Can't download photos from iMac to iPad.

I have my iPad connected to my iMac. When I bring up iTunes on the mac, it does not show the iPad under devices. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Ralph,
I was too quick in responding. I had to leave the machine and now I'm back. I followed your advice and went to the VIEW menu and clicked Show Sidebar. What shows is Library, Store, Genius and Playlists - no iPad. I do have iTunes 11.  Another suggestion?  By the way, when I click on File and then Devices, hte Sync Don's iPad is not lit up and I'm unable to invoke that. Perhaps that will provide a clue for you.  Don

You can't via Safari, but you should be able to if you use, for example, the 'official' Facebook app.

No. You can move them to computer and from there to the SD card or you can upload them to a Cloud service like Dropbox.

I was able to copy photos via the camera connection kit from my old 3GS to my first gen iPad. There are also apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy photos between iOS devices (and your computer) via your wifi network.

Either by syncing thorugh your computer. Loading it to your comptuer and e-mailing it to yourself - an email you open on the iPad, or by purchasing the camera connection kid (presuming you have an SD card), and transferring them that way

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

  • Can I download photos from I pad2 to computer

Can I download photos from I-pad 2 to the computer?
Also, how I can check or change assuring on my camera at I pad 2? How many megapixel and what size of photo i'm getting?

For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from email/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
If you want to copy back photos that were originally synced from a computer then you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
The rear camera is listed as 720p, which I believe is 1280 x 720

  • Can I download photos from droid phone?

Can I download photos from a droid phone to iPad?

Depends. If you have the camera connection kit you can try importing the photos from your phone to your iPad. However, if your phone is like mine, it won't work. The camera connection kit needs a very specific naming protocol. For it to see files, they need to be in a folder named DCIM and have file names of exactly 8 characters.
What will probably be easier is for you to connect your phone to your computer, get the photos onto your computer and then import them into your ipad. Or perhaps text/mail them off your phone to a mail account you can access on your iPad.
Or if the photos are on a removable memory card, get that to your computer, pull the photos off that way and then use iTunes to sync them onto your iPad.

  • Can I download photos from a digital SLR?

Are attachments available that will allow transfer of photos to an external hard drive?

Don't totyally understand your questions or what you are trying to do. Do they pertain to an iPad?
First you say "Can I download photos from a digital SLR".
You can use Apple's Camera Connection Kit to import photos and videos, but you can't export.
Then you say "Are attachments available that will allow transfer of photos to an external hard drive?"
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
Expand your iPad's storage capacity with HyperDrive

  • Transfer photos from iMac to iPad

Hi Guys - can someone tell me an easier way to transfer photos from iMac to iPad.
Perhaps I've misunderstood, but this is the process I currently go through
create folder called "iPad photos" on desktop
create event called "iPad transfer" on iphoto
copy and paste items from iPhoto to desktop folder
when complete, drag photos from desktop to iphoto
then move the resultant "untitled event" to merge with "iPad transfer"
sync iPad with ONLY "iPad transfer"
This works. However, I've then got exactly TWICE the number of digital photos in iPhoto !
I have the originals, and then the duplicates imported BACK into the iPad transfer folder - so obviously I'm using up valuable memory.
Can someone suggest a simpler more efficient way ?
    Many thanks.

I'm guessing that you are going through all of those steps because you have photos in a number of different events that you want to copy to the iPad and that those events also include photos that you don't want to go to the iPad?
    Two options to consider:
    1) Create an Event for photos that you want to move to the iPad and move all of the photos from where they currently are into that Event. This has the advantage of grouping all of the photos into one Event but the disadvantage that they are no longer in the Event where you may have wanted them for other reasons.
    2) What I do. Use the iPhoto "Album" feature. A photo inside iPhoto can be in one Event and in one or more Albums without occupying any more space. Create an Album (iPhoto File menu New Album) and name it something like "iPad Photos". If you desire you can create additional Albums and drag them onto the main Album to create sub-albums one level deep for better organization. Then simply drag photos from Events to the desired Album and they will be in both places. Then when you sync, select the Album (e.g. "iPad Photos") to sync.

  • HT1689 Download photos from iCloud to iPad

How do you Download photos from iCloud to iPad?

If you are talking about those in your PhtoStream then go to the PhotoStream Album where you can copy them to your Cameral Roll and send them to other places.
Otherwise what iCloud photos are yo referring to?

  • Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?

Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?  The model A1395 is described as "wi-fi only" and has a 30 pin connector for charging.
[By contrast, this is NOT the iPad2 model A1396, which is described as "Wi-Fi/GMS/GPS AT&T" or the Model A1397, which is described as "Wi-Fi/CDMA/GPS Verizon". Nor is it the model A1337, described as "Wi-Fi/3G/GPS (Original)".]
Wi-Fi only seems to me to have an ominous ring to it.  I am synching with my iPhone through the iCloud, if that is of any use.
In addition, I should note that the photo files I want to look at in the iPad are large files, a little over 100 MB in JPEG format.  The desire is to display the whole image (these are archival photos of heirloom quilts) and then be able to focus in on specific details (by enlrging them so that the stitching and other details can be seen).  I mention this because I tthink there may be some 30 MB limit on the size of a file that the iPAD can handle.  Would I be able to examine a larger file (but perhaps npot as large as 100 MB) if I had 64 MB memory in the iPad?
    Winston

WiFi only refers to the fact that the iPad connects to the Internet via WiFi because it does not have cellular capability. That has nothing to do with the ability to put photos on the device.
Sync the photos from the Mac via iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Select the folder from which your photos are located in the Sync Photos From Heading. If you use iPhoto - select that or navigate to the specific photos folder on the Mac.
If you use iPhoto, select all of the albums, or events that you want to sync. If you use another photos folder, you can select one level of sub folders within that main folder.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Having 64GB of storage also has nothing to do with the ability to view the photos on the iPad since that refers to storage capacity. However, the larger the storage capacity, the more photos the iPad will be able to hold.
I know of no limit on the size that a photo needs to be in order to be viewable on the iPad.
If you use iCloud, you can sync photos that you shoot on the iPd and iPhone across devices via Photo Stream, but it just be turned on for this to work. Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream on. Any photos that you take on one device after photo stream is turned on, will sync to the other device.
