Can't download Security Update 2015-002 1.0

I can't download Security Update 2015-002 1.0 from the App store. It starts to download and then saddlery stops and I'm back to where I started. I've tried restarting the system with no other apps running etc, but still no joy.

Allan,
I have Avast virus checker installed, but I disabled file, mail & web browser checking and had the same problem.
I eventually was able to download the manual update DMG and that seems to have installed ok.
Now the Update RAW 6.03 has been installed, but continues to say it needs installing - galling.
Thanks to you and Linc for replying to my original post.

  • Security Update 2015-002 Apple ID login no longer recognised

Just downloaded Security Update 2015-002 and Apple ID has become fried
Cannot login to App Store to download remaining app updates, having problems accessing Apple ID: have had to change password (unwillingly) and Manage Apple ID reporting 'Unknown Error' when I try to login, App Store showing 'Status_Code_Error'

Hi, I already posted this to another discussion and I just want to brought this up here. I noticed that when using safari to search for the error message, I was automatically logged as someone else who I never know. I'm sure that no one else is using my laptop and login in apple site. Here's the screenshot. I intensionally removed the email to protect the account.

  • After installing the Security Update 2015-002 many system app icons have switched. How can I fix this?

I Installed the Security Update 2015-002 on March 13 on my 13-inch Macbook Pro (mid 2010) running Yosemite. However after it rebooted many of the system app icons have switched places. For instance: The delete button in finder has the icon for Full Screen (while others are just plain white). And the button for New Message in Mail now shows a search icon. Please see screengrab below.
IS there a way to fix this mess without having to manually change all this?

I have some new info on the issueI thought I'd share with you.
First of all, I've installed Photoshop CC on my SurfacePro (Windows 8) and do not have the lag issue there. It's very similar hardware to my MacBook Pro. So the issue must have something to do with my MacBook.
After a lot of tinkering I discovered that it is my 27" Thunderbolt Display that is causing the brush lag. When I unplug it and only use my built in 13" screen the brush lag is gone. Aha!
I tried every available option in the Performance section but nothing helped. Again, Photoshop CS5 with attached Thunderbolt Display doesn't have a brush lag issue.
I'd be interested to know everyone else's setup who is experiencing this problem.

  • Security update 2015-002

    Hi there
I recently installed the lastest update entitled Security update 2015-002.
So all seemed fine till I opened Mac Mail and it asks me for my password as there is no icloud mail account set up. It may be a bit stupid of me but I keep my password hidden in an email so firstly had to find my ipad to retrieve my password. Put that in and it all set up fine - or so it seemed.
My other accounts (also on mac mail) seemed ok - I have a pop and gmail account set up with their own additional mailbox folders.
However when i go to Mail preferences accounts there are no accounts in there except for my icloud account. I then sent a test email to the pop account and nothing comes through. I still have all the old emails in those accounts but cannot receive.
Also in the drop down box (From) when composing it only lists my icloud email and not my pop or gmail email (which it was doing an hour ago).
Is this supposed to happen and if not how do I get my accounts back. (I can't even remember the details of setting them up)
    Any help appreciated

Add the accounts back. If you fill in the e-mail address and password, Mail will normally automatically configure the account.

  • Printing problems after installing Security Update 2015-002

After installing Security Update 2015-002 on three separate computers on two different WiFi networks, printers on the network are losing their connections to the computers that can print to them. We have experienced this on a network running a Canon printer and an HP printer - both have disappeared on the network although the printer suggests it is still connected to the network. The same thing has happened on a separate network I manage with a single HP printer on that network. I have tried removing the printers, resetting the printers etc. Nothing is working. I can get one print out of a printer when I turn the printer off and then on. Three minutes later the printer is no longer connected to the computer - although still connected to the network. Please Help.

I think I have figured out that it is in fact the Apple Extreme Base Station that is losing the printer. It is very odd because the printer is connected to the Wifi. My computer is connected to the WiFi and connecting to the internet. The Router for the internet can see the printer. An Apple Extreme is then connected via a network cable in Bridge mode to the router. When I turned the power off the The Apple Extreme and then restored power it all worked. was still working this morning, but again this afternoon I needed to reboot Apple Extreme. It is quite strange that this is happening on two different Networks in different parts of the country at the same time. Maybe the Security Update is somehow affecting/blocking communication with the printer? I just don't know enough. These networks have been up and running with the same printers and computers for years with zero problems - all of a sudden we have the same problem on both Networks.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

  • Security Update 2015-002 Bluetooth woes

After installing Security Update 2015-002 I can no longer listen to my bluetooth headphones for music from iTunes as they stutter continuously.  This was not an issue prior to the update.  iTunes, however, plays fine through regular speakers and headphones, so I think the issue is with the bluetooth.
It doesn't matter where the macbookpro is used, distance from the mac to the headphones, position of the headphones, applications running, nothing changes that it stutters horribly.
This isn't limited to itunes, either, youtube or other websites also stutter, but, again only through bluetooth.
Thoughts or suggestions how I can mitigate this?

Same thing here but with my trackpad it is erratic and always search to connect. It is definitely a Bluetooth issue. My guess is that they change or boost the frequency. I had to stop using it because I felt a pinch in my hart, angina. People with a hart condition should be aware of that risk. I just talked to Apple to let them know about erratic bluetooth and angina...

