Can't eccess ipod in any way!!
My ipod is recognized by the computer but it can't be eccessed. I shows as a cd rom at my computer and when i click on it, it says enter disk. It doesn't show in itunes and when i try to restore the factory settings the program still can't initialize it. I think the problem might be with the partition (if there is one) and i tried doing everything including reinstalling the ipod software and disk management. Please, somebody help!!

Well ... it's probably too late for the easy stuff, but go to the iPod Shuffle Support Page and read up on everything you can find on Formatting/Partitioning the Shuffle (and note, by the way, that it pretty clearly states not to do that).

Nope, it either needs to be plugged in or turned on with the power button.

So, I just went into my iPhone notes (iPhone 4 iOS 7.0.4), and found that all my notes had been deleted. I did recdently change the mail account I was using, could that be the issue? I'm very worried as I had some bank details and other personal information stored in these notes. Is there any way I can select a specific stored backup to restore from?
Well, in iTunes, if you had not changed to sync notes to Outlook, that would answer that question. I sync my notes to my Outlook and have never had an issue. The only thing you need to watch is your archive setting. If you have notes set to archive after a certain amount of time, you will find that after non-use on the iPhone, they can seem to disappear. They will just not sync back, but are kept in the archive of Outlook. They are never deleted unless you actually delete them.

So on a trip to the states, I bought an ITunes gift card (well 45 dollars worth), took it home ( a 16 hour drive) just to see that it's 'Valid only in the US ITunes store'. Is there any way to redeem my money, or get a US account (I'm from Canada), because I'm not to keen on wasting 45 freaking dollars.

Alerts volume is good but ringtone volume is so low I can't hear it ring-any way to fix this?
The volume for my alert sounds for things like text messages and new voicemails is great and I can hear it and adjust it like normal but when I go to the ringtone sound option the volume is so low I can't hear my phone when it rings unless I have the volume up really high but in doing that my alert sounds are super loud and not usable at that volume in any sitting private or public. I have my software up to date and have not damaged my phone or caused this problem myself in any way. Does anyone else have this issue and is there any way to fix it? It's very annoying and counter productive when I miss calls from clients or family. Thank you for any help!
Well this seems to be a little odd, mcookie!
We don't want you missing any important phone calls from family, friends or clients. If you go into settings, Sounds, is the volume up at a decent level? If you change your ringtones does the sound seem any different in volume? Another step I would try is; Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. Keep me posted on these steps.

I chose the wrong category in support before I came to the forum (I chose service request and troubleshooting instead of using ipod with itunes, and they had me run an ios diagnostic quick test. What exactly does that do if I'm not having problems? Can that harm the files or hardware on the ipod if I'm not having any problem with my ipod and don't want to troubleshoot anything on it?
I have no idea what iOS test you are talking about,. Please provided details.

Cannot get Dell laptop to recognize 30GB 5th gen. Ipod in any way!
I've followed all of the steps on both Apple and Dell's websites that could supposedly be the cause of this problem and have not had any success! I think it may be a matter of installing an outside driver, but I'm not sure I know what to do once the proper driver is installed. When i open the "add hardware wizard" The current status of the Ipod is "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)" Any help at all would be greatly appreciated-thanks in advance!

hmmmm. the iPod uses the standard Windows USB mass storage drivers, so we're not looking for drivers from an external source.
we had success with a code 28 recently using the techniques from this MarkJones post:

There is an option to have Session Manager automatically back up your current browsing session at browser shutdown, ask you if you want to save or never save. By default it backs up the ten previous browsing sessions and crashes (deleting older ones). This can be changed in the Startup and Shutdown options on the General Options page. Old sessions are only removed on browser shutdown. Restarting or recovering from a crash will not remove old sessions. Warning, the backup is made when the browser actually shut downs, so if you close the browser by "X"ing out of all the windows, only the last window will be saved. If you want to save the last session, use the File->Exit command or better yet manually save it or use the autosave feature. -
.SPC subtitle file - can it be used in any way?
I have a project for which I've been given the subtitles as a .SPC file which DVDSP does not recognise - can this be converted to a useable subtitle format?
If the subtitle data is plain text, you can use a combination of table-to-text and find-and-replace in word to get the data into the correct 3-column format. There is a sample subtitle text file in the DVDSP manual for reference.

Can not access 7940 in any way
Trying to enter programming of the 7940 but can not get into the phone, I have tried the soft reset,no luck. When pressing the Setings Key nothing happens. Nothing happens when pressing anykey for that mater.
Sounds like a firmware error.
Did you try to "install" Sip-firware on a SCCP-firmware ore vice versa in the past?
Because you said that that you are trying with your linksys home router i think you try to use the phone as SIP-Phone.
Install a tftp-Server on your PC, configure your DHCP-Server to send option 150 ( that is the IP-Adress of your TFTP-Server), put down SIP-Firmware files to your tftp-directory and try to reboot the phone by powering off and on.
Your TFTP-Server will log attempts made to it and you can determine wich file the phone is looking for.
If this does not help, there is also a possibillity to biuld a console cable and the access the phone to configure static IP-Adress so that you can reflash your phone.

I need help from some Apple people. I have an iPod Touch and I wanted to load it up with some fresh music but I currently don't have a PC. I found an app that would allow me to connect to my 2TB network drive directly and I was able to transfer a bunch of music files to the iPod. Unfortunately, these new files do not show under the Music app and I can't seem to find any way to convince the iPod that they are music. I can play them through the file manager only. Android doesn't have this problem, any music I put on my phone is recognized as music and can be played through any of the music apps. Am I missing something or is Apple to inflexible to handle this?
You can't. The only way to get songs in the Music app is to sync from a computer or to download from iTunes.

Thank You!I'm not having any problem that I can see, I was just curious as to if it can harm my ipod or any files on it if I have it connected to my computer while I'm updating to a new version of itunes. It ejected a few times and then again when I had to restart my computer. It seems to be working fine I was just wondering if it can affect affect the ipod at all if I have it connected while updating to a new version of itunes.
And also if running ios diagnostics from support can do anything if I wasn't having trouble. I wasn't able to talk to anyone because I'm out of warranty for tech support for that device. -

Okay here's what I did...
I got a new Mac Mini from my parents for Christmas, but before my dad could hook it up, I used my brothers computer to put music on my iPod Nano, they use windows though. So now that my computer is hooked up I can't seem to reset my iPod in any way so that I can use my computer to put music and everything on it...I think I have tried everything and I really don't know what else to do. If anyone knows what I can do to help my situation that would be great!!!

Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac."
You can also convert an iPod formatted for the Mac into an iPod formatted for Windows by connecting the Mac-formatted iPod to a Windows PC, running the Windows iPod Updater Software and clicking "restore". It is also worth noting that Apple provides no support for an iPod that has been reformatted for a platform other than the one originally intended.
