Can't drag&drop music from explorer into iTunes

Hey everyone, I recently got a new computer and copied over my iTunes library from my old computer and installed a fresh copy of the latest iTunes onto my new computer. The problem is I can't drag and drop files from an Explorer window into iTunes like I used to. I can still copy and paste files in or add them manually from the file browser but that is less than ideal. When I attempt to drag any files in I just see the crossed out circle image. Keep in mind I am not adding them to a playlist, just straight into my library (but adding to a playlist doesn't work either) and there is nothing wrong with the files (the error occurs on any audio file I try to drag). I'm assuming this is some sort of permissions issue, I re-installed iTunes a few time and deleted my iTunes folder but no luck. Maybe it is a registry error? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to drag and drop again.

I really do suggest that you re-visit Bridge especially the CS4 version.
I just cannot conceive of trying to use a Digital camera, a Scanner or the Creative Suite programs without using Bridge and ACR.
I can even use it to read PDFs and inDesign documents (all pages!) without opening Acrobat or InD..

It is now far more effective and efficient to do that in Bridge than in the Finder.
This is where you would find the new Collections feature to be invaluable:
Just select all the images and other files connected to a project from any folder and drag their icons into the same Collection.
You then have all aliases (previewable at full-screen slide-view size with one click of the space bar in CS4) to ALL of your files which are now visible in. and openable from, a single panel.

Is there a way you can simply drop singles from downloads into itunes without disrupting layout, so you can say put some recently downloaded singles off the net into your own various folder without messing up the whole neatness of all the other album covers by adding fifty plus single covers...
ie. I just dropped a Naughty boy La la la single into my perfect looking iTune library and it does this...
Adds it as an album cover with no pic, and even if I add a pic, it isn't an album anyways!
I realise I can probably create and rename every single downloaded single to exactly the same info etc, but this is sooooooooo long winded!
Please help! everything else works perfect apart from this!

Can't drag & drop photos from iPhoto to Finder.

(I'm using iPhoto 9.4.2, mac OS 10.8.3)
I can drag & drop photos from iPhoto to the Finder once. It successfully copies however many photos I had selected to the folder I wanted them copied to. But then if I try to drag and drop any more photos, it won't let me - the cursor has a red bubble for qty. of photos and a gray NO symbol (circle with a line through it) where the Copy symbol should be (green bubble with plus sign in it).
Don't want to do the "Export" feature - I want to drag & drop.
Tried restarting iPhoto. Tried restarting my computer. Software is all up to date.
Any ideas?

Sorry - but that is not currently an option - drag and drop (which is not a good way under any conditions since you have no control and simply get the preview of the photo) is either broken or has been removed - in any case no matter what you want it is not an option
The only current option (maybe the only long term option - no one here knows) is to export - this is equally as easy and gives you total control of the quality of the exported photos, the metadata included and is much easier to place photos within a finder folder structure

I want to insert in a video clip in iMovies a brief textual from Pages. How do I do it?

You can copy and paste text from Pages into a Title in iMovie.
As an aside, you can create slides in Keynote with a green background and use the in iMovie with the green screen effect. I have some examples if you are interested.

How to get music from iphone into itunes library, that was not purchased via itunes??

Hard drive crashed, I restored my itunes music from a backup, but the backup was not updated, I'm missing music that I have on my iphone playlist, this music I got from a friend, I didn't buy it from itunes. Question: How can I get this musica from the iphone into my itunes library???

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases.
You may be able to purchase a third party program ( not supported by Apple).

Can't drag & drop images from Windows Explorer into Elements 7

Hi...
I'm a Photoshop Elements 7 newbie... I can't drag and drop images (jpeg, tiff, Olympus RAW) from Windows Explorer (file explorer and not IE) to Photoshop Elements like I can in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2? It also works in Corel Painter IX.5 & ArtRage 3 (except for RAW)... My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.... I've uninstalled and re-installed Elements but to no avail. I've also tried to run Elements under various compatability modes but still no luck....
Any ideas?
It's driving me nuts...

To see if you're running the program as administrator right click the desktop icon or Start Menu item you use to launch PS and select Properties. On the Compatibility tab, is Run This Program As Administrator checked? (Note that in Vista and Windows 7, running a program as administrator is different than running it in an account that's a member of the Administrator's group.)"
I wasn't running the program as administrator so I enabled that compatibility property applied it then disabled it. It seems to work now. I thought I'd add this to flesh out the previous answer. I didn't open the program in between the enable and disable, so it is a quick process. Also, I am using windows 8.1 and had to open the file location in order to do this. Right click on the tile then choose 'open file location'

I I spent about 1.5 hours on the phone with an apple tech and really feel like we've tried everything! Switching from manually managing music to auto synch and back, reinstalled ITunes, etc and I still can't drag and drop music files on to my Ipod. I am able create a new playlist, but music files can't be dragged into there either... Could it be a conflict between Itunes 10.5.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8 that I'm unaware about? Any ideas?! I'm stuck!

Cannot drag/drop music from iTunes onto iPhone (synced with a different computer)

I have a library of music already on my iPhone that was synced with another computer. I am working on a different computer and bought some music that I thought I could just drag and drop into my iphone from iTunes. I have read that you need to check manually manage music but when I do that it says it will erase everything on my phone. I don't want to do that because I have music on my phone that isn't in the library I'm using. Is there anything else I can do?

you iphone does not work like a regular ipod, where you can drag and drop music, you must sync it with itunes. plug it into your computer, click on the icon that is labeled iphone. when you do this there is a section on the top that says music. click on that, then you can select playlists and artists, etc. then click apply. it should work then

How can I drag multiple photos from iPhoto into a Word Document

I'm creating a collage of photos for a friend and in order to get the photos to the right size and print them without trouble I need to drag all of the photos from a certain album in iPhoto into an empty word document. Is there a way to do this? If not, why not?

It's best to drag one photo at a time from the open iPhoto window into the open Word document window. Resize the photo. Then drag the next one and resize.
If you have iWork a better solution is to use Pages. That way you can resize the drag the photos into any location on page, even overlapping other photos, whereas in Word it has to be on a separate line or small enought to fit two on a line. You can access the iPhoto Library from the Media Browser in Pages without iPhoto having to be open.

Webdynpro ABAP layouteditor:Can't drag&drop UIelements from toolbar to view

i have a problem with the Webdynpro for ABAP layout editor in SE80. When i'm editing a view, i see the UI elemnts toolbar, but i cannot "drag&drop" any elemet of the toolbar to the view, it'S only possible to add elements using right click on rootuielementcontainer.
Does anybody has an idea what could be wrong?
I have SAP Netweaver Release 702 SP 8 and using SAP GUI 710 (Level 22).

Can I transfer music from ipod into itunes?

I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but thought I'd give it a try and throw the question out there! Stupidly I let my system be rebooted with the original operating system discs without backing up my itunes!! Is there any chance of transferring my music back using my ipod?? Thanks in advance

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'Command + Option' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
Try iPodDisk.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.

I'm trying to get my whole library moved from an old computer onto the new computer. If i copy everything into the external drive, can I just copy it from the external into the itunes folders on the new computer? If so..which files should i be copying and where do I put them?

Can no longer drop a MIDI file into iTunes library

Using Tiger on a G4 iMac, I could drop a MIDI file into my iTunes library and convert it to an mp3 (or other format).
Can't get this to happen now that I'm using Leopard on a new machine (see below) - or is there a different way of doing it in Leopard?

Answering my own question - had iTunes set to Show Duplicates - therefore couldn't see MIDI I dropped in.
