Can't download itunes 10.7 without updating to Mac OS X 10.6.8

I downloaded itunes 10.7 but cant install it unless i update my software to Mac OS X 10.6.8. I just got the iphone 5 and need to activate but am not able to due to that error message.
When i check software updates thats not available to not sure what to do.

I am am having the same problem.  My macbook is from 2009 and recently stopped updating to the latest software.  Apparently my license agreement or whatever has run out and in order to get the latest software I have to pay for it.  However my mac has been running so slow lately I fear paying to update for fear that my mac will just die.  So sad, my mac has always been so good until recently.  My itunes kept saying it was up to date and it wouldn't update my iphone, so I went to the website and downloaded 10.7 only to find out that I can't install it.  So sad, my computer is officially so outdated that I can't do anything now without paying!  ****....whats a girl to do.  I feel you on this.  Im running on Mac 10.5.8 too, and yep...were just that outdated.

i can't download itunes 10.6.3 on my mac and the apple site shows itunes 10.7 but my OS version is 10.5.8 so 10.7 itunes wont be compatible right?

  • Where can i download itunes 10.3.9 for my mac g5

Hi,i just bought this mac from ebay, which came with a verson 10.3.9 everytime i click software update,it said software up todate already.and my main problem i can't download itune .

Please be very clear on your computer model and what software you are running.  There is conflicting information in your post.
itunes 10.3.9 for my mac g5
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.3.x)
    A Mac Pro is not a G5.
A Mac Pro cannot run OSX 10.3.x
A G5 can possibly run OSX 10.3 if it is an older model and has not been upgraded.  I doubt then that it can run iTunes 10-anything though.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.
Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

  • Can I download itunes 11.1 if I have Mac OS X 10.6.8?

I just updated my ipod touch 5 software to ios 7 and now my iMac is telling me I need to download itunes 11.1.  I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, but it is not allowing me to download itunes 11.1.  Please help.  Thank you!

The same thing happened to me.  I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Once I downloaded the IOS 7 on my phone and then connected to iTunes on my Mac it wouldnt let my phone connect.  I had to go to www.itunes.com and "redownload" itunes.  It worked fine after that.  What it is not doing is....it is not giving me the the radio tab when I am in music in my library.  I still have the old internet tab which just gives me streaming radio stations.  Cant figure it out.

  • I can't install iTunes 10.7 without updating MAC OS, not sure which version to install

I just bought the iPhone 5, trying to synch with iTunes to get settings, contacts, photos etc. installed. Got a message that iTunes version 10.7 or later is required. Went to www.itunes.com and downloaded the update, got a message that it requires MAC OSX version 10.6.8 or later. My MAC (Intel based) is currently running 10.5.8. When I select Software Update, it tells me that all software is up to date. I'm not sure what to do next. After some searching, I found:
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Is this ok to install on my machine?

There's no fine print to it. In fact, the print is just as big as everything else on the page...
    Look here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
    Under System Requirements:
Apple ID (required for some features)
    Internet access5
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

  • Can't download itunes/ipod updater

I already posted a couple of months ago, but got no response. I've been putting the problem off, but it is extremely annoying.
I'm running Windows XP. My internet settings are ALL set to default. I can't download iTunes or the iPod Updater. I get this error message: "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." I've searched google, these discussion boards, and other discussion websites. I've posted on a couple of them as well, but kept getting the same response- set everything to default and make sure downloads are enabled. Been there, done that! That is NOT the solution, although it seems to have helped many others.
I browsed through the other topics on this thread, but they all seem to be different variations on the same problem. So I figured I'd be better off posting my own than trying to adapt to their problems.
    Any suggestions??

    hi Christina!
... you know, i don't have the foggiest idea about how to fix this one ...
but why not try just cutting the Gordian knot? do you have access to a PC with a CD burner that
    b can
    download the software?
if so, why not download and save to the hard drive the two installer packages (and a QT 7 standalone installer, while you're at it). burn them to a CD-R, carry them back to your PC and copy them across to your hard drive.
    love, b

If you don't use your phone and you don't use iTunes, what are you expecting to use? Your options to update your device are Over The Air through Settings>General>Software Update or by connecting the device to iTunes and updating.
    Best of luck.

I researched the advice on the link provided by b noir as well as very similar advice from apple support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376. It worked for me (for now).
    Some things of note:
I did all of the things requested by the link I provided
My computer WOULD NOT uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. I had to manually remove the folder (also as instructed by the url)
I also uninstalled MobileMe. Was a little different than removing the other apps. Follow instructs provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2992
    I did not uninstall iCloud
I have to admit it was a bit scary removing all those things. Is important to note that when re-installing Apple, follow steps to do so as Administrator (the right-click thingy and whatnot).
    Hope this helps!

  • I can't get itunes 11.1 to update or even download

I can't get itunes 11.1 to update or even download on my laptop i have windows 8 and it's a 64bit it just says theres an error everytime.

If I buy more iCloud space and back up my phones to that will I still be able to get everything from my iTunes on my phones that way?
Backing up your phone isn't really relevant. You can download items you've already purchased (from the iTunes Store on your Mac) to your phone. If you have items you didn't purchase, e.g. ripped CDs, you would have to subscribe to 'iTunes Match' ($24.99 p.a.) to be able to do the same thing with them.

  • I can not download Itunes Windows7 I keep Getting Error2 Windows error2

I CAN NOT download itunes for windows 7 -I Have already removed all apple from my programs -I keep getting Error2 Windows Error 2 ---- Why do they do updates that SCREW up what I've already Had Since 2010 ?????????????????? HOW DO I FIX THIS ????

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

  • I can't download itunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 64 bit

    I can't download itunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 64 bit.
I tried the suggestion to delete existing iTunes before installing the updated version.
I receive a message that a file is in use when I try to delete iPOD.
I started Task Manager to stop services for iTunes as suggested but it is not listed.
    How do I install iTunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 - 64 bit?

I got the same message about the network resource that I can't access.  The only difference is that I couldn't install Itunes 10.3 because I can't remove the old version of Bonjour.  I couldn't get rid of anything in add/remove programs, but I went into my program folders and deleted everything that had to do with Itunes.  I also ran a Windows Cleanup Utiltiy.  Nothing will work.  I still can't remove Itunes, Bonjour, Quicktime, MobileMe Control Panel, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support, or Apple Software Update in add/remove programs because they are on a network resource that I can't access even though I deleted them from the program folders.  This is very frustrating!

How can I download itunes when I get the following errors  ..ituneshelper did not install correctly error 7..I .have installed and uninstalled a dozen times with various fixes...b noir for example and used Revo to clean up.
This has been a problem for 6 weeks now, I retry when I have time and patience and use my other laptop which is also Windows 7 and runs with no problem.
Every attempt fails when all seems fine on the desktop and I try to log on to Itunes I get the errors.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
