them!!!
We have long been fans/customers of Apple (we own 2 iphones, a Mac, and an IPad). And.. just so you know, in all the time I've been writing this, I've been on "hold" waiting for an Apple Tech support person (3rd call to them in 2 days) to pick up, and all I get now is a ringing phone w no one answering it... Click.
I read the other VERY frustrated users on this forum and I don't see one clear cut answer on how to fix these problems. Apple - at least you can recognize the problem, own up to it, and tell us that this will be fixed - which I sure it will be at some point. You have to get this together.
Steve is gone (god bless his soul and I thank him for all he has done) and my experiences with Apple now have turned horrible. And if any tech support person (and I know you guys are very nice and try the best you can) knows a thing or three on how to fix this, my case number is 252 894 095 and I would love to fix this issue. I think it has great potential but it clearly has bugs in it now.If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad. But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software. I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there. If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.

Imac Intel totally stuck with this CD in the drive,
Seriously. Every forum tells us to restart - but we can't because SOMEHOW this burned music CD (that we've had forever) has caused it to freeze on a never-ending blue loading screen.
Help please. Nothing's working. Only every now and then will the drive make some sounds to eject and then fails.

It sounds like the disk has become stuck in the drive and when it attempts to eject it becomes stuck on the inside of the drive housing or the optical drive itself has failed in some fashion.
Follow all the steps under "The drive doesn't eject discs or discs eject slowly".
If the steps don't help then follow the last step which is to take the system in for service / evaluation.

I'm have this problem since about a month ago, it just all of a sudden started to ask me everytime I boot to choose startup drive.
I have tried in the system preference startup and selected OSX (it's also shown as selected)
I have tried holding control in the boot screen when selecting system drive.
I have tried selecting osx in the windows bootcamp manager preference..
whatelse can I do ???

Can't share between two computers, and I've tried everything in this forum
Two Computers - iMac G3, Intel MacBook Pro, both running 10.4.9 and iTunes 7.1.1. I've got iTunes Firewall through port 3689 turned on on both. Both are on a wireless connection on the same subnet. I've got Share library" turned on in iTunes and also "look for shared libraries". Still can't get the libraries to show up. This has worked in the past, but I haven't used it much. The MacBook is new and this is the first time trying to do this, but it did work with the PowerBook it replaced.
Could it be an authorization thing?
At my wit's end on this, and wife is getting P.O'd that I'm spending so much time on it instead of what I should be doing. Save my marriage and help me out.

MacBook Pro, G3 iMac Mac OS X (10.4.9)I've got a similar problem. I have just copied my music library to an external HD connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station. I would like for both computers to share a single library so that I could import a CD, or buy a song from the iTunes Store, on either computer and the library file would be updated. At the moment, both computers can play songs from the external HD, but, for example, if I add a new song to the library from my G4, then turn on my MacBook Pro and open iTunes, the new song doesn't appear.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Both computers running OS 10.4.9 with iTunes 7.1.1. I've tried sharing the libraries as Micalk mentioned... no dice. -

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
