  • Unable to download pdf files from websites

For a month now I have been unable to dowload PDF Files from websites.
I have un-installed Adobe Software & re-installed hoping this would solve
this on going problem. But I am afraid it has not this problem seems to
have accured since the latest up date of Sarfari I trust Apple are coming up with
some sort of solution to this current problem ??

Far as I know the problem isn't on Apple's end. I'm download PDF files with no problem. But I've experienced what you are in the past and I think you were on the right track when you suspected Adobe. In the main Library folder (not the one in your personal directory) there's a folder called Internet Plugins. Look inside for a file called AdobePDFViewer and delete it. If I remember properly, you force Adobe Reader to install a new one by just starting Reader and it will ask if you want to install the PDF reader. Or, you might want to look at this plugin which, in my opinion, beats Adobe's plugin hands down.

  • No longer able to download pdf files from websites.

    I am running Firefox 11.0 & Aurora on a Mac with OS X 10.6.8.
I used to be able to download pdf files, such as my bank staements, direct from websites with no problem on either browser.
Recently, when clicking on the link, the dialog box asking whether I want to save it or open it no longer appears and nothing else happens. Can't download. My wife has the same problem with a new Mac with OS x 10.7 Lion.
I am also running an older version of Firefox 3.6.28 on a Mac with PPC processor & OS X 10.5.8. With this I have no problems downloading the pdf files I want.
I have compared the Firefox preferences between the two machines and made them the same. Also found the ''Unable to download or save files'' link on Firefox Help and I have Reset the browser.download configs as it suggested. And nothing has changed.
What to do? Anybody out there can help me? Thanks in advance.

Okay, I think I fixed it by going to Add-ons Manager and disabling Adobe Acrobat NPAPI plug-in, version 10.1.3. Now I'm back to downloading PDFs, then opening or saving.

  • I can't download PDF's from website that uses Adobe Reader on my Windows 8 phone?

For work I need to be able to download PDF's from a particular website.  It utilizes the Adobe Reader but when I try to download a PDF, it doesn't do anything.  I tried to download the "Adobe Reader" from the website but it says that I do not hav the system requirements to do so.  This problem started after they did the Adobe update.  I haven't been able to download these PDS's since then.  I need to be able to do this for work....  Any suggestions?  or when will this issue be fixed?  Thank you!!!

I have the same problem.  Or similar.  A few weeks ago, i installed Adobe reader (because i had a pdf attachment that was unreadable in Preview, so i wanted to try Adobe to see if that would work; it didn't work).  Since then, i can't open PDF files on the web. I get a black screen or sometimes a white one. and i can sometimes open them indirectly, if there is the option on the link. I thought this problem started after i deleted Adobe however. I'm not sure because i wasn't expecting this problem and am not exactly sure the sequence of when things happened, but i wanted to delete Adobe reader because i had no use for it. Unfortunately, they didn't provide an uninstaller. I put the application in the trash and whatever else was in the folder, and emptied the trash, but got a lot of messages about various files not being able to be deleted because they were in use.  I think it was since then that i can't open PDF files.  Never had a problem before getting involved with Adobe Reader. Anyway,  as far as your answer goes, i have already deleted as much of it as i can.
Any other suggestions?  i downloaded the Adobe installer to reinstall it if that's what it takes. i need to be able to open PDF files.
    Thanks

  • Download pdf-files from websites is disabled!???

Some websites provide additional information by making the user download a PDF-file. For some reason (can't really say since when), whenever I need to download a PDF, either there's a blank location-address or Firefox just stops whenever the PDF-link has been found, without crashing though.
I'd be happy to know how to resolve this problem.

  • Can't download pdf files from the internet?

I can't seem to download my utility bill pdf files from the internet? I use to but in the last few months i haven't been able to. Can anyone help, please?

What is your operating system & version?
What web browser do you use?
    What is your Reader version?
    What exactly means "can't"?

  • Can't read pdf files from websites

I have tried to read pdf files on two different websites this morning and neither of them will display. I just get a black screen. I have updated to the latest version and have set Adobe Reader as my default reader. I have a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.5.
    Please help. Very frustrated.

    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files.
    Empty the trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
PDFs will now open in the browser.

  • Can't download PDF files from Firefox or Safari

When I click on a PDF from a webpage it has always downloaded and opened with Preview. Recently (potentially correlated to when I had to download Adobe Acrobat) the PDFs won't open at all.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Hit the link for the PDF-you will be given option to open in safari or iBooks(or any other program able o open PDFs).
That's not what she asked about.  She asked about saving PDFs, not just opening them and reading them.  While Safari lets you open PDF documents, it does not let you save them.  In order to save them, you'll need to use a web browser that permits downloading.  I use Atomic Web Browser and can confirm that it does permit downloading and saving of PDF documents.

When you open a pdf in iBooks, it's automatially saved there.

  • Unable to download pdf files from emails or websites

I used to be able to download pdf files from emails and websites on my Windows vista 2007 computer, but am now unable to save or download them.  Is there something I need to adjust in my security system which hasn't changed?

If you're using Vista it's the same procedure as with Windows 7 (which I use) From Tools>Internet Options, click the Programs tab, and then click the Set Programs button. In Windows 7 this will open the Control Panel>Default Programs window. From there you want to click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. Scroll down the list to Portable Document Format (PDF). click it and click the Change Program button. Choose Adobe Reader as the default program, click Ok and then PDFs will download instead of opening in IE.

  • Corrupted content error when trying to download .pdf file from one website.

Unable to download .pdf file from a website, but IE8 provided the download without hesitation.
Both v7 and v8 produced the same message:
    "Corrupted content error"
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected.
This may be a particular website problem, or it may be common to the particular industry segment and their protocols.
I have followed the help leads and examined the profile for Firefox as used in this instance. Nothing untoward seemed to pop out as a causal factor.

Reworked some of the javascript for our webserver and fixed the problem.

I travel a lot and have to bring my files with me as internet is not always available in the countries where I work
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
I've had problems for ages with this but I did notice that after I went through the reinstall with Apple yesterday I now have a couple of different options that are working.
Yesteday I uninstalled reader, restarted my computer and then reinstalled again. I didn't think it had worked for me but after some extra experimentation I have discovered a couple of things.
    On some websites eg: https://www.gatewaycu.com.au/uploadedFiles/PDF/Forms/Quick%20Debit%20Authority.pdf
it is coming up with a toolbar (I suppose it's called) at the top of the PDF and it is allowing me to print and save to my desktop, open the pdf and print YEAH.
Also with another website the PDF is showing up differently. eg http://media.wix.com/ugd/99e891_6110f024d956431abb7b66dd24f19251.pdf
This shows up like it used to but the difference is that if you try to save as or print throught the safari options like I used too it doesn't work, BUT if you hover down the bottom of the PDF it brings up a bar type box (sorry I don't know the technical word for this) then you can print, save to desktop, documents etc and then print from there too.
YEAH! It looks like (I hope) that the problem is solved. You have to go about it in a couple of different ways depending on the website, but hey, I don't think that's so bad as long as I can actually print my PDF's. It's better that not being able to access any of them which is what's been happening for the last few months.
I hope this helps you guys out and if you have any problems just let me know and I'll try and explain it better for you.
    Cheers
    Andrea
