Can't download RAW plug in.

I have PSE 7 and now have a Canon G11 camera.  I just spoke to Adobe tech support and they said I need to upgrade to version 8 of PSE for the RAW format to work. Is that true?   The web site seems to say that I can download the plug-in but it does not seem to work.  I get the blue browen flower icon but no error message at all.
Thanks.

After downloading the zip file this is how to install it:
Close Photoshop Elements 7.
Extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the ZIP file you downloaded.
If you are using a 32-bit edition of Windows, then move Camera Raw.8bi into:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.
If you are prompted to overwrite the existing plug-in file, then click Yes or Overwrite.
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move Camera Raw.8bi into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.
If you are prompted to overwrite the existing plug-in file, then click Yes or Overwrite.

I have downloaded RAW plug-in 8.4 and it now appears on my download list, but PS11 tells me I have version 7.4. This probably is why I can't open the file. Any ideas?

Can't blame you for being confused between Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Elements, but you're asking in the wrong forum.
    Try here:  Photoshop Elements

  • I've up graded my Canon 5D Mk1 to a Mk3.  now I can't download RAW files as veiwable thumbnails

I've up graded my Canon 5D Mk1 to a Mk3.  now I can't download RAW files as veiwable thumbnails via CS4 Photodownloader only as 'tiles'.  I can still double click these tiles and open in PS elements and edit OK.  But they remain as tiles after editing although the resulting Jpeg can be seen as thumbnail in folder although needs purging first.  Please help.

Run Help> Updates to get v8.3 of the Camera RAW Plug-In.

  • Where can I download a plug-in so that I can open CR2 for Canon G15?

These help pages just send me in circles and try to sell me new products. Can someone please tell me where can I download a plug in so that Photoshop Elements 9 OR CS5 can open CR2 files for Canon G15? Thanks very much.

The G15 was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3 (ACR7.3). ACR is the plugin which handles Raw files.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
ACR 7.3  is only compatible with Elements 11 (or later) and CS6 (or later). Not Elements 9 or CS5 unfortunately.
    Some options:
    Upgrade to PSE 12
Download the free Adobe DNG Converter, convert all your G15 Raw files to DNGs then open the DNG files in Elements 9

You cannot download or install any plug ins in Safari on the iPad. You can only turn on JavaScript in the Safari settings - which is different than you want to do.

Looking at this article, it doesn't look like that camera model is supported by iPhoto. You may want to get in touch with Sony and see if they have any software that will allow you to import/view it.

  • How do i download raw plug ins?

Hi...How can I open my raw files?  I just purchased a new camera and it is not reading my files.  It is a sonya77 and I am freaking out that I can't open them.  I have tried to download the plug-ins but it is not working.  I have CS5.  Thank you.

What version of Camera Raw are you actually running?  You can choose Help - About Plug-in... in Photoshop to find that out.
If you have Camera Raw 6.5 or later in the 6.x series (which is what's needed, per the link Mylenium was kind enough to provide above), then we should start to talk about how it is that you've gotten the images on the computer, and how you are trying to open them.  Can you please be more specific about exactly what you're trying to do, and what messages you are receiving?  Screen grabs are often good, and you can post them here via the little camera icon.

  • Can't Download RAW images

After I got back from Africa, I downloaded all my RAW files into my Toshiba Satellite laptop and got them cropped and organized. Then I spilled about half a pint of apple juice on the keyboard which killed the hard drive. Had it replaced by the Geek Squad. Toshiba does not supply recovery disks with new laptops so I had to order them from their USA affiliate.
Geek Squad used the disks and now, as you can see, my laptop is once again functional. Or almost.  The recovered machine will not accept RAW files. It directed me to two sites: 1) a commercial site where a patch was sold for $29.95.  2) the Canon site where the software was free. Tried the free Canon software which did not help.  Then I downloaded the disk that came with the camera.  All to no avail.
Other than suicide, you got any suggestions? guidance? enlightenment?
     many thanks, cyber-ignorant Bill

