Can't drag and drop from page view

Can't drag and drop from page view to desktop even though plus icon shows up for duplicating the page.  On Mac 10.9.2 Acrobat XI. I don't want to extract through the menu and associated dialogues.  Its slow and cumbersome.

Hi Peterbruce,
Acrobat for Windows will let you select pages in the Pages panel and drag them to your desktop, but that isn't an option in Acrobat for Mac OS. You can drag thumbnails from the Pages panel in one doc, to the Pages panel in another, however.
Best,
Sara

  • Can't Drag and Drop from pages bar in Acrobat XI Pro for Mac?

    MAC OSX 10.7.5
    Acrobat XI Pro
In adobe Acrobat XI for Mac, how do I drag pages from the Pages Thumbnail sidebar into finder and make a new PDF?
In windows I can simply select the pages, drag and drop them into Explorer and it creates a completely new PDF with the pages I dragged.  I've tried everything on my Mac and I can't get it to extract this way.
It's extremely slow and frustrating having to manually right click extract, select the pages, open it in a new adobe window, then have to save the file through the menu.
On windows I just select the page, drag to the folder, click , and rename.

I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

I can't drag and drop from photos 1.0 to desktop

What happens if you double click on the thumbnail to view the photo in a larger size?  If you Control-click on the thumbnail and select "Show File" or "Show Original" (if it's been edited) are you taken to the folder where the original file is located an it highlighted?

  • Why can I drag and drop from Photos to Pages, but not to Microsoft Word 2011

I'm unable, under OS X 10.10.3, to drag and drop pictures from Photo into Word for Mac 2011.  I can paste from Photos into Pages.  How can I add Word to the list of programs that can take pasted photos pasted from Photos

Drag and Drop support is done programmatically as part of the application design. There is no user settable configuration, or list of programs that you can add Word too. Apple has supported drag and drop in Pages for a long time, and from iPhoto or Aperture picture libraries. Microsoft chose another path.
I don't have Office for Mac 2011, but I can state that Word 15.8.1 in Office for Mac 2015 Preview does not accept drag/drop of images from Photos either. It compensates by offering Insert ▸ Pictures ▸ Photo Browser… and when selected, displays an image panel not unlike Pages offers when clicking images from its Toolbar. At the top of this Word Preview panel is the Photos logo. It is from this Photos browser panel, that Word Preview accepts drag/drop of images. It may be that way in Word in Office for Mac 2011 too.

  • I can't drag and drop from a data CD I recorded

I recently burned some audiobooks files (in mp3 format) as data cd's in Toast 8.0.1. When I go to reload them back onto my 20" 2 Ghz Dual Core Intel I can't drag and drop the files directly into any folder while using the columns view in a finder window. I can do it if I drag onto the music folder and let it spring open down to the level of the folder. I also can drag the mp3's into iTunes and then into the folder. This is not CD related since I used several diff brands.
I constantly update, backup, repair permissions, and do other maintenance so everything is up to date. I have noticed this behavior just since I started to use the program called Audiobook Builder. I am (and have always used) a non-admin user account. When this started a few months ago it seemed to go away with a restart, permission repair, or a logout but now it seems permanant. I checked user permissions on my home folder - I have not added any software since adding Audiobook Builder. Any idea's? I read something about trashing a com.apple pref but didn't try that.
I suspect Audiobook Builder since it changes the permissions and filetype to the iTunes Audiobook filetype but have not seen anyone reference this.

While the programming of course could be done, the idea of a function that performs on original unprocessed images seems to violate the whole idea of what Lightroom was designed to be. At least that's my opinion. Of course, the idea that Adobe should do this programming for a relatively small number of people (you're one of a very few people to ask for this, that I have read) seems to be something that isn't going to happen.
I agree, I can't see much reason for drag-and-drop to drag the unprocessed image - in other words, an image that isn't the one that you see when you drag and drop.  I can see that just filling this forum with "why the heck does it do that????????" posts.  I could be wrong, but I suspect that Adobe won't do that.
But if you do want to drag-and-drop the original unprocessed image, you can do it very easily now.  Right click the image, choose "show in Explorer", and then drag-and-drop from Explorer.

  • I can't drag and drop from windows explorer into my ipod on itunes. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I manage my music/podcast library on my Vista PC using windows explorer because I don't like how iTunes does it. Then today I can no longer drag and drop from explorer onto my iPod in iTunes all I get is a circle with a line through it meaning "iTunes says no." Any suggestions?
    Ta.

You will need to Sync your iPad and all Music/Albums Selected will transfer over from iTunes..

