Can't drag from purchased to iPhone 3G

I recently bought the season of Watchmen, and it automatically downloaded on my Mac. When I connected my iPhone 3G and tried to drag the episode to my 3G, nothing happens. In fact, all songs and videos are greyed out on the 3G and my purchased folder. It works fine on my windows Vista machine. What's going on here? I ended up copying it to a flash drive, then dragging it to the 3G in iTunes on my windows machine.

Upon further investigation, all music, videos, etc. on my mac and macbook are greyed out, and I can't play anything on the iPhone 3G. The iPhone does not show up as a drive on the desktop either. My iPod classic and nano work fine on the macs. If I click on manually manage music in iTunes, it wants to sync with the mac, and erase all my stuff on the iPhone. Can anyone help me?

I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint at home but only a WIFI printer, my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ? Please help me if anyone knows about this.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.

  • Is there a way to hide apps from the app store? I don't want my kids to see those "free" apps that nag you to spend real money and download their other apps! I can hide them from "purchased apps", but they still show up when browsing for new apps!

Is there a way to hide them so that my kids will never see them when looking for new apps?

Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps.

  • How can I print from iCal on iPhone and iPad?

HHow can I print from iCal on iPhone and iPad?

    Hi EScott,
This is an easy fix. You indicate that you get these emails just fine on your desktop, so they are not getting lost. They are just not making it to your iPhone or iPad. This tells me that you need to change the preferences of the accounts on your desktop machine. Each account will have a setting for what to do with mail on the server after you have checked it. The choices are to leave on the server,  or to delete it.
If you have it set to delete, it won't be there when you later go check your mail from your mobile device. Most of the people I see post here with email issues have the opposite problem from you. They check their email from the phone during the day, then can't get it on the desktop later. It sounds like your iPhone and iPad are already set to leave on server.
All you have to do is go into your mail client on the desktop and in the individual preferences for each account change this setting. You may also want to check how you have deleted mail set up. It also can be set to be removed immediately, at a later time (like a week, month), or never. If you have it set to delete it won't be in your trash folder.
    Good luck.

Correct.  When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box.  This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands.  It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.
10.6 software is not downloadable.  You must purchase a DVD disc.  You can order it from the on-line apple store

  • Playlist dragging from computer to iPhone and ipad2

How do I ad playlists when My iTunes page has changed and I can't find either iPad or iPhone to drag new playlist from recent purchases on iPad ?

  • Can't add to "Purchased on iPhone" playlist

I tried searching for topics relating specifically to the iPhone purchases playlist but couldn't find anything. Here's the issue. For reasons unimportant to my question, my iTunes Library was wiped out. I've added all the songs and really all I've lost are some ratings and metadata. My Purchased playlist is back to how it was. The Purchased playlist on the iPhone contains all the songs that I've bought. However, since my Library was cleaned out, the synced version of the playlist on my computer is empty. I've since bought one song on my iPhone and hoped that it would copy everything over again, but no. Only that one song appears. For whatever reason, iTunes allows adding to the Purchased playlist but not to the "Purchased on iPhone" playlist. So, what can I do? I don't want to lose the playlist and for that reason I haven't risked turning on automatic syncing (it's been on manual since I got the phone). Thanks.

Nevermind. I was trying to drag songs from the iPhone to the "Purchased on iPhone" playlist. Dragging from the Library and manually recreating it worked.

  • Can't drag songs onto my iPhone

Hey everyone - not sure if I'm the only one who's having this problem, but I have the latest iTunes (10.5.3) and my iPhone 4S is up to date (running 5.0.1).
I just purchased an album on iTunes, but cannot drag the purchased tracks onto my phone, even though it's showing in the sidebar. I had to go into iTunes on my phone and download them there. Is there some setting I need to check to allow drag n drop as well as iCloud stuff?
    Thanks!

So glad to find this discussion - this was baffling me, too! I didn't realize that because I had purchased a new laptop, my iPhone didn't recognize the library on the new computer, even though I was using the same Apple iTunes account. I checked the manual management box as suggested, and my iPhone library now has to be rebuilt, which will take awhile, but I can deal with that. It's working. Thanks!

