Can't drag-what a drag!

anyone have an idea why I can't drag anything since I've repaired permissions? Actually I've repaird it twice. Can't move anything on the desktop or drag stuff to trash or any dragging, beneath the water or above. Something was said about signing in as administrator which I have no clue how to do. I figure I'm already signed in when I get on line.

10.2 Jaguar had a known issue for many users of loss of drag and drop. Apple's suggestion was to restart (some users reported that even after several restarts that they still had no luck regaining drag and drop. When I had the problem it seemed to correct itself after a few restarts.

Try updating to 10.2.8 if you are not already at that point version.
If not there used to be a utility by IfThen software "Dragster" that would correct the problem by deleting alot of .plists and caches. Unfortunately it is no longer available but only as part of a bundle of non supported apps that they still offer I believe.
The interesting thing is you can check what it deleted at the VersionTracker site:

that may be of some help if all else fails. Use at your own risk!....as with all third party (and apple discussion suggestions for that matter...lol). Read carefully and understand exactly what you are doing before moving forward.

Not sure if this is a game or app or not...it shows nothing about it and explains nothing about it...but it is there on the demo video on the apple website for the add to upgrade to ios 5...it shows the user dragging threads and the little icon monster at the bottom of the screen catches them

I can't even click and drag it and clicking on the space between does nothing. The vertical scroll bar works fine but the horizontal scroll bar only works by using my mouse wheel tilt right. The horizontal scroll bar works in IE but not firefox.

Can`t left click and drag clip into timeline..Need advice

Can`t left click and drag clip into timeline, or drag clips around in timeline.
Can insert into timeline from Source Window but can't drag from source window.
Can cut and paste within timeline.
Restarting cs5 doesn`t help, but restarting computer solves problem for a while.
Tried many mouses, but that didn`t help.
Have no idea how I got the name OLD PRO, must have been drinking champagne years ago, because I am a bumbler par excellence!

In the Project Panel a left click highlights the asset but ignores the drag.
In the timeline, a left click highlights the panel and when I try to drag it gives a flicker but that's all.
I can cut and paste in the timeline.
A restart of CS5 has no effect. Restarting the computer solves the problem for a while.
Four different mouses--same problem.

OK--Think I finally discovered the issue. I'm using a trackball and keyboard setup from Euphonix that communicates with the Mac via Ethernet and TCP/IP. Aperture cannot deal with mouse strokes transmitted this way. If I switch to a USB mouse connected directly to the Mac, the brushes work normally. Still a disappointment since the Euphonix is my default keyboard/mouse and I don't really want to keep a separate USB mouse hooked up.....

What is Drag Lock in Magic Trackpad?

I could see in the video on the Track Pad preferences page some of what Drag Lock (a one finger option). However, I found when I enabled it, my ability to drag things such as windows or icons or pictures in an open window did not work even though I had One Finger Dragging checked (as well as Tap to Click).
If I unchecked Drag Lock, the dragging started working.

I am considering the purchase of a Magic Trackpad, however I may go with the Magic Mouse instead. The problem I'm having is with Drag and Drop across multiple monitors (which is what I have). There is simply not enough surface space on the Trackpad to get me over the the precise location where I want to drop my object.
Hopefully the mouse will work better. I'll probably poke around online a bit to see what others think.

Can shared actions reset with drag and drop?

I'm currently creating an interactive module where the learner will need to drag and drop grey squares to the correct area on the screen. If you see my picture below, I have a possible 20 grey squares needing to be dragged and dropped for each terminal that's on the lower right of the screen capture. I've created a shared action that shows different wires moving for each of the 20 grey squares moving from the upper image to the lower right image of the screen. This is painstakingly time consuming, but worth the effect. The problem I have stems from the drag and drop's "reset" button. The "reset" button helps set the grey squares that are my drag sources to their original positions, but it does not reset the shared actions that correspond to the movement of each grey square. Is there any way I can reset not only the drag sources, but also the shared actions associated with the drag sources? Any help is truly appreciated.

Macbook pro (10.6.4) -- DW CS5 -- can't copy code w/drag 'n drop

I just installed DW CS5 in my macbook pro (10.6.4) I find that I can't copy code by dragging and dropping, like I can on Dreamweaver CS4 on XP at work...
I read somewhere you can do by pressing ctrl key, but if I select code and ctrl key, then context menu comes up.. I'm very used to copying code/text with drag 'n drop, in many programs... I'm sure I must be missing something.. I assume this can be done in DW in the macbook pro..

The "playhead indicator" is a twofold tool. Click on the "clock" icon and it switches to Project Length:
You can click and drag on the time clock to increase the project length if you need to see what's going on beyond your Play Range.
The image below is an overview of parts. The Timeline view is opened to reveal layer timing.
The "mini timeline" (the bar under the canvas above the clock) shows the entire project length. Usually that's the same length as the default Play Range. Use the play head clock to add more time if you need to reveal longer media "tails". You will not change the Play Range by doing so (you'll have to do that "manually"). You can even Share/Export your project with respect to Play Range as opposed to Project Length (there's a drop down option for that upon export.)
If you're creating a template, FCPX only "sees" the play range.
It's not a cool one-click option... it's just the way it is in Motion.
