Can't download Nano update

I'm in Cameroon volunteering for the next two years and connecting to the Internet via my cellphone -- that means SLOW. Works great for e-mail but downloads can be tricky.
I cannot download the new Nano software. I was able to get the new iTunes by using an add-on to my web browser that is very smart about managing downloads. But the Nano update does not appear to be available anywhere on the 'net except via iTunes and I can't download a single thing through there -- network timeouts, etc. I have actually tried, incessantly, for two weeks with no luck.
Does anyone know of anyway to get this update if you are on a slow Internet connection? I wanted to restore my Nano, but cannot even do that with the old updater -- it says it's no longer compatible and shuts down.
Very frustrating.

You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com

It may just be a glitch. Try going into the app store signing out, then sign back in and see if it clears up.

Disable anti virus software.
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now here:
~/Library/Preferences
Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
com.apple.appstore.plist
com.apple.storeagent.pllist
Now here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.

Where can I download an update to MAC OS X 10.6. I'm trying to update my old MacBook Pro so I can update my iPad and iPhone using iTunes. I'm running MAC OS X 10.4 at the moment and have check that its possible just cant fine anywhere on the Apple Store web site to download the upgrade!!. or is my only option to buy a second hand version off ebay? thanks

Updates are done through Software Update and are free downloads. Upgrades you have to purchase - NOT free. Therefore, you must purchase Snow Leopard - how can I purchase snow leopard is a good place to start.

I researched the advice on the link provided by b noir as well as very similar advice from apple support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376. It worked for me (for now).
Some things of note:
I did all of the things requested by the link I provided
My computer WOULD NOT uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. I had to manually remove the folder (also as instructed by the url)
I also uninstalled MobileMe. Was a little different than removing the other apps. Follow instructs provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2992
I did not uninstall iCloud
I have to admit it was a bit scary removing all those things. Is important to note that when re-installing Apple, follow steps to do so as Administrator (the right-click thingy and whatnot).

Have you checked the app settings for the Play Store?
Motorola also has data or power management settings that can restrict how applications can downloads updates.

Yes, but back up the library first. Note that if you're using Mac OS X 10.5.8, you won't be able to update iTunes past 10.6.3.

All content from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it, so the id that shows when trying to download updates should be the account that 'owns' that app. Do you recognise the id that is showing e.g. has anybody else downloaded or synced content to your iPad ?

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.

I can't download and update app for 2 days it show waiting and cannot connect to itune store,please help me! I try to sign out and sign in apple id but it's not work

For the Can't connect to the iTunes Store Message .....
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead a year or two. You will probably get some sort of error message telling you to correct the date so that you can connect to the server. Go back to the setting and set the date and time to Automatically on again.
See if you can can connect to the iTunes store.
For the "waiting" icons .....
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
