Can't download Podcasts.

I am having a problem with the Podcast pages on iTunes via my iPod Touch.
I press on 'iTunes' and then 'Podcasts' and can search & scroll through the lists of Podcasts but when I press on one the screen goes black and returns to the iPod Touch Home Screen.
Everything seems fine with the music pages of iTunes so I'm not sure why I'm having this problem with the Podcasts. I have downloaded Podcasts from my iPod Touch previously.
Anyone have any suggests?
Thanks!

Anybody got any ideas?

  • Can't download podcasts as I "don't have enough access privileges"

    Hi,
I have recently wiped my HD and reinstalled Snow Leopard to try and get around a issue with empty pop up boxes ( see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2381725&tstart=0 ) I have not solved this problem.
I have used migration assistant to bring over my user account.
Now I can't download podcasts in itunes.
I have tried changing the permissions in my music folder and have repaired permissions. I have also checked I have a shared folder.
    Still does not work.
    Any other ideas.
    Thanks for the help

I have tried changing the permissions in my music folder and have repaired permissions. I have also checked I have a shared folder.
What does the Shared folder have to do with this?
Is your iTunes in the /User/Shared/ or in /Users/youruser/Music/ ?

  • How can I download podcasts from new PC to my iPhone 4s?

The phone had been using an iMac iTunes. I've now gone to a PC. (Forced to a PC because FCPX won't support my new video camera.) On new itunes, I registered new computer, backed up iphone, synced iphone (I think) and downloaded purchased music to new computer. But ... I can't get podcasts. I can't transfer old itunes library because it's on a large external hard drive that is not FAT 31. I am willing to lose stuff on present iPhone (only one purchased app) and I can restore music, but how do I get the iphone and new computer together so I can download podcasts, new music, new apps, etc?

If you have synced with iTunes on your new computer, all iTunes content on your iPhone would have been erased first with a warning message provided beforehand indicating this would occur.
Do you have Sync Podcasts selected under the Podcasts tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and are there any podcasts available in your iTunes library on your new PC?

  • Can't download podcast from laptop to ipad

I can't get my podcast lectures for school to download to my ipad. Updated iTunes (windows) and downloaded podcast app. Still get the "unable to download, tap to retry" pop up. Really don't want to spend the semester watching lectures on my heavy, hot dell laptop

    Hey kujo96,
I'd try some of the suggestions in here to see if they help the issue:

  • Can't download podcast episodes over cellular data

I am running the current ios software and have the current Apple Podcast app installed. Since updating to 7.0.4 and installing the current app version, I now am having issues with downloading podcast episodes using cellular data specifically. You try and download an episode and it just freezes and then says "download error, tap to retry". You then get a massive popup saying "unable to download podcast" and underneath this, it says the podcast episode "could not be downloaded at this time". This happens not just with one specific podcast. I have tried everything I can think of and that Apple have suggested. I have:
    - Unsubscribed then resubscribed to podcasts I have seen this issue with
    - Closed out of the app and gone back in
    - Ensured at all times I have been attempting this, that cellular data has been on for podcasts
    - Switched cellular data off for podcasts and as a whole then I have switched back on
    - Done a hard reset of the phone
    - Deleted the Podcast app itself, reinstalled and then tried to download an episode over cellular data
    - Reset Network Settings
    - Performed a full restore of the device
After doing the restore, I set the phone up as new and then installed just the podcast app and was able to download an episode over cellular data. I then restored my data from backup and then all of a sudden, I had the same issue again. I did another reset of the network settings and then the issue went away. The issue has returned yet again today. I called Apple to advise and they say they will investigate and get back to me.
Has anyone else had this issue and have you managed to find a permanent solution? When I am on wifi, I don't have this issue at all. I attempted to download another app and a song from itunes over 3G and had no issues. As such, I can only conclude there must either be an issue with the app itself or ios7.0.4 has done some damage here. I like to download my podcasts on the train to work so don't always have the ability to download over 3G.
    A very annoying issue!