  • Cannot get mail via IMAP after security update 2015-002

Since installing security update 2015-002 I cannot now receive emails via IMAP on my MacBook air running Yosemite. I am told that the username or password is incorrect, but I have not changed these. The mail server is working fine and I can receive via my iPAD. I can also send from my MacBook - just receiving that fails.
Has anyone else had a problem?

  • My iMac doesn't recognize by usb keyboard since I installed security update 2015-002

I installed Security Update 2015-002 on my iMac and since then it doesn't recognize my usb keyboard (I'm typing this with a bluetooth keyboard). I rebooted, unplugged and plugged back in the keyboard all to no avail.
    My system:
    Yosemite 10.10.2
    Mid 2011 iMac 27"
    3.4 GHz i7
    16 GB RAM
    Keyboard: Apple extended USB
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Mine works okay.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

Just had the exact same thing happen on mine. Installed the update from App Store it restarted and then all this information shot up on the apple loading screen and then it just gets stuck in a loop. Only thing that would let me use my MacBook was to restore from time capsule.

  • Security Update 2015-002 1.0 update problems

Hi all,  Just installed Security Update 2015-002 1.0.  It damaged several of my configuration files.  On top of that, System Preferences will not launch so I can effect a recovery.  Tried launching System Preferences from the Apple menu, from the spotlight utility and from the applications menu.  The applications menus now show two System Preference icons, the main icon and an icon with the alias indicator.  Went to recovery and launched the disk utility.  Says everything is ok.  Deleted the System Preferences configuration file...still no help.  Tried launching the System Preferences from inside one of the apps, locks everything up.  Right now I am into a 7 hour TimeMachine re-install.  The only thing I could think of outside of hosing everything an reinstalling OS-X.  Hoping that will get my major graphics workstation back on line.  Holding back on updating all of my other Apple Products until this is resolved.

  • Security Update 2015-002 breaks Messages activation

Applied Security Update 2015-002 yesterday evening. Rebooted and everything seemed to work okay. Shut down for the night. Next day and now Messages won't activate.
I've tried everything, even turning on two-step verification and generating an app-specific password for "Messages and FaceTime" -- FaceTime take the password and works perfectly, while Messages gives some variation of these errors constantly:
It's only hosed on one of my Macs, the others will allow login to Messages.
Messages worked perfectly before the Security Update, now activation appears to be permanently broken.
Is this actually an iCloud problem or is something wrong with my Yosemite configuration?
    Help! Any suggestions?

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait for it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.

  • Keyboard, keypad glitch after Security Update 2015-002

The overview is: keyboard problems developed shortly after Security Update-002 on Mavericks 10.9.5. I tried OS update to Yosemite; didn’t fix the problem. Reverted OS back to 10.9.5 using Time Machine for a backup date prior to the Sec Update; this fixed the problem.
Mac mini5,2, 16gbram, wired Apple Pro Keyboard (M7803, circa Mac Cube), Apple Wireless Keyboard, LMP Wireless Numeric Keypad, Apple Magic Mouse (A1296?) iPad 2
Within the past 2 days, Apple BT keyboard alpha keys stopped typing. During troubleshooting, I discovered that problems extended to BT keyboard, BT keypad, and wired spare USB extended keyboard. The BT keyboard pairs and works fine with my iPad. Here’s a list of the glitches:
    Apple Wireless keyboard:
      alpha keys NO INPUT
      space key NO INPUT
      Delete key works
      Force-Quit sequence works
fn, cntrl, opt, Apple, arrow keys, shift all work
      top row keys work
    LMP Bluetooth keypad:
      keypad: 1..4, 6..9 NO INPUT
keypad "5" registers a mouse click, NO INPUT
keypad "0" jumps to mouse cursor first press only, NO INPUT
      =/*-+ and arrows work
    Apple Pro USB extended keyboard:
num keys: 1..4, 6..9 NO INPUT
keypad "5" registers a mouse click, NO INPUT
keypad "0" jumps to mouse cursor first press only, NO INPUT
alpha keys and number row keys work
      keypad =/*-+ and arrows work
Besides proving the wireless keyboard works on my iPad, I reset PRAM with no improvement. (I had no problems with my Bluetooth Magic Mouse.)
Next step was OS upgrade via Software Update to Yosemite. All above glitches remained.
Next, I reverted to Mavericks 10.9.5 using a Time Machine OS backup dated prior to 9Mar15, the date of Security Update 2015-002. After this, both keyboards and keypad resumed working. Seems clear that the Security Update is the culprit, no?
I reported the issue to Apple via Support Chat.
I would like to eventually upgrade back to the Security Update and Yosemite but not when it breaks my keyboard. Perhaps I could skip over the Sec. Update and go to Yosemite? Any suggestions?

    Update:
The day after I reverted to 10.9 to repair keyboard glitches caused by Security Update 2015-002 (and persistent in Yosemite), Apple released Security Update 2015-004. Such a quick succession of -004 on top of both -002 and -003 was the hint to me that -004 contained fixes to the glitches.
I crossed my fingers and jumped back on the install-wagon. Yosemite 10.3 completed its second installation and my keyboards/keypads remain functional!