  • Can't drag music/books onto iphone 4S

Hi, just purchased an iphone 4S for my wife and trying to sync music and a couple of ebooks. I am not able to sync individual songs as gives the no entry symbol when trying to drag over iphone and music. If I press autofill on the bottom it transfers the entire music library just can't do individual songs. Also can't sync any books. I am running itunes 10.6. Can do any of this on my iphone 4 on my own itunes account but not on wife's new account. Any ideas

Sync and drage and drop are two entirely different things.
If you want to drage and drop, then you willhave to check teh Manually manage music box.
If you want to sync, then you would have to uncheck it.
To sync, open itunes , connect iphone , go to esch tab, select what you would like to be on the iphone and sync.  Only what is selected will sync.  The iphone does not act a storage device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.
You cannot do both.  Switching between the two will erase the current content.

  • Can I print from my 4s iphone using my 6500 series hp photosmart all in one 709e printer?

Can I print documents from my 4S Iphone with my HP 6500 series all in one 709E printer? It states that it cannot locate printer when I attempt to print.

If the printer is not AirPrint compatible but is wi-fi capable, you will need to get one of the many wi-fi printing apps available at the app store. HP has an app. Some of the wi-fi printing apps have more capabilities than others.

  • Can't Drag from iTunes into Garageband anymore

After routine software update to iTunes 10 and Garageband 09 version 5.1,  I can no longer drag files from iTunes into Garageband, whereas I always could before. Whats wrong?  I'm using an iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.

Somehow, when I tried to drag from the finder, I didn't always get the right song!  But if I double clicked that song in the finder, the right song was played by iTunes, even though the wrong song showed up in Garage Band.  Dragging to and from the desktop worked fine, and I just dragged it from the desktop to the trash after I worked on it in Garage Band for editing and "sharing" back into iTunes.

  • CAN'T DRAG & DROP SONGS TO IPHONE

I just bought a new iPhone and I can't drag and drop any of my songs. However, i'm able to drag and drop songs with my 30 gb iPod. Help!!!!

    Hi jasondechert!
First, make sure that iTunes sees the device. When you click on the device it'll bring you to the device summary tab where it lists basic information about your device. You should see other tabs, one of which is entitled "Music."
Click on the Music tab and you'll presented with the following options:
    1. Sync Music (with a checkbox)
    2. All songs and playlists (with a radio box)
    3. Selected playlists (with a radio box)
    4. A listing of the playlists in iTunes (each with a checkbox)
    5. Include music videos (with a checkbox)
Keep in mind that everything will be grayed out if you don't have the first checkbox (Sync music) checked. Once you check that first box you can then choose to sync all of your music (the entire library) or specific playlists. If you select "selected playlists" it will then allow you to choose the specific playlists you want to sync.

After software update I can't drag  songs from iTunes directly into Garageband timeline, always could before, how can I fix this?

Same problem here but figured it out: Drag the song from the Media Browser tab (after selecting iTunes at the top) at the bottom right when you open a new GarageBand project. Hope this helps you -- working perfectly for me!

  • My home PC runs Windows XP, which doesn't support iCloud.  Is there another way I can get photos from my new iPhone 5 to my PC other than iCloud?  Thanks.

Is there a way I can get pictures from my iPhone 5 to my home PC, which runs Windows XP?  iCloud is not supported for XP, only Vista and 7.  Can anyone out there tell me how to move photos from my iPhone to my PC?  Thank you.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  Then put the photos in a folder and sync them to your new phone by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

  • Can't Drag and Drop to iPhone using iTunes 10.7.0.21

I cant manually drag and drop my video files to my iPhone using iTunes. When I click on my device and go to summary and check "Manually manage music and videos"  and click apply I get a message saying " The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with another library?"
" An iPhone can be synced with only ones iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents, of this phone with the contents of this iTunes library"
My options are to erase and sync or cancel. I do not want to erase the contents of my iPhone can anyone help?

To recap... here is a fuller version of my advice on "how to move a library from one computer to another."
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
As I said in the other thread if you want to be certain of attracting my attention simply post into either of these threads to which I've already posted. These come to the top my active list whenever a new post is added to the thread. Otherwise I keep a general lookout across a number of forums for the threads where I think I can help, but I don't get to read everything...
