Can't drag songs to iPod Touch

Sometimes when I try to drag songs or albums to my ipod I'm not able to drag them. It acts as if I'm trying to rename the file. Drag just doesn't work. I have to restart iTunes to get is to work properly again. Am I doing something wrong?

Probably, if you set your iTunes to automatically manage music on you iPod, you won't be able to drag files manually into the iPod. To see your settings, click on your iPod's name, on the left bar, then choose "manually manage music and video" if you want to be able to drag files onto the touch

Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Monty's solution will work if you have left the songs in one of your playlists. Another idea if that doesn't work is to check your iTunes list for that iPod. Check at the very bottom beneath the albums, artist,s and other content to add to your iPod, and be sure that you don't have individual songs selected to be added as well. If you do, eliminate them from that bottom list, and you should be fine.

  • Can't add songs to iPod Touch after updating to v2.0

I just updated my iPod Touch to v2.0 and now I cannot load any songs onto it. When I drag songs or playlists over the Touch in the iTunes Devices list they just bounce off. Everything else seems to be acting properly. Contacts, Photos, etc. sync/update just fine.
I had this problem before after updating to Leopard. I can't find the thread I used then. It walked you through a process of deleting some file in the User>>Library folder before reinstalling iTunes. Unfortunately I don't remember which file(s) need to be tossed.
Anybody know the sequence or have a link to the earlier thread?
    Thanks...

    An update...
Having nothing left to lose, I trashed iTunes and reinstalled it. Now I can at least sync Playlists. I'm not sure why I can't drag songs onto the iPod touch.
Still waiting for help on that one...

  • Can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud, can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud

once you upload songs, photos or documents fron ipod touch to icloud, can you delete them from ipod touch to free up memory from ipod touch and can you access them from icloud without downloading to ipod?

You can't upload music to iCloud unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber, and if you are the songs are uploaded or matched from the iTunes library on your computer, not your device.  Photos are only uploaded to Photo Stream temporarily (30 days), for up to 1000 photos so it's not meant to be a permanent storage option.  The uploaded photos are also generally of lower quality than the originals on your device.  Also, only photos taken on your device after turning on Photo Stream are uploaded.  Finally, when you turn Photo Stream on, uploaded photos will be streamed back to your device in a Photo Stream album (so it actually uses some of your memory rather than saving it).  As for documents, only iWork documents are uploaded.
If you really want to free up storage on your device consider more permanent cloud storage services such as DropBox (which will handle photos and all documents).

  • Moved Library to extenal hard drive - can't drag songs to Ipod

I moved my library from my hard drive to an external drive. Everything seems to be working fine, but I can't drag songs to my Ipod. Suggestions?

    Update
I was able to solve my problem. If anyone comes across the issue I was trying to fix, I suggest trying to move the files from WITHIN lightroom.
Originally I had used my OS to move my picture folders onto an external hard drive, by just click and drag. Lightroom was not able to keep the editing I had done on those pictures after they were moved. I restored a backup on my Mac and put the folders back to their original location. Then within the lightroom program, I was able to move the picture folders (with their edits) onto my external hard drive.

  • Can't add songs to ipod touch...Please help?

Okay. I downloaded some new songs to my computer.  I added them to my ipod without any problems. Then I went to add them to my sister's ipod.  The first 5 songs went on just fine, but when I tried to add the next few songs, I said something along the lines of "Unable to sync, unknow error" and then a 4 or 5 digit number. It only said it once and the message doesn't pop up again when I try again so I have no idea what the numbers were.
Now whenever I drag songs to the ipod, the ipod is highlighted and the box with the plus sign shows, as if it is going to work. But when I release the song, nothing happens.  It doesn't sync the song, there's no error message, nothing.
I'm really reluctant to do a restore or anything similar because our music is spread out over about three different computers, and several months ago I had a virus on my computer so some of my music isn't on ANY computer.
I've already tried restarting both the ipod and the computer, and I tried plugging the ipod in

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Also reboot the computer.
    - Then try again and remember the complete error message
Could this have been the error number:
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync

  • Can't drag songs onto iPod in iTunes

I recently sent my corrupted iPod to Apple to be serviced. It got sent back and something was wrong with the hard drive in my computer I guess. Now I set up my iPod with my computer again but I can't put song on it. I drag the songs over to the iPod in the device list, but they stay gray with the circle and slash through it. I have no idea what's wrong and I would appreciate it if someone could help.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. The text will change from grey to dark and the padlock will disappear: Managing content manually on iPod
Remember that if you switch to manually updating that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

  • Can't delete songs from iPod Touch

My ipod touch is displaying songs that don't display in my playlist when I sync it with the computer, about 20 random songs that I don't even recall downloading....and it won't let me delete the individual songs from the ipod by sliding and clicking delete.  Any tips?

If they do not play on the iPod then
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Delete songs on iPod touch

How can I delete songs from iPod touch without plugging it in my comp and without deleting songs from my comp's iTunes list

The only way to remove songs is via the iTunes sync process, and you don't have to delete songs from your iTunes library to delete the songs from your iPod.
If you are syncing and don't want your entire iTunes music library transferred, make use of iTunes playlists. Choose selected playlists, artists, and genres under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes making your selections below followed by a sync. To remove a song from your iPod, delete it from the selected playlist in iTunes. Deleting a song from a playlist does not delete the song from your iTunes library. To add another song to your iPod, place the song in one of the existing iTunes playlists you have selected to be transferred to your iPod followed by a sync. And/or under the Summary tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, select sync only checked songs and video. Uncheck the song in your iTunes library that you want removed from your iPod followed by a sync.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • Delete songs from ipod touch

how do you delete songs from ipod touch if can help me that would be great.

planb77 is wrong. There is a way to delete songs, artists, albums, and playlists directly from your ipod touch. Simply click the song, artist, album, or playlist you want to delete but dont let go and slide your finger to your left (or right) and a red button will pop up to the right of the song, album, artist, or playlist title saying "Delete". Simply click it to delete it. To cancel and hide this button or option, simply slide right or left again or tap your finger anywhere on the screen away from the "delete" button.
BTW I am not absolutely sure if this will work on all previous versions of the Ipod Touch. I am running iOS 5. iOS 5.0.1 to be excact.

  • Can't Drag Songs to Change Order??

All the playlists I've ever created on my iPod I can just drag songs up and down to change the order they play in. I just created a couple of new playlists, and they won't let me change the order of the songs. I can't drag them up and down. I tried reorganizing by using different columns. Even though it resorts on the iTunes screen, when I eject the iPod, the playlist is still in the wrong order when I try to play them.
What did I do different on this one? Why won't the playlist order change?

You do the 'rearrainging" prior to transferring the playlist to "Devices."