  • Can't drag-and-drop from CD to Desktop

I can't drag-and-drop a photo from an Iphoto CD to the Desktop. I was able to do this on my old 17"IMAC. But the new 20" won't allow me to this anymore. Once I drag it past the Iphoto window the cursor has a circle with a bar across. The MAC person at CompUSA couldn't help. Can you? His suggestion was to drag it to the Iphoto library and then drag it out of the library to the Desktop. Huh?

In Iphoto, I select the albums I want to copy. I then hit burn CD. It then determines the amount of space needed. Then I hit burn CD again. Its begins burning the CD, then it verifies the CD, then ejects the CD when completed.
When the CD is re-inserted, Iphoto displays it as a regular album. I select the album, then a file, and attempt to drag-and-drop that file to the desktop. The cursor appears as a circle with a bar and it won't allow a one-step drag-and drop as with the old 17" IMAC.

  • Can't drag and drop from Address Book to Mail?

    Hi,
I have always used Address Book to store my email contact information in SL. When I wanted to send an email, I would drag and drop from Address Book to the "To:" field in Mail and it would add the contact information to Mail. I upgraded to Lion, and now when I try this, the address icon moves like it should, the little green circle with the + in it appears when I hover over the field, but when I release it does not add the address to Mail. The drag and drop does not work at all, but it looks like it should. I have searched all around but have not found any information about this. Does anyone know what's up with this? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Are you dragging from the actual AddressBook application, or the Address icon you can add to the NewMail and Reply toolbars in Mail?  (It ought to be there by default, but isn't).
Either should work, but if AB doesn't, try the icon method:

  • Can't Drag and Drop from Bridge/Folders anymore. Trashing Preferences didn't work

My Indesign CS4 is acting up.
I can no longer drag and drop from Bridge into my layouts, nor does it work from my PC folders to the layout.
I tried accessing the two  preferences folder on my Vista as suggested here: http://indesignsecrets.com/rebuilding-indesign-preferences.php
That didn't work and I don't think the rebuilt worked because the files didn't recreate itself, I had to bring the copies back in.
Any idea what's going on and what to do?
    Thanks!!!
    Amy

There are actually two files in the ID prefs set that usually need to be removed together when things act up. See Replace Your Preferences

  • Drag and drop from pages tab

I am trying to drag a page from acrobat reader into a C# application.  The only information i need from acrobat is the filename and the page number or numbers.  Is this information accessible? Do i need to cast the dataObject i am being sent to a different type? Has anyone had success with drag and drop from inside accrobat to another application?
Any help at all would be very appreciated.

Reader does NOT support dragging from the pages panel.
Adobe Acrobat, however, does.  But the only supported destinations for dragging from the pages tab are another Acrobat window or the Finder/Explorer.  Any other destination is untested and unsupported.

  • More friendly drag-and-drop from grid view to folder

From within the grid view, I do a multiple selection and drag the pictures to a folder on the left, to move all the pictures to that folder. If in the folder there is already a file with the same name as one of the selected pictures, the whole operation is cancelled. It is extremely annoying. LR might instead pop up a dialog asking if I still want to move the pictures that can be moved. Even better, the dialog should give options to overwrite the file in the destination folder, or to automatically re-name either file and stack them.

On the page itself (icloud.com/iwork) it states "To get started, launch [Pages, Numbers, Keynote] on your iOS device and turn on iCloud."  This would lead me to believe you need to have the iOS version before you can even try using the icloud.com/iwork to upload files.
I personally am not paying $10 just to test this, but if anyone else has tested this, it would be great to either confirm or deny this beyond just what I'm reading from it.
Well, I have paid those 30 $ ( well 24 Euros ) for keynote, numbers and pages and yes you absolutely need at least one of these apps on your Device in order to unlock the "drag and drop" solution in the Browser. In other words - if you do not own a iDevice or not have one of that apps, you can't use icloud.com/iwork and its upload features at all.
After all it is only for iOS iwork; Mac iwork09 does not sync to the cloud at all, regardless of "documents and data" set to yes in icloud on OSX.  On the contrary if you enable the same feature on your iOS5 device and set the iwork apps to store their documents in icloud, the syncing does start. So it kinda makes sense to force the presence of the iOS apps.
iwork on iOS is pretty good, all 3 apps are high quality, come with those typical awesome templates and have tons of options to print, share and sync; but beware of the cloud storage thing : randomly documents in iCloud just delete themself.Go figure in the support forum for iwork for ios here - 100s users have experienced lost data using iwork for iOS in the cloud; So I turned this whole thing off again and sync my documents old fashioned via iTunes.

  • Can't drag and drop from browser to mail, photoshop CC, etc.

I can no longer drag an image from my browser (Chrome or Safari) directly into Photoshop CC, Mail and other programs like I could in the past.
