Can't download purchased apps after Lion clean install

I zeroed my drive and did a clean install of Lion from a USB stick.
I then performed a Mobile me sync.
Now I'm trying to install apps from the app store and every single one of them is telling me it's already installed. I've even tried holding down Option and clicking on the Purchased tab to no avail. It just won't let me download anything.
Any suggestions?

I got it figured out. I still had my old drive in the Mac and the app store was recognizing the apps on *that* drive too. I just pulled the old drive and was able to download the apps.

  • Reloading apps after Lion clean install

I plan to do a clean install of Lion but I am not 100% how I would get all of my apps re-loaded. I have some install disks for some of the apps, so no problem, but I do not have the install disk for others. Can I do a Time Machine back-up of the apps in SL, then "re-install" from Time Machine in Lion? My guess is no, as some of the app installers may place things in various directories that I would not get by doing a Time Machine "re-install", I would like to confirm this.

I would backup either by TM or some other method. After installing Lion you can restore your Home folder and applications via the Setup Assistant.

  • Can't download purchased apps

I used to have Lion but my Mac was too slow, so I decided to reinstall Snow Leopard. Then I updatd the software so I could get the App Store.
Next step would be to go to "Purchases" and download all apps I had bought (apart from Lion and any app that asks for it as a system requirement).
But I can't download any app! Even the ones I'm absolutely sure I had before upgrading to Lion. Thus, the problem seems to be that I can only download the latest version of those apps, which in turn means I would need Lion again.
Is there any way of downloading the latest version of those apps that will still run on my OS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Afraid not.
Open the App Store then type in the name of one of the purchased apps in the search field top right corner of that window then select the app under Search results.
Under Infomation on the right you should see:  Requirements
    That is the minimum requirement.

  • Can I backup app files or .dmgs from HD to reinstall apps after a clean install?

late 2010 macbook pro. 4gb ram, 500gb HD. Currently running Mavericks.
I'm about to perform a clean install of OS Yosemite from a USB flash drive. I've not done this before, so I'm hoping it'll make things run nice and fast again. I have a time machine backup if anything goes wrong - backed up on a device in the mainland UK (I'm currently on a 2 week break with family in Ireland, so don't have access to it).
I have a lot of software on the mbp currently, some of which I'd like to reinstall straight afterwards. Logic Pro 9 and some other production applications. Again, all of my original install CD's are back in england - I don't have access to them currently. I can access serial numbers from screen grabbing my app load screens and emailing them to myself.
    TL;DR:
Is there any way I can copy various files or .dmg from the package contents (displaying hidden files using terminal) to be able to reinstall some applications straight after the clean install?
I'd really like to be able to make some music on a faster system while I'm off work!
Do point me in the direction of some further advice.
    Thanks,
    Jack

Connect an external HDD to your MBP that is formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (You may have to use Disk Utility>Erase to format the external HDD)
Open Disk Utility>Restore and the Internal HDD will be the Source and the external HDD will be the Destination:  See this example from my MBP:
Then click on the restore button.  Depending upon the amount of data, this may take several hours to complete.
(Note:  My internal HDD (gray) is called BARBAROSSA and my external HDD (Yellow) is called MAVERICKS.

Also; will the be any cross compatibility issues, given that I might be taking Mavericks-compatible Logic across to Yosemite?
There may be some applications that may not be compatible with Yosemite, but that will be very unlikely.  You find out if they appear with a STOP symbol when you transfer them.  If that happens, you will have to go to the developers web site and see if there is a newer version or drivers available that will make it compatible with Yosemite.

  • Can't download gmail app after iphone restore

I just had my iPhone 5s replaced and restored from backup.
    a) most of my apps were missing (meh, not a huge deal to purge)
    but more importantly,
    b) I can't download certain apps now.  For instance, I try to restore Gmail from the cloud and I keep getting a "This item isn't available", which I find pretty unlikely for the GMail app.
Is this something with my account?  Are others seeing this as well?
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

It appears that the iTunes and App Stores are having issues right now. Try again later or tomorrow.

  • I can't download purchased apps into my ipad (after recovery)

I have been trying upgrade my ipad to 7.1.1 for sevral weeks.  Several times it was taking hours and failed.
    Tried again today.
My ipad connected to my imac by cable.
Started the upgrade but was taking too long.
So I pulled the cord in the middle of a message "waiting for ipad".
Went into recovery mode in the ipad.
So I followed the recovery process but selected to not use my existing backups.
I did the upgrade without a backup or restore.
So now my ipad is back and deliciously empty.
Set up appleid again and all that.
So now my ipad is back and fresh and I want to download the apps I have paid for from the store.
Its asking me to pay again $9.99 for pages for ipad.
How can I get access again to the apps I have purchased?