Not sure what you mean about downloading RAW files.  I have been doing Digital Photgraphy for about 12 years and use RAW files from many differnt Camera brands.  The RAW data from the diffent brands is all a bit different.  I use about 6 different graphics programs.  Not all of these programs read all RAW file formats.  You most likely have a file association issue.  If you have any graphic files on your computer (Tiff, JPEG, GIF, PNG, etc) and install a new graphics editor program, file accociations will generally default to open in the new program.  In most cases this is not a problem.  It can be a problem opening "Brand Specific" RAW files in the new program.
The best way to fix this is to navigate to the location where you store your RAW files (from the same camera) on your system and double click one of the files and see what program opens the file for viewing.  If this works for you, then navigate to the camera media card (plug in the camera or plug the card into a card reader slot on your computer, printer, card reader) and do not allow the transfer of the files. Right click one of the files on the card, click properties, change the file association to the program that opened the files on your computer.
Another way to do this is to open "My Computer" or "Computer" on Win 7  systems,  find your camera folder (it will generally look like a hard drive.  Open and navigate to the folder where the files are stored.  Drag and Drop to your Desktop.  Open the folder on your desktop, right click a file and change your file associations as stated above.

  • Can't Install RAW plug-in

Here's the story: I have been using CS4 with the RAW plug-in for a couple of years now, and a few days ago, my computer crashed to the point that I had to migrate my files to an external drive, wipe out the internal drive and then migrate everything back to my internal drive. Somehow in that process, CS4 lost the RAW plug-in, (Now Photoshop says it doesn't recognize the RAW format) so I downloaded not only the latest RAW plug-in update (6.4.1?) but also several other earlier versions. But now when I try to install them, Adobe Applications Manager says the "Update is not Applicable". Any ideas?

    6.4.1 isn't compatible with CS4.
    You want Camera Raw 5.7.

  • Can't download RAW images and see them

I'm using Bridge 3.  When I download RAW images, all I get is the same amount of thumbnails that say CR2 (on a blue banner) on a page with a gray lens.  What's happening?

They're all blue with a flower motif.  Does this
information help narrow down the possibilities any?
It still indicates you have not the right ACR plug in for the file type of
Raw you are using or your install of ACR plug in is fault.
In PS check in menu Photoshop / about plug ins / Camera Raw. Inhere should
be only one version visible and it should say 4.6 in your case if you have
    installed that plug in correctly.
If this is correct check if your camera that produced the Raw files is
listed in the supported dSLR for that version. Check this link and if it
does not work for you (many links are country specific on the Adobe site) do
a Google search on:  " supported raw files for ACR 4.6"
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4033
If that camera is not in the list find the latest DNG converter (version
6.1, it is in the list on the Adobe site / support / updates and search for
    DNG)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Maci
    ntosh
Use this converter to convert your files to DNG and try again.

  • Can't  download RAW photos to LR 3

I just purchased LR 3 and I've tried to download RAW pictures from my D80 for processing, but for some some reason the down load does'nt work.
Is DNG the same as RAW? Do I have to convert fron RAW to DNG? Help!!

The D80 RAW format has been supported by LR for several years, already, so you should not have to convert to DNG.
Without more details it is a little hard to say, but perhaps you’re having an issue with LR copying photos from the camera as part of the import process.  This could be several things including USB-driers on your computer or USB-settings on your camera or even the camera firmware version.  If your camera has more than one setting for connecting to a computer, try all the variations.  Settings might be things like Mass Storage mode that makes the camera visible to the computer as a hard-drive or card-reader vs PTP mode which allows the camera to be controlled by the computer for taking pictures.  You would want the hard-drive mode so LR can see it as a card-reader.
There could be issues with the cable you’re using, where having LR import from a card-reader is another possibility.  Finally, you might have to just copy all the photos from the camera, either via USB cable, or using a card-reader, to your computer’s hard-drive and import from that folder.

  • Can't download RAW photos from EOS30d

I have just started using a Canon EOS 30d, but am unable to download the RAW photos (.cr2) that I have taken. I have tried downloading direct from the camera, and also using a cardreader but no joy. Had no problems downloading RAW from a EOS 300d, but they were .crw files. I'm puzzled!!
Thanks in advance for your help.

    jayne410:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What system version are you using. Tiger does support the EOS 30D as shown here.
You might have to convert them to dng files and use that format. You can get it here: Adobe DNG Converter for Macintosh. It might work on the new cr2 files.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
