Can't drag movie to my itouch

HI,
Firstly, I'd like to thank Stedman1 who respond my previous questions promptly and I've upgrated my itouch to version 3.1.3. However, there are movies which can be played in itunes but can't be draged in my itouch. It is said that because this moive can't be played in my ipod touch. Why? The format of the movie is mp4. What should i do?
Thanks
Jen

Hello Jen,
Your iPod can be a little picky when it comes to the details of movies, even ones that are in an iPod compatible format.  Try using iTunes built in converter to convert the movie to a more iPod friendly format.  To do this, highlight the video, and choose Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu in iTunes.
When it has finished converting, try syncing the newly created version to your iPod.

  • Can't drag .mov file to aut play box.

When I import a quick time file movie I can't drag into the auto start box so that the DVD can just play when inserted. I get no error because the video won't even drag into the auto start box. What is causing this? I'm on a deadline and need to burn a DVD to hand out tomorrow. Thanks.

Sometimes permissions and preferences can get corrupted. Whenever iDVD starts acting funny, a common maintenance procedure is to do the following: Delete preferences by closing iDVD and trashing the file com.apple.iDVD.plist found in User (the House icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility App on your Mac. Open the Disk Utilities window and select the Mac hard drive icon at the top of the side pane at the left. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. When you have repaired permissions and deleted preferences, restart your computer and launch iDVD. iDVD will replace the .plist file that you deleted. Be sure also that you have sufficient free disk space on your hard drive for iDVD to function correctly. 25GB often is recommended by users of this forum. After doing all of the above, relaunch iDVD and see whether you still have the problem.
If you still have the problem, then perhaps your Quicktime.MOV movie is in a format that is not compatible with iMovie. The .mov designation can contain any number of different codecs. See if you can import the movie by dragging it into the edge of your iDVD menu window (not into a drop zone). If it won't import, try opening a new iDVD project and try to import it it there. If still unsuccessful, try copying your movie and converting it to DV stream by using the free download, Streamclip. Drag it into the Streamclip window and then File > Export to DV.
    Good luck with this.

  • Can't drag movies into iPod from iTunes

    Hi,
I had a problem a while back importing movies that I had compressed (using Handbrake) into iTunes. Once I updated/reinstalled the iPod software it was fine.
Last night I did the same with a couple of episodes of 24- both imported and will play in iTunes but only one can be transferred to my iPod. It says that "This movie cannot be played on an iPod" but the formats of the 2 shows were identical.
This is obviously for my own use so I'm hoping I'm doing nothing illegal.
    Any ideas?

Ah. Just updated iPod again and movie dragged in fine.
Odd how it should work for one and not the other.
I guess that could a "bug fix" that the update referred to?

  • Can't drag movies into iTunes v8

or should I rather say, I can drag 'em, but the do not land there.
When dragging a .avi-movie in Vista, the thumbnail is shown, but the LIBRARY tab does not highlight, when dragging the movie over it (as it is, when dragging an MP3 there) Dropping the file subsequently does nothing. The iPod manual says iTunes supports all files supported in Quicktime, and the file in question plays fine in Quicktime...
    Any idea would be appreciated.

  • I can't drag .mov files into an iMessage as I could earlier

Used to, I could drag a movie file into iMessage and send it to my friends quite easily. It was the most convenient way to send content and raw footage to schoolmates for projects and what not, but now when I do this it doesn't add any footage, but instead a blank line?  I really need to be able to send videos this way as my class almost requires us to share content.

I've seen where you've helped a lot of people and hopefully you can help me as I'm stumped. I have a Canon Vixia HFS200 and having trouble getting some movie clips to import from SD card. In the past, if a 'still' pic is taken on the same card, iMovie won't recognize anything as being importable. If I deleted the photos, I was able to import without a problem but this time, there are no stills on the card but still doesn't recognize anything importable, even though there are 140 or so .MTS files.
I've tried a conversion software that I was able to view them but had the company logo over the top. I wasn't sure if there was a way to manually or 'force' them to import? Appreciate any suggestions.

  • Can't drag movies into my nano from itunes

I have a Nano 5th gen and when i connect it to itunes and try to sync movies i get a message saying that the movie can not be played on my ipod. can anybody help?

    Hello RP 24,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Were these videos purchased from the iTunes store or imported from your own collection?
If they were imported to your iTunes library, trying using iTunes built in converter to convert the iPod to a more iPod friendly format. To do this, locate the video you wish to sync to your iPod, right->click on it and choose "create iPod or iPhone version" from the shortcut menu (or via the Advanced drop down menu). When it has finished converting, try syncing the new version to your iPod and see if that helps.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't upload .mov files to iTunes anymore

Hi!  I don't know if this just started when I upgraded to Lion and did all of the recent updates to iTunes, and added iCloud, etc, but suddenly I can't drag .mov files into iTunes like I used to be able to do. I can't add them with the Add To Library menu either. Because of this I can't put them on my iPad. Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a fix?  TIA!

