Can't download or install new version of firefox

I use 64-bit windows 7 os in Dell inspiron 15R laptop. My firefox browser was up-to-date until a couple of days before. Then soon it started crashing. No way I could sustain a window open for more than a few seconds. (If i reboot the system it may last for a few more minutes) At last as a last retort i uninstalled firefox and downloaded the latest version (Firefox Setup 25.0.1). But now when i tried to run the setup file, it says i can't run that in the version of widows i'm using. but, i have been using firefox in the same machine for years now! then from another link i downloaded Firefox Setup Stub 25.0.1. But running this file does not proceed at all! It shows 'downloading' for hours without progress. Now i could manage to install an old set-up file 16.0.2 but i could no way be upgraded. How can i upgrade to the latest version. I simply loved firefox more than any other browser and i've been using it for years. This is the first time i'm facing such a big headache. Please help me figure this out. (thanks in advance for the patient reading)

this link you offered says: "can't find page"
Ninite, as it started "run", then got an error: An error occurred. The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect [0x80072f0d] ; ; 216
any other ideas ?
Any chance other browsers don't let me download Mozilla ? had if for years, went to update it, then uninstalled it, now neither Google Chrome or Internet Explorer will let me download it. Or maybe it is just my laptop, running on Windows 7 ? ? ? ? ? ?

  • Installed new version of Firefox, now scroll wheel does not work

Installed new version of Firefox, now my scroll wheel does not work. I need this fixed immediately or will be forced to abandon Firefox as my browser. Can anyone help? I saw some Q&A on this but no definite fix. Thanks!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Immediately after I installed

I have the same problem, plus more. I cannot click on a button, does no good. I have been using 3.01, would never upgrade; always had a problem since 3.5. Now I upgrade to 3.66 figuring the problems were over, wrong. No scroll wheel, no buttons, cannot close half the windows, cannot go to a bookmarked page. Did Microsoft take over Mozilla? If I wanted a junk browser, I would use IE. I want the Firefox that it used to be; stable, reliable. What happened? Only way I can get Firefox to work is in safe-mode.

  • How can I update to the new version of Firefox if I have Linux Canaima 2.0?

Hi! I have a laptop acer and I have installed Linux Canaima 2.0.3, which is a debian distribution with some features of Ubuntu. I downloaded the new version of Firefox, but could not install because it tells me that there are certain dependencies with the old version and how to do to remove the previous version of browser and install the new one. Please I need your help. Thanks in advance.

Either you need to install those missing dependencies or install a more up to date Linux distro version that has more current packages and not ones that are probably from 4+ years ago being based on a long term support debian version.
There is a Canaima 3.0 which was released May 2011 for example. http://canaima.softwarelibre.gob.ve/
You might be able to install Firefox 3.6.18 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.2.8 and recently changed cable companies. Since the change, Internet is SLOW, wheels spinning forever, ets.

  • Can't download and install new itunes "upgrade"

I am trying in vain to upgrade my itunes to the latest version (something I need to purchase can not be purchased without the upgraded itunes version). Every time I attempt to download the new version of itunes, it says it has downloaded, but it is actually nowhere to be found on my computer. Nowhere. I have searched the entire machine, tried changing the default settings to make it drop into a specific folder. I tried restarting, using Firefox instead of Safari, and a host of other things and nothing changes.
This is insanity. How hard should it be to download a free upgrade of itunes software?

Why are you installing through the Adobe Application Manager?  Did you purchase Photoshop or subscribe?  If you purchased Photoshop then please see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006208?tstart=0&promoid=KBHJQ for information on how to download and install your purchased software.

  • Can't download and install latest version of Flash...

I have tried several times to download and install the latest version of Flash player. It says it's downloaded, shows me that it's installing, then, when I click "Finish", it takes me to a website that says "Step 3 of 3", but is otherwise blank. I continue to see an error message on websites that require Flash; the error message tells me that Flash is out of date. Not sure how that's possible, since I just (supposedly) downloaded and installed the latest version from the website. I have walked through all of the troubleshooting steps on the Adobe site, with no luck. It's quite frustrating. What else can I do?

How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X

  • Can't seem to install new version of Flash

My new cell phone/PDA has a CD with software I need, as well as an instruction manual.  When I insert the CD I get a message that I need Flash--at least version 8--to view the CD.
I have read everything at Adobe, and tried many things to uninstall old Flash versions and install latest version 10.  I keep getting the same message.  I have made certain that nothing else is running as I uninstall old version.  I have downloaded uninstall aids from Adobe.  I have cleared registry--which Adobe says is a biggie with Internet Explorer (even though I use Firefox).
    Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks!

  • Want to install new version of Firefox but "permissions denied".

Firefox has prompted me to update but when I download the new release and try to intstall a pop-up tells me that permissions are denied. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to overcome this? Thanks

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • If i install new version of Firefox with standalone installer instead of using built in updater, should i uninstall older version first? Would i lose my datas?

As part of end of year maintenance program, i clean my computer and update softwares. I'm currently with Firefox 4.0.1, and want to upgrade to 8. However, the built in updater downloads horribly slow and demands the browser to be active. Most of the times it stated failure and asks me to download the installer myself.
I'm okay with this. Firefox has always be my favorite. But before i do 8.0.1's installation, should i uninstall the old one? Or will it be rewritten automatically? Would i lose my bookmarks and extensions this way?
    Win7 64 bit
p.s: (if someone could tell me how to back up 'Scrapbook' data i'll be so thankful)

You can install latest version on top of older version, and if you install on top of older version, your bookmark will restored

  • Unable to install new version of firefox 3.6.14

can download latest version of firefox using ei, but when I try to install firefox a window pops up say 'unable to install until the running copy of firefox is closed. Check Task manager & there are no tasks running. Now do i get over this problem!

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6.* you can uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Where can I download an early'r version of firefox

I simply do not like the new version{4.0 beta}but after doing a hard start on my computer eseting it back to the factory settings I cant find an early'r version to download..where can i get an early're version download''/.

There is no public release of Firefox 64 bit for Windows yet - only for Mac and Linux. I believe the trial versions haven't been stable.
I don't think we are missing much at this stage.

  • I cannot download since the new version of firefox fix it

ever since i install firefox ver. 6 i cant download anything box comes to save then nothing cant run to open

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Firefox.exe has "disappeared" so I can't open it. If I download and install new version will I lose all my bookmarks etc?

I've had a lot of crashes, some just firefox, some the whole computer. In process of migrating to new machine so wasn't overly concerned. But after a restart today, I found I could not get firefox to open at all. After finding the system searching for firefox.com, I checked program files\mozilla firefox and firefox.exe is not there. A search showed it not to be anywhere. Not ready to stop using this machine just yet. Any way to get firefox.exe reloaded without losing all my related stuff??

As long as you do not delete your Firefox personal settings or application data, they should remain after a reinstall.
Don't run the Firefox uninstaller, simply run the installer that you download. This will just install over your previous installation.
<b>Note:</b> To be 100% safe, I would recommend backing up your Firefox application data folder.