I am having same problem, except mine is a movie rental on 3rd gen ipad wifi. It seems like this problem has been occuring for quite a few years and apple cant be bothered to fix it. It is really annoying because none of the fixes work. My movie is 99% downloaded and i cant play it or delete or retry the download. Its gona be a few months before anyone from apple decides to post to this thread anyway. Its a real shame. In the apple store not one "genius" cud help with this either.

  • Can nolonger download podcasts

Podcasts that have been working fine (i.e. download with no problem) will nolonger download.
When I click on 'Get'... no podcast will download for ANY of numerous podcasts for which I have subscribed.
Instead what I get is an exclamation mark to the left of the podcast with an error message of "Please check that the URL is correct and the connection..."
This even though after unsubscribing and subscribing again... a list of available podcasts appear for download (i.e. the URL appears to be correct).
These had been downloading fine for a very long time.
I've unsubscribed and subscribed again for many podcasts, but still I can't download them.
I've even completely deleted subscriptions... went to the iTunes Store... subscribed to podcasts again... but still I get the exclamation marks and no downloads... even though a list of podcasts appear for downloading.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    TIA
    Ron

    Solved!
I have my iTunes Media folder on another partition.
The link that is here   ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media   ... was broken.
Works fine again now that I have reestablished the link.

  • What is going on with itunes?  I can't download podcasts via iphone 3G.

Same on my wife's 3GS.  It works on my friends iPhone 4.  It is the vast majority of podcasts on a 3G or 3GS.  I can still download a tiny number of the ones I checked (Tech Center) but the biggies (TWIT, Tech News Today, Security Now, Tekzilla) just show the logo on either 3g or WiFi.  This has been going on for almost a week.  My 3G is on iOS 3.1.3 and my wife's 3GS is on 3.1.2.  I have seen reports of others with the same issue on a 3G/3GS on iOS 4.3.3.

Finally found the right thread and the solution.  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3278977?start=15&tstart=0

  • How can I download podcasts on iPod Touch? (I have the RSS feed.)

I have the RSS feed of a podcast that I'd like to download (not just stream) and play on my iPod Touch 4G running iOS 6. I have the Podcasts App (purple icon) and the Music App (brownish-orange icon).
What must I do? When I tap the Podcasts App, It says "You can subscribe to podcasts in Top Charts or the Podcasts Store".  Is it possible to bypass Top Charts and the Podcasts Store and just load the RSS feed URL into some app? I don't think the podcast I want to add is found in either Top Charts or the Podcasts Store.

You are correct my response was supposed to be completely useless for this thread because it is my pet peeve when somebody says 'iTouch'  Please see the picture below to see that the OP did indeed use 'iTouch'.
If you look carefully at your first reply it says 'iPod Touch', looks like they changed it after I said something.
Seeing as I am batting 1.000 might as well ask if you know anything about https://discussions.apple.com/message/21829555#21829555

  • Can't download podcasts in iTunes

I have subscribed to several podcasts. It was since iTunes 6, I think, I can't download some podcasts. My connection is fine. It has improved a bit before with an update, but recently it has got worse. Only 2 podcasts can be downloaded now. Really frustrating. Anyone knows what's happening?
    Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512MB RAM

Hi. I'm having the same issue -- VERY frustrating. Here's what my exlamation says:
"There was a problem downloading [podcast name]. You Do not have enough access priveleges for this operation. Please check that the URL is correct and that the connection to the network is active and try again."
I have looked through my preferences and made sure that the "explicit content" one is NOT checked. I have looked through all other relavant preferences and found nothing out of the ordinary. This happens with EVERY SINGLE PODCAST that exists!!! The network is fine, because firefox runs smooth. I have trouble believing that ALL podcasts have the wrong URL, so what is going on.
Any and all Help is MUCH appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • HT1689 I can't download podcasts

My iPod touch (5th gen) won't let me download podcasts.

