Can't drag photos to page

With iWeb '09 I can't drag photos from iPhoto events. It worked with iWeb '08 very well. How do you reset iWeb '09?
Milan

It's an easy way to create multiple photo pages on one page. Each album points to a photo page and slideshow. That way you can have several albums on a page as the "index/contents" page for multiple photo pages/slideshows. This is an example. Useful for multiple slideshows of a trip, an album for each country/city, etc. However, those with IE are not allowed to view.

  • Can't Drag Photos Into Email

I have '09 and use Entourage as my email client. For some reason when I updated to '09 I can't drag photos into an open email.
Not sure if it's an issue with Entourage or iPhoto, but it did work fine prior to my upgrading.
    Any suggestions??
Also, aside from beginning an email from iPhoto what is the best way to add pictures to an existing (fwd.) or new email not originated from iPhoto??
    Much thanks in advance.

    Any of the Following:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Can't Drag Photos Between Events

Having just upgraded to iPhoto 11, I find I can't drag photos between events. The help info seems to be the same as the prior version, but when I select two events, then select a photo and drag it, the photo springs back to it's current location.
Any preferences or techniques I'm missing? Thanks.

    Terence,
Thanks for your suggestions and sorry for the confusion; I misspoke in the sentence you quoted from my last post.
I don't want to drag photos internally within an event, I want to drag them from one event to another.
In prior versions of iPhoto I could do this in Events mode (perhaps Photos mode as well, but I never tried). I opened two or more Events simultaneously, highlighted the photos in one event and dragged and dropped them anywhere inside another. Now, I can only do this by dropping on the event title.
iPhoto 11 help topic "Move photos between events" steps it out. The pertinent points are:
Select two Events: the one you want to move photos from and the one you want to move those photos to.
TIP: Drag your pointer to enclose two Events that are next to one another. To select two Events that aren’t adjacent, click the first Event to select it, and then hold down the Command key as you click the second Event.
    Double-click one of the Events.
Both Events open. The photos they contain appear in the window below their Event titles.
Select the photos you want to move, and drag them to the Event you want to add them to.
It doesn't work for me, and I'm wondering what's changed in iPhoto 11, or does my software have a bug? Thanks.

  • Can you drag photos/elements into PSE 9.0 on Mac

hello, I just switched to a Mac and am using PSE 9.0. Can you drag photos or elements into the project bin? I can't seem to figure it out and it's frustrating me, I could just open my files in my computer on my PC and drag what I wanted in. How do you do this on a Mac or do I have to open each one separately? thanks!! I'm a digi scrapper and it's driving me nuts!!

You can drag one photo into the workspace (not the project bin) if there's not another photo open, but for some reason in PSE 9 it stops working with additional photos. This is a PSE 9 bug, though, not the usual behavior of previous mac versions.

  • Can't drag photos into iDVD

I've followed all of the instructions but none of my photos (jpeg) will stay in the drop zone where it says "drag photos here" . I can drag them there but then they just pop back over...HELP I'm getting really frustrated.

Also watch the cursor -- when you have an image file in the right format (jpeg should be fine; could try converting to tiff) and drag it to the drop zone, the cursor should change and show a "plus" sign.

  • Can't drag photos an  event

iPhoto 08 has been loaded and all seems well except for the following
When I try to drag photos around in an event they spring back to their original location. While dragging the number of photos to be draqged (usually 1) is displayed in a red circle.
I have reset each of the three Helvetica fonts as suggested on this forum.
Furthermore when I select View/Sort/Photos, "Manual Drag" and Reset Manual Drag" are dimmed and can't be accessed.
    Anyy suggestions?

    CcOMaster:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you've opened an event from the Events window then, yes you can't manually sort as in that mode. To sort manually open that particular event while in the Photo mode with Events titles displayed.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can't drag Photos

I've been dragging photos out of iPhoto and into a folder on desktop, but suddenly I cannot.  Why?!  I've tried everything I can think of.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Can't drag photos to desktop

