Can't drag new song into playlist

I just purchased a song and attempted to drag it from the "Recently Purchased" column to my "Christmas" playlist. I get a warning that says only iCloud songs can be put in iCloud playlists and the song will only be available on the computer if I proceed...but this IS an iCloud song. The button I am apparently supposed to select says "Remove Playlist." I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that.
I keep reading negative comments on forums about the iCloud and I have to say, it's been nothing but trouble for me so far. Can I simply remove it (without disrupting my library) and just take the $25 loss? It's not worth the hassle.

Just bought a new ipod
Where did you find a new 4G iPod?
all of the songs in the ipod show up as light gray on my computer screen
Because the iPod is set to Auto update.
I copied one song from cd, made new playlist of this song,
You don't have to put song into a playlist to put them onto the iPod. Playlists are an easy way to arrange music and select certain tracks.
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod. Set it to Auto update ALL songs and playlists.
Any new songs and playlists will go onto the iPod when you plug it in.

I can't drag my songs into playlists, or arrange them on a playlist. What's wrong?

I have about 50 playlists that I created as playlists and have always been able to add songs to as I purchased them. The lists were originally created as regular playlists. Then, one day I opened up iTunes and all the existing playlists I had created as playlists, and has always added songs to, had the "gear" symbols and acted like genius playlists. How can I change them back and why did this happen...any ideas?

  • Can't Drag & Drop Songs into Playlists

I am astounded that this appears to be such a wide spread issue and there do not seem to be any useful responses to the issue. I have always been able to drag music from my iTunes library into playlists I have already created. Now the playlists I previously created (they were not created as genius playlists) all have a funny "gear wheel" shaped symbol next to them and will not accept anything dragged from the library. If I create a new playlist (which now shows a "purchased music" symbol) and give it the name of one of the already created playlists, I can drag library music into it, but I don't want to have to recreate every playlist and manually re-drag every song into the playlists. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

  • I can't drag new snippets into mini bridge in CC

I can no longer drag new snippets into mini bridge after an upgrade to CC.  When I try to drag an item into mini bridge I see a green plus icon for a fraction of a second then in disappears. This is the second computer (macbook) I've had this problem on. Similar situation with both computers. Everything worked when I was on CS6, but after installing CC it stopped working. Uninstalling CS6 doesn't seem to have any impact on the problem.

I don't think I understand what you're trying to do. When you export a snippet, you're creating a separate IDMS file in an external location. If you wanted to move the snippet to a different external location, it would make sense to use the full Adobe Bridge application.
If I want to use a snippet file on a page, I can definitely drag the snippet from MiniBridge onto the page, and I get the Place cursor, and can place it in InDesign CC.

  • Can't drag new songs to ipod playlist

in the past several weeks, for no apparent reason, i've lost the functionality to drag itunes music over to the playlist for my ipod nano. the ipod continues to function fine, and the ipod/itunes reliably syncs my podcasts.
there's plenty of space, and i can't find any setting that would not enable this.

I'm having the same problem! I've purchased several new songs which will play fine on the computer, but if I drag them to the iPod playlist, I can't listen to them on the Pod.
I hope this can be fixed quickly. It's driving me nuts.

  • Can I drag Spotify songs into iTunes? (After purchasing Premium Spotify.)

I am thinking about buying Premium Spotify but before I do I was wondering if there is a way to drag songs from Spotify to iTunes after downloading them? I know you can take iTunes songs to Spotify. But I want to buy Spotify but keep using iTunes. So is there a way to get Spotify songs into iTunes?

    No. Spotify says here...
"Can I listen Spotify music with my own music player?
No. Why? This is simple. Spotify use a protected files, so music player like iTunes or WMP can not read those as music files. Only Spotify can understand those files. Also you need to use Spotify, because only this way Spotify can pay for right holders."
Spotify is like Netflix, you can have access and listen to all the music, but you can never own them and do whatever you please with them.

  • Can't upload new songs into old library?

