Check your Purchased Folder (left hand side of iTunes, under the Store Category). If you see the song in the folder than you have downloaded it successfully, no matter what the error message was. If the song isn't there you need to check your Purchase History. You can do this by clicking on iTunes Store (left hand side of iTunes, under the Store Category) Then on the right hand side of the store page is a category called Quick Links. Click on Account and sign in and check to see if the song is in your Purchase History. If it IS there and NOT in your Purchased folder (left hand side of iTunes) than you should e-mail the iTunes store and let them know your situation and what the error message said while downloading. You can e-mail the store by using the e-mail form on this page http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/buy/
Don't forget to make sure your computer meets System Requirements for having iTunes on your computer ~.~

I can not download 19 songs that I recently purchased on my laptop. I am getting the message that my Nano is not an authorized device. Even though I have had it for years and it has many songs downloaded from my laptop. I even decided to do the restore and it is still saying that the 19 songs can not be downloaded to my nano. I did recently upgrade my window's 7 version. Maybe this has created the problem.

Yes, the upgrade is the likely cause.
First you should try to deauthorize your computer/iTunes library before attempting to authorize it again. To do this, click the Store drop down menu in iTunes and choose Deauthorize this Computer. Then enter in your iTunes account credentials.
When it has finished, choose Store -> Authorize this Computer and again enter in your Apple ID account credentials.
Finally, try resyncing your Nano to see if that makes a difference.

You are looking in the wrong "Purchased" section (a bit confusing, I know). You need to click on the iTunes Store. Once there, on the right side you will see a Quick Links section - under that you will see Purchased. Click on that Purchased. A window will display with Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc. Click on Music, then on Songs. Also, at the top of the window, you will see All and Not on this Computer/Mac, click on All.
You should then see a list of all purchased songs, and any that are not downloaded currently will have a little cloud next to them. You can click individually on a particular cloud to download that song, or you can click on Download All at the bottom to download all that are not currently on your computer.

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with pre-order issues. It contains steps to report your issue for further assistence:
You can use your email receipt to report a problem. If you use Family Sharing and you have an problem with a shared item, ask the family member that bought the item to report the problem using the steps below.
To report a problem with an item you bought, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the item you're having a problem with.
Enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having a problem with.
Select your problem from the Choose Problem menu.
Follow the onscreen instructions. You might be asked to describe the problem in a text field.
Click Submit and we'll review your problem.
Find out what to do if an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open.

How can I download a song (that I jsut purchased) without losing all my other songs?

I just purchased a song this morning from iTunes, and I want to download it into my ipod nano without losing all my other songs. But if I go to hit sync on computer I will lose all my other songs that I have and just have the ones that are currently in my itunes. I just want to add a new song without losing all my other songs. Is there a way I can do this?

Select the iPod in iTunes. Go to the iPod's Summary tab. Check the box for Manually manage music. When you Apply this change, you will no longer be using automatic syncing. To load songs on the iPod, you drag songs from the iTunes library to the iPod.
But telling you this is odd, because if you already have songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library, you must already be using Manually manage music.
Also, you'll need to remember to eject the iPod (using the button next the iPod in iTunes) before you physically disconnect it.

One song i have purchased has not uploaded, matched, or anything. The file on my hard drive is corrupted. How do i get the ability to re-download a song that was purchased over 90 days ago?

I have purchased an album in the itunes store over 3 years ago.
"Most" of the album went to the cloud when I went to iTunes Match.
One song did not, rather, it stays in a category, "waiting".
How do I get the ability to re-download this song, since it is NOT in the cloud, not on iTunes Match, and the file is degraded on my system? Thanks

Is the album still available in Itunes store? Can you redownload it fro previous purchases?

I pre-ordered it and they all the songs say purchased but I don't know how to download them.

I ended up turning off my phone and was able to download. Maybe this will help the next person who has the same issue.

'the item you tried to buy is no longer availible'
the availibility of the item changed while you were using the store. the same item may be availible with a different price or elsewhere in the store.

Well if your on the east coast its past midnight now, Sept 5th and this is when the album is being released. So there changing it from a pre order to a "Buy Now" status/

TS1424 How can I re-download a song that was never downloaded in the first place, because of access error in the iTunes store. It's grayed out now so I can not even attempt to download it again.

I was downloading some Kelly Richey stuff, and one of the songs started to download but then stopped and I got an error message saying something about not having enough permissions to do what I was doing.

Unfortunately the battery ran out and since its no longer charging either... I'd say its ka-poot for this little iPod. But as far as I recall, when you right click the "unknown device" on that picture I posted there's a drop down menu with tons of options. I didn't dare click on any coz I might just make things worse.
I've also done the whole uninstall then reinstall iTunes related stuff. That didn't work as well. I think there was another webpage which gives you like 13 potential steps to solve the problem. I recall having to empty my laptop's temporary files for that.
Anyway, my last resort was plugging it onto a whole new computer and restore it to factory settings from there. Well that computer didn't even recognize anything plugged. I tried USB ports 1.0-3.0 on that one too.
That being said I do wanna say thank you so much for trying to help me out. You're awesome. And for those who happen to find a solution for this... please post it here how you did it. Just in case I ran into the same problem again.

Can't get a song that was purchased. What do we need to do?

We purchased our first song from iTunes from a redeemed iTunes Music Card. It did its download, but then gave a message stating the file may be corrupt. Then suggested to run 'Check for Purchases...'. We ran 'Check for Purchases' and waited and waited and waited (over 30 minutes on the last attempt) only to never get a response. What happened? Is there something we should be doing different? We've attempted this many times including from shuttting down the iTunes app and even after rebooting. Same result. Now the song isn't even under the 'Download' icon.
Can someone help?

All music available from your ipod app must be synced through itunes so you cannot save a song sent by email to the ipod app directly on your phone.
