Can't edit a draft in mail when it's stored on IMAP Server

There's two kinds of draft folders in Mail: one's called "Local", the other is in the Folder that mirrors my IMAP Account.
When I click on a draft mail in the latter one, it opens, but I cannot edit it. Anyway to change that?
Otherwise I'm not able to keep my draft mails synchronized

I know this doesn't answer your question, exactly, but Mail has always had problems with drafts folder store on IMAP server, at least with Gmail accounts.
When writing a new mail message, for example, Mail.app starts saving versions of it to the IMAP server's drafts folder every couple of minutes. Next thing you know you've got like 17 versions in the drafts folder, and they'll usually get cleared out when you send the message off, but then it moves those drafts to the IMAP server's trash folder. It's kind of insane. And that behavior has persisted through many versions of Mail.app.

I'm right with you, Mariah. This is exactly my problem, too! Is there a way when viewing message (using the preview window) with the message list sorted in descending date order (most recent on top) and let's say you are view a message in the middle of the list, that when you delete that message the next oldest (further down on the list) message is what's previewed??

Can't figure out how to edit a Draft e-mail message--simple, right? Wrong.

OK, sorry if this is too basic and belongs in the Getting Started folder, but I couldn't find the problem here or in that location.
I thought I could figure out how to edit a message in the Drafts folder. I tried; it didn't work. I looked online, found a tutorial, which showed that I was indeed trying to do the right thing the right way. So why doesn't it work????
Here's what happens.
I start an e-mail message, click Cancel, then save as a Draft. That works fine. But then...
From the Home screen, I tap Mail.
On the Mailboxes screen, I tap Drafts (there's a number on the right -- 2 -- which disagrees with the number of messages actually seen -- 1 -- at the next step; I don't know if that's an important detail or not).
I see the draft message I want to edit. I tap it.
I tap Edit. According to the tutorial, the message is supposed to open up for me to edit further. But it doesn't. Instead...
The two lines representing the message (Recipient and first few words) move a bit to the right, and the Edit button changes to Cancel.
A dull red Delete button and a blue-gray Move button show up at the bottom. But the first line of the draft message, which has (accurately) shown up under the boldface "(No Recipient)" line, stays where it is -- showing as part of an entry in the list but not as something I can edit. I don't see the complete message, and I can't edit anything, even though I think I have just entered an Edit mode.
I click those two lines, and a red checkmark appears on the left, and the dull buttons at the bottom become brighter red and brighter blue-gray.
Tapping, double-tapping, tap-and-holding... all just toggle that checkmark on and off.
THIS MUST BE REALLY SIMPLE... HOW DO I EDIT THE TEXT OF THE DRAFT MESSAGE????

Zero replies??? Wow, I guess this is a really uncommon problem.
Well, the Genius Bar fixed the problem. They confirmed that it WAS real, and they couldn't figure out how it had gotten that way. There must have been some internal list in an inconsistent state... or something.
The fix was to deactivate my MobileMe account on my iPhone -- just wipe it out. Then they re-activated it. Everything re-synched and the problem was gone.

To edit your site from one of your backed up versions, place the Domain file in User>Library>Application Support>iWeb & then launch iWeb. Update & publish.

Mac Mail doesn't sync changes to imap server, anyway to change this ?

It appears that mac mail does not sync any changes to the mailbox back to the imap server until mac mail quits. This is a drag, since I almost never quit mac mail and I like to see my changes reflected properly on my iphone/ipad and good old fashioned text based email. Is there anyway to tell Mac Mail to update the server on all changes (so delete the message when I delete it, or at least mark it deleted, etc..)

I have experienced the same problem for a long time and it drives me nuts.
However, when I upgraded to 10.6.5, things seemed to get a lot better, although I still have occasional problems with this. So, if you haven't yet upgraded, I'd suggest doing so.

Drafts crash Mail when re-editing

I've recently saved a email to be sent at a later date.
When I tried to edit it (by selecting it in the draft mailbox and double-clicking it) Mail locks up and I have't to force quit.
I've seen a similar advise for a POP account, but mine is a .Mac account.
I don't want to mess things up if the solution is differant.

Disk indeed needed minor repair:-
Volume Bit Map error
Invalid Volume Free Block Count
This has been fixed.
After trashing the Drafts(accountname).mbox folder I launched Mail and the messages were still there. So I deleated them from Mail, quit, "secure trash"ed folder again. Launched Mail. Got an empty Drafts mailbox.
So I created a test draft.
After trying to open it again it hung for a bit (30 sec), but it did open.
So I added some more text, saved as a draft, opened it again and boom it was there, instant! So I repeated, again, again, again.....it works!
I've managed to send the re-edited message as I wanted.