Actually, I can't open anything in quicktime anymore. I've tried opening avis, mov, mp4 and m4a files... all give the same error message and number. I've reinstalled both qt and itunes but no luck.

  • Can't Drag N Drop Movies To iTouch/iTunes

I've had my 16GB iTouch for about a month now, and up until today, I only had my Apps and Movies on my iTouch.
I had my Apps set in iTunes 8.2 to Sync All APlications.
For Movies, I just had my own files that I converted to proper MP4 format, and I would drag and drop them from explorer to the Movies subset that showed on my Touch in iTunes (on the left). Then I would delete the movies from my hard drive, everything worked great! I just want to drag n drop Movies manually this way rather than have iTunes auto sync.
Well, today I decided to add some music. So, I added some music files (AAC) to my Music folder in iTunes, set my Touch to Sync Music (All Songs and Playlists).
I hit Sync, and I thought everything went smoothly. Well, low and behold, this deleted ALL the Movies on my Touch! And now I can no longer just drag and drop Movies from my hard drive into the Movies subset of my Touch in iTunes... I get a red circle with a line thru it.
The only way to add Movies now is to add them to iTunes and set it to auto sync movies (leaving them on my hard drive).
I did a RESTORE FROM BACKUP to my Ipod Touch, and things were back to normal. I can drag and drop Movies again!
But as soon as I enable auto syncing of Music, I lose the ability to drag and drop Movies onto my Touch thru iTunes... and it deletes any movies currently on my Touch!
I have latest iTunes 8.2 and firmware OS 3.0

    Ah I discovered the reason.
When you check the Sync Music And Playlists, the Manually Manage Music & Videos option on the main page of the iTouch in iTunes becomes unchecked.
Once i re-enabled this option, I could drag and drop videos again. Kinda wonky, but it works!

  • Can't drag songs into playlists or move in playlists easily

I have upgraded to Lion and the latest iTunes and now I am finding it VERY hard to move tracks in the program. For example, dragging a track from the library into an existing playlist is **** near impossible. And when I FINALLY get it in there it is ABSOLUTELY near impossible to move it’s position up or down on the playlist. What gives? Any ideas?

Before anyone suggests the following I have tried this already:
    •restarted itunes
    •restarted mac
•made sure shuffle is turned off
•made sure the playlist order is selected
Also, it is NOT a smart playlist. I know you can’t drag tracks into smart playlists.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Can't drag and drop or import movie clips or ver. 8 projects into iMovie 9

    Hello:
I just installed Leopard (OS X) with iLife and iWork (although I didn't actually install iWork). I can't drag and drop .mov or .dv files into a project. If I "File-->Import-->Movies", all the types I want to import (.mov & .dv) are grayed-out. I created and saved a project with the older version of iMovie (8) and then tried to import it into iMovie 9. The result is a message in the clips panel that says "No matching video. Choose a different options from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner." So far, everything I wanted to do is bust. Can somebody help?
    Thanks.
    Etude.

I have tuns of .mp4 clips, converted them to .mov clips... .
    How?
    easy way:
    • double-click mp4 to open it in QuicktimePlayer.app
    (does it play the video?)
    • File/Export/choose 720p (if optional, if not 480p)
    • import THAT into iMovie using iMovies import routine, proceed …

  • Can't drag, drop, or move icons from dock

The issue exactly is that I can no longer move icons to the dock, remove them from the dock, reorder them, or delete them. The context menu still works fine, I just can't drag and drop. Furthermore, if I attempt to drag and drop from a stack, it reads the action as if I am trying to open the file.
    I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1
    Things I've tried so far:
    Repair disk permissions
    Repair ACL permissions
    Rebuild directories
    Relaunch dock
    Reset dock to defaults
Rebooting/logging out (both fix the problem temporarily, however it returns within an hour of regular use)
Trying to hunt down any extensions that might be causing issues...can't find anything (problem persists in guest account as well)
    Rebuild and repair kexts
    Cleaned out all caches
    Reinstalled OS X
Wiped disk and performed clean install.
I don't have anything installed that does any low level modifications (no third party antivirus or tweaking/tune up tools). For the life of me I can't figure this one out and it's really getting annoying to not be able to use my dock.

    Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command
    killall Dock
Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.
If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Learned from leonie.

  • I can't drag a movie from my iTunes library on my new computer to my iPad.

I can't drag a movie from my iTunes library on my new computer to my iPad.  Supposedly the computer isn't authorized but when I go to authorization it says it already is.  All my old movies that I migrated will drag over just not the new download ones I just downloaded.  Any suggestions?

Are you able to sync the movies in the iTunes Library from the Movies pane in iTunes?

  • Why can't I move files by dragging any more?

Since I got Mavericks I'm having copying files by dragging them. When I drag a file from one folder to the desktop I get an alias. I have to literally copy the file paste where I want it to go, and then delete the original. This is a text file. Is there a way I can get it to just move the file from one place to another by dragging? I can Option drag a file but then I have to delete the original.

    Hi Ken Spiker!
I have an article for you that may help you understand these aspects of Mavericks a little better:
