Can't drag Livetype Icon over to FCP - fix?

Hi
Haven't used my FCP for over a year - using it today...I thought I used to be able to simply drag my Livetype (1.2) file from Livetype over to FCP 4.5...now it doesn't work, I'm sure I used to do this...I grab the Livetype icon on top the canvas in Livetype, drag it over to my Viewer window in FCP...but nothing happens, what to do?
Thanks
KB

Thanks for reply - it won't drag into browser...I know that I used to drag the LT ipr file (draging the LT icon on top the LT viewer) into the FCP viewer, then find my in point and edit into timeline. Can't do that now...at the moment I have to render the LT to mov then import that into FCP...I even have a program from 2005 with all the LT ipr files on its timeline, reminding me I used to be able to do this. So might it be my version of QT issue?

  • Cannot download newer version of Firefox. When I drag the icon over the folder it says "Cannot upgrade. You do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."

Everything seems to go as planned according to the steps on the screen except for the last one dragging the icon over the file folder.

Download the new version you want with other browsers like IE (Windows), Safari (Mac) and remove the last version. Then install the package you downloaded.
Here you can download version 6.0: [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html Download]

  • Can't drag disk icon in Disk Utility to restore backup image

I'm restoring my MacBook from a backup image I made on my external HD with SuperDuper! and I've run into a big problem. I've booted from my OS X CD. I'm in Disk Utility, and while my external drive mounts and I can select the image in the 'restore' pane, I can't for the life of me drag any icon to the 'destination' field. Any help with this?

    Hi
I have exactly the same problem,i backed up my internal HD, and want to restore it by starting my mac mini intel single core with the original delivered os dvd including diskutilities. But no way it is not possible to drag a volume or partition to the required field to the left.I called apple support and the guy did not understand what I'm talking about at all, and told me he will forward to the developer dep.
Never mind, I recovered the mac mini intel with ccc , thanks God I did an image backup and a ccc !
Yesterday my mac mini intel audio hardware has broken, so I have to do another bkp with booted up os dvd to bring in to a serviceprovider.
Tried to recover for security issues , but disk utilitiy did not work again , no drag 'n' drop possible - this problem never exists under powermac before and its driving me mad under intel macs
I did a trick to show thats it is definitely the revision of this os dvd and disk utilities (x86 intel rev.)
I did a clean install form this os dvd, then cloned the interal harddisk to a external firewire disk making it bootable (using ccc for all)
I did no software update just clean from the dvd, restarted , choosed external firewire harddisk, et voila - opened disk utilitiy to restore dmg image for the internal hd and drag 'n' drop works without problems!!
    Resumee:
my delivered os dvd 10.4.5 AHT vesrion 3A102 disc version 1.0 2Z691-5738-A has the biggest bug of all, it can not recover a backed up image at all - that is a revision e.g. release bug (error).
I will have to return this dvd !

  • I can't drag the Icon into the Applic. folder

I have a iMac and can't drag the FF icon into the Applications folder

Firefox 5 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 5 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • On my mac it doesn't let me bookmark some sites when i drag the icon over or click on bookmark this page. Is there a fix for this?

When i drag a URL over to my bookmarks or click on bookmark this page (on a Mac BTW) it doesn't let me do it. Not even with the star. Like when i try to bookmark some cell phone forums and gamefaq boards it says "website did not supply identity information" and it doesn't even let me bookmark that page unless i go to a different part of the site. Is there any type of fix for this???

    Hi punisherbv,
Are you using the beta? it's not fully secure, so try using Firefox 3 instead. If you are already using Firefox 3, it seems like what Firefox is saying is correct- the site is not supplying identity information. So what you could do is go to that exact site, then click on the little golden lock at the very corner of the page. Then, enter the 'permissions' tab and allow everything. Exit, and then try bookmarking the page!

  • Can't drag an icon to the dock

I am a recent Mac convert and I just set up user profiles on my Mac Mini for my two kids. My son plays Pirates of the Caribbean online. I installed it on the Mac and when I opened the applications folder and tried to drag the icon into the doc it wouldn't drag and I got an error message saying I couldn't launch the application from there. I wasn't trying to start it from there, only drag it. There was no problem performing the same task with Safari. I also had no problem dragging the icon to the dock under my user profile (admin.) Does anyone have any ideas of what I need to do to fix this?
    Thanks!

