Can't download past purchases

Hi
I am unable to download old purchases from itunes.
I have made several purchases from itunes on my old Win XP laptop but i am unable to re-download them onto my new Win 7 laptop
I have authorised both Laptops with my Apple ID and the purchases are shown in the download history of the purchases list. However when i try and down load them i get the following message
"Your computer is already assosiated with an apple ID"
I have tried re-authoriseing the new laptop but the message still shows
can anyone help with this?

If you can't re-download them via the Purchased tabs in the App Store and/or iTunes store apps then you can copy them from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to your phone.

  • I can't download past purchases on any of my devices

I have not been able to re-download a certain album on any devices. When I enter Itunes and look at the album it just says purchased and I can't download it. Also it doesn't appear when I turn view purchases on in settings (so any purchases not downloaded will appear in the usic app.)

    Hello, The iHelper.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps that I would go through when accessing and downloading previous purchases.  If you search for a purchased item in the iTunes Store it doesn't at this time give you an option to download it again.
Download previous purchases on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Make sure your iOS device meets these system requirements:
    iOS 4.3.3 or later
You need iOS 5 or later to download items to iPhone (CDMA model).
iBooks 3.0 or later to download books
If you can't find an item in Music or Videos using the steps below, you might try downloading it from the iTunes Store app:
iPhone or iPod touch: Tap the iTunes Store app and go to More > Purchased.
    Download past purchases

    Hope this helps,

  • Deleted all iTunes music, now can't download past purchases.  Help!

I've somehow deleted all my iTunes music.  All the file names are still in the library but every time I select one I get the "can't find original file" message and now it won't let me download my past purchases.  How do I fix this?

Do you still have them in your computer's recycle bin/trashcan that you can restore them from ?
If not then what you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If music shows there (it won't in all countries) but doesn't have the cloud symbol against then try deleting the tracks so that they are no longer listed in the Music part of your library (where you are getting the 'unable to locate' message) and they should then get the cloud symbol in Purchased. Or you can tick the 'shows iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tick box on the Store tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences if using a Mac) and they should then show with the cloud icon in the Music part of your library so that you can redownload them from there (again you will need to delete the missing tracks for them to potentially show for redownloading).
If you've changed countries since downloading them then you won't be able to redownload them, nor if the rights-holder has removed them from the store.

  • HT1848 I need to re-download past purchases to my itunes account. How do I do this with out buying them again?

I have a new computer. I moved files of all types from my old one to my new one but songs that I purchased from itunes store did not come with the library when I transferred it. They are still on my ipod touch but they will not come back to my itunes account on the computer. A little frustrating, I do not want to purchase them again, there are quite a few. I don't want to sync with my account as it is and risk losing them entirely. How do I fix this? Carl.

Open itunes, connect ipod, click File>Transfer Purchases

  • You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days

I have a mac which my fiancee and I share. There are 2 separate accounts and 2 separate apple ids used to buy different music (i.e. we have 2 separate iphones and music collections).
I received the following error (see uploaded image) which states that, "you can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days".
Now, when I sync my iTunes and iPhone only some music that I have previously purchases is affected. For some reason they failed to sync with my iPhone and become unavailable in my iTunes ("file cannot be found"). When I deleted the record I saw that it became available for download in iTunes and then discovered this issue.
I have legally purchased the music and just want to be able to sync the files legitimately. It just seems very restrictive to say that you have to have 2 different machines for every account (i.e. you cannot have multiple users on a device with their own accounts which each have their own Apple IDs).

    Hi
No - that is the issue - both my husband and I use the same computer and want to be able to use our individual Apple IDs so can access our download content e.g. I-books that we have purchased through our other MAC devices such as I-Pad.  In the past, we had four people using one computer with no problem regarding Apple ID.   In the newer operating system, we are now restricted to one at a time - it means one of us is blocked out from accessing our content for a period of 90 days.   Have you any suggestions on how we can both use our individual Apple IDs with the same lap-top?  We have set up discrete accounts so we log on to the computer individually.  Many thanks for any help.

  • You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 90 days.

So i signed into my other itunes account to download some purchase i had made on that account, went to sign back into my new account and download purchases i had made on my iphone adn it tells me "You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 90 days.". This is a shared family computer with multiple Apple IDs being used on it. Not cool apple. This needs to be figured out. Not acceptable for families that have more than one apple ID to have to wait 3 months to download old purchases. Get real. Any way i can 'override' this?

You can download past purchases on the computer with just one apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 75 days." WHAT??
I've never had problems before - my husband and I have used the same library for years.  My daughter also has her own Apple ID... are we going to have trouble with that, too?  Actually we have 4 Apple IDs - somewhere around 8 Apple devices... this is a huge issue for us... HELP

Just to be clear - I just bought a new song and can't download it into the library because of this error message.

  • Can't play my library: "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID...you can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days.  You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 88 days." Got a fix?

Since my daughter burned a CD from my computer using our shared libraries I cannot play my library.  This pops up:  "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.  You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 88 days."  I can get as far as viewing my library but listening is denied by this pop-up.  Can anyone help, please?   I just noticed my (this) computer is not showing as registered to my account. Hmmm....a clue perhaps?

    Do you have a question?

(Note, mine says 28 days because I have been waiting for a fair bit for this to go away.)

You can't keep changing the ID you use with iTunes, you are limited to once every 90 days.

  • I purchased an album and didn't receive all of the cuts.  I have Itunes 9.2.1 so I can't use the new  "download past purchases" feature.  How do I get the rest of the songs?

Look under the Store menu in iTunes on your computer for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You may find the tracks there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department from their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form, or an "Email Us" button) and explain the problem to them.