I often drag photos out of iPhoto onto my desktop, for various reasons, to work with them. I've done this for forever. All of a sudden, with a certain set of photos, it won't let me do this. When I try to place them on my desktop, instead of getting the little green plus sign, I get a white circle with a slash through it. This is only happening with a few photos that I edited (that's never mattered before). I don't know where to begin to figure this one out. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had that happen to me several months ago. I somehow got several thousand photos that refused to be edited or moved.
It turned out to be a corrupted external hard drive that I knew was failing and I copied my photos to my newer drive before the drive totally gave up. However, the copied photo libraries were corrupted.
Fortunately, I had followed Old Toad's advice* to make copies of the library6.iPhoto files, and I had backed them up to another external drive BEFORE the old drive ruined the photos. Although I copied the photos to a new drive, I did not do a back up again, so my library6.iPhoto files were still backups from the good photos.
I was able to retrieve these files from my backup iPhoto Library, and reimported all the 'good' photos from them to replace the 'bad' ones. It was tedious, but I recovered all but two photos!
Hopefully you have backups of your iPhotoLibrary?

One thing I did that made it easy to see which photos were bad, was to mark them with the 'Hide' command. I had all of them in albums, and didn't hide them, but since they were marked with that X it was easy to identify them and put the good photo where it belonged. I had all my photos arranged chronologically, so it was very important to put them back in order.

  • Help! can't drag photos into or within imovie

I have a couple hundred pictures in imovie already.  everything was working fine, and now I am unable to drag photos into the project.  it shows the green line and the plus sign as if its adding it but nothing happens.  it has been freezing and i have tried restarting it which worked initially but not anymore.  I can add music and videos, just not pictures. I also realized that I cannot drag the photos around within the project now. I have to present this on Monday! I make a slideshow/movie every year and this is a brand new MacBook so I can't believe I am having problems when my old computer worked fine!

  • Can't drag icons across pages

I uploaded all my iPhone apps and now I'm de-cluttering the mess. Few icons move across pages and the empty pages don't close. I can't move folders across pages at all. What trick am I missing?

It can be done, but from my personal experience it takes a special touch.  An easier way would be to connect your iPad to iTunes, open the device, click on apps and you can use your mouse to drag icons from page to page and even create folders, by dropping one app into another (when you do, a name the folder bar opens as well).

  • Trying to make a book -- can't drag photos

So I just got iLife and I was messing around trying to make a book and I can't drag the pictures from the bar up at the top to the blank space in the book.
I don't know what's going on, or if anyone else is having this problem.
If anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate it so much!
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Adam:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It's probably a problem with the font iPhoto uses, Helvetica Neue. Open Font Book and make sure it's installed. If it is, deactivate it and then reactivate.
If you don't have it installed use Pacifist to locate the font on your system install disk and install it.

  • Can't drag photos into timeline

I opened a new project with the widescreen setting and can't load photos onto the timeline. They act like they are loading, show up as a blip on the timeline, then disappear. The same photos work on a standard non widescreen project, but not here. Audio imports fine. Any ideas?

You don't really loose much if anything. You only need to move the in on one and the out on the next 15 frames for a one second transition. Plus the 30 frames are not gone, they are part of the transition and can be seen, depending on the type of transition.

  • Can't drag photos from Media Inspector/Iphoto onto photo grid page

Each time I try to drag the picture pops back into iphoto list

You may have an issue with your iPhoto Library.
    To test:
1.) Hold down the option key
2.) Launch iPhoto while still holding option
    3.) Click on create new
    4.) Save a new library
5.) Go to File > Import to Library and import a few pictures from Macintosh HD > Library > Desktop Pictures
__Try dragging a picture in iWeb now
If it works then your iPhoto Library is damaged.
1.) Hold down the option key
2.) Launch iPhoto while still holding option
3.) Choose your original iPhoto Library
4.) Follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 to rebuild your library. Check off the bottom 3 options and rebuild. Then try iWeb again.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't drag in pdf pages on my MacBook (but I can on my iMac)?

I am using Keynote for the first time to create a presentation for next week. I need to bring in every page of a many-paged pdf file. I found some threads on how to do this, but was totally unable to "drag" any pages from the Preview sidebar into Keynote while using my MacBook. I tried on my new iMac and was able to. The Keynote version is the same, but my MacBook is running OS X 10.4.11 while my iMac is 10.6. Is it an issue with Preview? Can I fix it? I really need to be able to make modifications when I'm at the presentation and will only have my MacBook.
    Thanks,
    Caroline

I got this answered on the OS 10.4 discussions. It is an issue with the older version of Preview.