If you have Parental Controls turned on you must explicitly allow an application to launch. You've downloaded a new program and by default it cannot be run. You'll need to open Parental Controls, find the program in the list of applicaitons, and put a checkmark on it to give permission to it to run.
Also when you get application update alerts and update a program, be sure to try running it immediately. Sometimes Parental Controls will see an updated program as being totally new and you'll need to go back in and set its permission again.

  • I can't drag Firefox icon from Applications folder to dock--what am I doing wrong?

Trying to update Firefox. Followed easy-sounding directions on Firefox site (download, copy to Applications folder, drag icon to dock). BUT...I can't get the Firefox icon to "stick"in the doc. Hasn't updated Firefox.

Firefox 3.0 versions and later require at least Mac OS X 10.4

  • Can't drag desktop icons & other problems

Hi.. I cannot drag my desktop icons nor items from a folder to DT. When this happened, I lost printing from my Lexmark E120N, my memory chips were listed as 68k and 28 k when they are 1 gig & 2 gig. That seems to have cleared up. I also cannot copy anything nor paste anything. When attempting to use Tech Tool 5, it opens, but is frozen. I ran it from the install disk & it said everything was fine! Any help will be greatly appreciated.... TIA, Jack PS: I repaired permissions also.

    HI Jack,
You booted from your Apple install disk and the hard disk "*appears to be ok*? Did you check the S.M.A.R.T status? Here's how.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
Also, run the Apple Hardware Test
If you can, make sure your important files are backed up.

  • Can't drag effects into timeline in Fcp

Hello, so I just installed final cut studio 2 and am used to being able to drag effects (like dissolves and such) into the timeline right from the effects window. Final Cut is not letting me do this. Also I have this weird problem where I can't see anything i put on the timeline in the canvas. I can hear it when I play the timeline and I can look at the files in the viewer (they are quicktime) but not on the canvas. Occasionally I can see one fram and when the project is un-rendered and the red bar shows up above the timeline I can drag through and watch some of it. But never when playing. Weird dilemma. Anyone know what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

here's the settings: 640 x 480 ntsc 4:3, pixel aspect ratio: square, anamorphic not checked, field dominance none, editing timebase: 29.97, compressor: motion JPEG A, quality 100%
video processing: render in 8-bit YUV
I'm doing everything as i've always done with regard to transistions.. it just won't let me drag them in to the timeline.. this goes for everything under the effects tab: such as video generators: text and things like that. I appreciate your help.

  • Can't drag FF icon into Applic. folder on my iMac

see q. above; this is my 4th time trying.

  • Can't put firefox icon in the dock

the second thing I am support to do is to drag firefox icon over to the A folder I can't do it not with a single click or a double click or just drag it over to A folder there is where I am stuck then from the A folder I should drag the the firefox icon down to the dock but I can't

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 17.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.
Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

  • Can't drag files... need help, please!

Hoping someone can help me. I came the other day to find that none of the files on our iMac G5 could be dragged. Stuff on the desktop couldn't be moved, re-arranged, etc. Even in iTunes, files couldn't be dragged to new playlists.
They'll still open if double clicked.
I'm not sure what happened. My wife said she was playing a game that crashed suddenly, then all of a sudden this.
Any advice? I just can't figure this one out.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip, but that wasn't it.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know... I can't figure this out for the life of me. I can't drag any icon or file. But the mouse does work for clicking... (ie. files can be opened).

  • Can't drag-and-drop into applications folder

Just got a new iMac last week, my old ibook finally died. I'm trying to install firefox in the imac and i can't. It downloads fine, I can open up the .dmg file, but then I can't drag the icon into the applications folder. I can drag it, but nothing happens when I try to drop it. I've tried using the alias folder, the folder on the dock, just doing it in the finder window, nothing works! tried re-downloading, everything i can think of. Since it is a new machine, do i have something in preferences set wrong? Help!!!

Do you have "allow user to administer this computer" checked off in your account in System Preferences -> Accounts ?
Also, right click on your Applications folder, and hit "Get Info" Make sure that the group that owns it is "admin" and "admin" has read and write privileges. If it's admin, but it says "read only" click on the lock, put in your password, and flip up the group privs and change it to read and write.
If the group is NOT admin on the Get Info screen, you will need to launch /Applications/Terminal.app and issue this command:
    chgrp admin /Applications