Can't send saved draft in Mail

I saved a draft Mail. When I open it to work on it the Cancel and Send buttons are not active and I can't get out of the draft. I have to turn off my iPad and go back into Mail to send the draft or delete it. How do I fix this?

Have you tested bypassing the router connecting direct to the modem?
If not, you need to do so and if the same does not occur when connected direct to the modem, this indicates a problem with the router and you need to check the router manufacturer's website for an available firmware update for the router model targeted at OS X users.
Or try resetting the router and the modem first if you haven't already done so.
Turn off your Mac first. Turn off or unplug the router and then do the same with the modem. Wait 5 minutes. Plug the modem back in allowing it to completely reset and then do the same with the router. Turn on your Mac.

Can't edit rules in Apple Mail.

For some strange reason if I try to add a new e-mail address editing a rule, well, everything seems to be ok, until I click "Apply" and nothing happens.

So far, in my case, no need to delete old rules, just to wait the new ones to be effective, and the two added were working ok.
Sometimes an interesting action before delete rules is to check if something change deleting Apple Mail preferences, or if you prefer just putting the preferences aside for a while.

Had no problems before with Firefox 4
With Internet Explorer I have no such problems but i prefer to use Firefox!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Next Run the three fixes below in order as needed (make a temporary backup copy of the library before starting):
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open Photo window
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.

These are run time messages and you can change it by the below steps:
If you want to modify specific labels that you can't modify through Captivate, you can do this with the file strings.txt, that is located in Adobe Captivate instalation folder >en_US
1. Open file
2. Modify whatever label you want
3. Save.
4. Rename to strings.zdct
5. Replace original strings.zdct file
6. Restart Captivate
I suggest you backup original strings.txt and strings.zdct files - just in case.

I don't have the problem with internet explorer.

Do you have javascript enabled? Some cookie or javascript related extension(s) installed? Those may be causing the issue...

IPhone Mail App cannot connect with gmail iMap server

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.
So I changed my gmail password.
No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)
Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too)
BUT
I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.
Any suggestions before I call Apple for help?

I think so.
Actually I think I need to get the App Password for Mail on my phone. It generates the app password and I enter it into the password in the gmail setup for mail.
The problem is that when I hit next on that page, I get the message:
"my name" is already added" and I cannot proceed.
Before doing this setup I deleted my gmail account by tapping the email address and hitting delete in the Mail, Contact and Calendars setup..
but, there is something hiding in my iPhone that remembers my old gmail password (I guess) and doesn't let me proceed.
If I enter my gmail iChain password I get the same thing.
If i do this in airplane mode (no connection to google) i also get the same.
I talked to an apple care person who had me reset all my settings... still the same thing.
I am trying to avoid a gull reset of the iPhone, but that may be in the cards.
Going to go to the apple store and ask there, but i am not hopeful.

Mail copying to Sent Messages on IMAP server

i noticed that with 10.5.4 that the message appears to be sent to the Sent Messages folder, but never seems to make it.
can anyone let me know if there have been any changes on this front (iMail server).

I have been having this problem intermittently, with the same error messages. Some messages are sent and stored properly, others are sent but not saved, and I cannot find a pattern. The only condition that occurred to me is that it generally happened within the first few messages I sent after waking the Mac from sleep, reconnecting to my wireless network and syncing Mail (which it does automatically). None of the messages were large at all (~40 KB, I'd say) but some had attachments such as pictures (~100 KB). All of the recipients were in my Address Book.
I guess that a less-than-ideal workaround is to 'automatically cc/bcc myself', activated in Preferences > Composing, and subsequently delete the messages if they are in the Sent folder. (Admittedly a real pain for large volume of messages, but at least you have a copy of the messages.)

I can look at one email in hotmail. But when I try to open/read another, nothing happens. If I close and open firefox I can again read only one e-mail.

I can only look at one e-mail when I open Firefox. In order to read the next e-mail I have to close and open firefox again. This happened with the new version 4.0. I was happy with firefox before, but I am very unhappy now. The new download also said it disabled my hpweb something and something else (I can't remember what it is, but it is listed somewhere in firefox help area.

Signatue dissapears in Mail when adding attachments

HI, when adding a signature in Mail, and add attachment, the receiver can not see the signature anymore. It seems that the signature is lost somehow. Also, when adding the signature at the last stage the same happens. When I send a Mail without an attachment, the signature is still visible.
Please help me how I can keep the signature in my mail when adding an attachment.

Hello and welcome to the Discussions.
Click on Edit/Attachments and choose Always Insert Attachment at end of message, which should result in the Signature being above the attachments.
Let me guess -- these recipients are using Outlook or Outlook Express?