    What happens when you try?
What app are you using? The new one that the users guide says to use?
Download the free Podcasts app from the App Store, then browse, subscribe to, and play your
    favorite audio and video podcasts.
    View the podcasts
    in your library.
    Browse all available podcasts.
    Tap a podcast to
    view available
    episodes.
    Browse and preview
    the most popular
    podcasts.
    Scroll to see your
    entire library.
    See the playback
    controls.
    Get podcasts:
•• Browse the full catalog: Tap Catalog, then tap any podcast that interests you.
•• Browse the most popular podcasts: Tap Top Stations (if you don’t see it, tap Library first). Swipe
left or right to change the category, or swipe up or down to browse the current category.
Tap a podcast to preview the latest episode, or tap to see a list of episodes.
•• Stream an episode: Tap any episode.
•• Download an episode so you can listen to it when you’re not connected to Wi-Fi: Tap next to
    any episode.
•• Subscribe to a podcast to always get the latest episode: If you’re browsing the catalog, tap
a podcast to see the list of episodes, then tap Subscribe. If you’ve already downloaded an
episode, tap the podcast in your library, then tap it again at the top of the list of episodes, and
    turn on Subscription.
•• Automatically get the latest episode of a subscribed podcast: Tap the podcast in your library, tap
it again at the top of the episode list, then turn on Auto-Download.

  • Suddenly I can't download podcast episodes to iPhone, but they'll still stream

I seem to no longer be able to download podcast episodes on to my iPhone. When I update/refresh podcasts, the little numbers appear over podcasts, indicating there are new episodes: but when I go through to the podcast, I see the little "cloud + arrow" icon (whereas before they'd download automatically). I press on the cloud/arrow icon: it dims briefly, but nothing happens. In the "My Stations" view, there's the command "Download all" at the bottom: if I press that, it dims briefly, but nothing happens.
The episodes still stream fine: if I play them, they'll play, with occasional lags from streaming. But I now seem unable to download them.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Please, please don't tell me this is just Apple's latest move in "improving" Podcasts: I'd be horrified but not entirely shocked if they decided "No, you don't really want to download podcasts - you should just stream them all the time, because that's the right way to do it. And you want to do it the right way, don't you? The Apple way. The only right way."
This appears to have started this morning, and I updated with iOS 7.0.4 last night. Maybe that's a coincidence, or maybe it's connected.
Just when I was reconciling myself to the Podcasts app ...
    Thanks in advance!

Well, the tried and true may have worked: I turned the iPhone off and then on again, and now downloads seem to be working properly. On/off button, is there anything you cannot do?

  • Can't download podcasts after installing iTunes 7

I have a 6 gig nano, was using iTunes 6 for a long time and built a huge list of podcasts that updated daily. After upgrading to iTunes 7 none of my podcasts will download. If you hit the refresh button they all just post that icon next to the title looking like they are updating but none of them are.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled a number of times. I'd tried each of the updates that have come out. After I do a fresh install it updates the podcasts once, but if I hit refresh again it stops all of them and won't continue updating them.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.
      Windows XP Pro

I have had a problem with iTUNES 7 downloading podcasts as well. If I select more than a couple at a time to download, windows crashes and reboots. Upon rebooting, when I try to re-download the same podcasts, I get the exclamation point icon next to the podcast indicating a network connection issue. What I have to do to resolve it is go to My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads/Podcasts then delete the folder that is named after the podcast. Restart iTunes and then the download works again. I think the guilty file is actually in that folder named (xxx).plist. I still don't understand why iTunes crashes like this though.

  • Can't download podcasts to mac

Hi.  We are trying to download podcasts from iTunes onto an iMac. There is an exclamation mark next to podcasts but no other explanation.  There may be a problem with the permissions of the computer as the message "attempting to copy to the disk Macintosh HD failed.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" appears.  Could anyone suggest why please before it goes out the window!!!! Thanks.

Sorry, didn't explain properly, the message came up when trying to sync with an iPhone.