    Hi amanda209,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post it appears that your iPhone may be having issues with connecting to the iTunes Store to download those Apps.  I'd like you to please follow the steps below to help resolve the issue.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Can't find purchased apps after upgrade to IPS 7.0

Grrr - that 7.0 upgrade did NOT go well - major hassle and confusion

Oh, dear - what shall be done?
    Anyone?
    Please?

Now, maybe I have a new AppleID
If you created a new Apple ID you will never see your previous purchases!
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs.

  • Help with iTunes database and Time Machine after Lion clean install

I did a clean install of OS X Lion and think I've given myself problems with my Snow Leopard Time Machine backup and with my iTunes Library database files.
My iMac (2007) had become very sluggish so I opted for a clean install.  Before the install of Lion my Snow Leopard 10.6.8 internal 1TB HD was at about  600GBs.  I was using Time Machine to backup to an external 1TB drive.  I had my iTunes 10.?  library on the same drive.
For the Lion install I partitioned my internal 1TB HD into two partitions - a 250GB Lion boot partition and the rest for Lion data files.
Now I  have two problems - 1.  I can't  work out how to re-connect my Time Machine backups, since they were related to a much bigger original drive, and 2.  I can't seem to find my iTunes database files.
I also don't want to restore any application files at this stage, as I'm determined to do a fresh install of only the applications I need as I go along, and hopefully  avoid the issues of sluggishness I had with Snow Leopard.
I have all my iTunes files in their pre-Lion external HD folder, but that folder does not seem to  have the iTunes Library.XML or iTunes Library files.  I didn't delete them so I'm hoping they were in my iTunes folder on my SL boot drive.  But that drive was deleted during the install, so I'll be depending on Time Machine to restore the database.
Can anyone suggest a way to deal with Time Machine for my Lion install, and a way to restore my iTunes database?  I'd like to keep as much of the Snow Leopard Time Machine data as I can, while continuing to do Time Machine backups from my Lion installation.
Anyone know where iTunes stores those database files, if not in the external drive iTunes folder? Spotlight search doesn't find the files, but is there a way to search my old Time Machine backups without having the Time Machine backups folder re-connected in Lion?
    Thanks.

My iTunes folder is organised like this if it helps:
And iTunes uses them from the Prefrences like this:

    Colin R.

  • I need help I can't download any app the button of install is not working disappear when i press download

When  I press download in any app free or have to pay automatical the button dissappear or move to the right then I press it again and is blue with no letters please help me i dont know what to do. That happen in my ipod touch 32 gb I have a lot space left on it. I also turn off the phone several times and it's the same. How can I fix it?

Since Apple updated the App store website a day or two ago users with a 1G iPod have been unable to download apps directly to their iPods. I have not seen a solution yet. you can still download on your computer and sync them to your iPod.

  • Backup Restore after Lion clean install sets invalid user

I was recylcling an iMac ready for a new staff member and at the same time upgrading it to 10.7 Lion.  So I erased the disk and did a clean install of Lion from the Apple USB drive and then did a partial restore from a Time Machine backup disk - partial because I did NOT RESTORE ALL USERS and happened to exclude the user that was previously set as the default login.
On completion of the restore the computer hangs with a blank screen but is running as it beeps if you type anything - had to force down and restart.
On restart it came up with the usual user list and I successfully loggged in as the admin user so I could create a new user.
Whilst setting the new user login options I noticed that the restore had set the login user to the user who was previously set as the default login but that user had NOT been restored an no longer existed so I assume it could not boot into that user after the restore and hence the hang.
The restore utlity needs to check before setting the l;ogin info not just blindly copy it.

File a bug report or enhancement request with Apple. Alternatively, turn off auto-login before restoring from TM.

  • How to recover classic Aqua Blue wallpaper after Lion clean install?

When I did a clean install of Lion I lost my lovely classic Aqua Blue (originally Tiger?) wallpaper.
An upgrade on a different Mac kept my original wallpaper.
How do I download and install that simple Aqua Blue one?
    Thanks.

Try this:  (1) On your Mac mount the disk in the Time Capsule (probably called "Data").  (2) In the "Data" volume locate and mount the "sparsebundle" image that contains the "old" backups.  (3) Click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, then choose from the pop-up menu the option to "Browse Other Time Machine Disks".  That should give you access to the old files.

    iTunes>iTunes Store>log in
    Click the Store menu>Authorize Computer
    enter password and click Authorize