I had another itunes account under another email... I moved... I misplaced my ipod & went on with my life.
I found my ipod. I created a new acct with my new email & bought a bunch of songs. Now there's some foolishness that I can't have 2 libraries & so I can't get my new songs on the ipod with my old stuff. There are threats of deleting the old library for the new & I can't have that!
Any suggestions appreciated before I put my ipod back in a drawer. Please feel free to point me to another thread or a section in a manual. I've given up trying to find the answer myself as I am old, cranky & up way after my bed time.
    Thanks

    Welcome to AD!
There are a few ways to approach this.
First off, authorize your PC under the old account. If you have forgotten the details, use these directions to recover your old account info.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/password/
You might need to contact iTS support if you can't get to the old email.
Once you get the PC authorized with the old account, you should be able to use the "Transfer Purchases" feature - and not erase anything.

  • Trying to use my home sharing on new macbook air, but I physically can't drag the songs into my music. What do I need to do to change this?

Basically, I've set up my home sharing between my macbook air, and our mac mini at home. The home sharing option shows up on both computars, and the music is visable and available to listen to when I bring it up on home sharing from the mac mini, but when I try to actually drag the music over to my music on my macbook. Both of our itunes are completely up to date. Is there any way to fix this?

*When I try to drag over the music, it won't let me. That's what I meant to say.

  • Can't Drag Certain Songs Into iTunes

    Hi,
With a couple of my mp3 tracks, every time I try to drag them into my iTunes library, nothing happens.
The tracks don't show up in my iTunes library, no matter how many times I try to drag them in, and I don't know what to do about it.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi e.cruddas,
That inscrutable "nothing happens" is normal iTunes behavior when it finds a file to be incompatible.
First, try to play the file in another player, such as Windows Media Player. If it plays there, then the problem is some kind of minor corruption or variation in the MP3 headers that iTunes is sensitive to. Usually the simplest fix is to use a program such as Audacity or Switch that can take the file and create a new "clean" MP3.

  • Can't drag new media into a project!

I've created a poster in pages and it will not allow me to drag photos into the placeholder spots. I've tried with other new projects and Pages will not allow me to drag any photos from my media library onto any document. The placeholders say "This image is a placeholder. Drag a new media file here to replace it." When I try to drag I do not get the usual green plus sign. Nothing happens. Suggestions please?

Is your system description up to date ?
It claims mac OS X 10.5.3 but iWork '09 requires at least 10.5.5 !

I followed the instructions in the help menu on doing this but nothing seems to work, Help anybody ? Have installed the lastest version of itunes and I'm running windows XP.   Thanks

Is it possible that you are not seeing the thirteenth song because you did not scroll all the way down within the playlist?
    Hope this helps!

  • Drag and drop new songs to playlist in iTunes 11

In iTunes 10 and below we were always able to add new songs to iTunes from Finder by just dragging and dropping into any playlist and it would automatically show up.
In iTunes 11, dragging and dropping new songs to a playlist from outside iTunes adds the songs but only into the "Songs" view. We have to take an extra step to select all the songs from the "Songs" list and put them onto each playlist. This is HORRIBLE and counter-productive since I have over 200 playlists and it takes much longer to add new songs.
Is there a way to have the songs STAY in the playlist without having to drag them from the "Songs" section? I love the new interface but this is just stupid. If I'm dragging songs onto the playlist I expect them to stay there, not require me to leave the playlist and find them in my library and come back to add it to the playlist. UGH.

I did activate the Sidebar, but even when I have my playlist selected via the Sidebar adding songs from Finder doesn't show up in the playlist. I have so scroll all the way up to the top and find what I just imported in the main Music section where it shows my entire library. Then from there I drag the newly imported songs to the playlist I wanted.
Sorry for the confusing description, It's probably much easier to show in person or something. But previously when I added new songs into a playlist the songs will automatically show up on the Playlist without me having to go to Music and find it in my entire library.

If you right mouse and select Get info it will show you the Apple ID used to purchase these songs.
Usually the name of an apple id is based on the email. So knowing that you may have forgotten the Apple ID password.
You can request a new password here http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/

  • How can I add new songs to the top (not the bottom) of my playlist in iTunes?

How can I add new songs to the top of my playlist in iTunes?
I thought thats what it did before but now it automatically adds new songs to the bottom of the list.
Not a huge issue but an annoyance.

    Go to your Music library
    Then, Click Playlist
Then, Click the sort arrow until it points down.
