A simple task. I want to upgrade to OSX Lion. It has to be done through the app store (?) and all goes well up to the point I confirm the billing. After that I am sent back to the advertisement page for OSX Lion and at the top of the screen that annoying little whirly thing goes around and around and around. I must have tried twenty times now and have never got any further.
have I paid for this product twenty times?
what am I waiting to happen with this whirly thing?

You should only be charged for Lion one time. After that you can re download Lion for free and on all your authorized Macs for free using the same Apple ID., You can check Purchase History by clicking Account right side of the App Store window.
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available spare
Make sure there's enough free space on the statup disk. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
You can download Lion from the App Store or purchase the USB thumb drive available from the Apple online store > http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=os+x+lion+usb+thumb+drive
For problems downloading from the App Store, installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
If you hae anti virus software installed, disable that and try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security.
If you have an app called Little Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from downloading from the App Store.

You don't mention which operating system you have so it's difficult to provide an answer since the mac and Windows stores the files differently.
The other thing you can do is just re-download the apps from the iTunes Store. Just login to the iTunes Store on the other computer using the same Apple ID. On the right-hand side of the iTunes Store page you will see a 'Purchased' link. Clicking on that will take you to a page that will list your past purchases which you can re-download to the new computer.

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
To make the new computer the syncing computer you have to:
- Transfer iTunes purchases lIke I described above
- Make a backup of the iPod on that computer by connecting the iPod and then right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
- Restore the iPOd from that backup
She will have to continue to use your iTunes ID to update the apps prchased with your account. To use her account she will have to log into the computer with her account (iTunes>Store) and change the sign in on the iPod by going to Settings>Store.

Purchased "Moneypad app" missing in App Store. I've used that app for more than a year and all my financial records are in it. I have the backup but I need the app. How can a purchased app go missing??? Is that even legal??

I've used "Moneypad" app to record my financial transaction for over a year and I got an update today. After updating all the icons where misplaced and there were a lot of bugs in the app. The update said "Restore original app icon". The iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality.

You would have to open an account in the Canadian iTunes Store, which will require a Canadian payment method (Canada-issued credit card or prepaid iTunes card) and a valid Canadian mailing address.

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds
