Can't edit captions

I have a form that was created by printing an excel spreadsheet to PDF and then we are editing in Livecycle ES - the form fields have been added. However, we can't edit the captions for a radio button group and options like insert Text are grayed out in the menu. Is there just something weird about this because of the way it was created??

Sorry, I did misunderstand the issue. When you import a PDF (created from Word, Excel or any other application) you are presented with a dialog that gives you two options... "Create an Interactive Form with fixed pages" or "Create an Interactive Form with a flowable layout". If you select the "fixed pages" option, a form is created where all boilerplate is representated as an image and cannot be edited, furthermore, only "interactive" form objects can be added to the form, such as fields, radio buttons, list boxes etc. As you have noticed, the "non-interactive" objects such as "static text", and "rectangles"are disabled. In addition, the non-interactive properties such as captions (static text) are also diabled. LC Designer is bahaving as intended, it is meant to give the form designer a very accurate copy of the original document layout.
If you import a PDF and select the "Create an Interactive Form with a flowable layout", the "boilerplate" from the original PDF is editable, and the non-interactive form ojects and obect properties (captions etc.) will be available.

Hello - I find the small windows in iPhoto to be a bit "clunky" to do a bunch of meta-tagging. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how to best do this? Where I can, I do batch changes. If I upload photos to mobilme galleries - can you edit this data there and have it sync back?

You mean adding metadata? Keywords can be added in the Info Window or using the Keyword Manager window, or with Quick Groups.
Titles and Descriptions (as iPhoto calls Captions) can be added via the Info Window or by the Batch Change command, if you’re working in batches.
You can also add titles and keyword simply by editing them directly under the image in Browse mode.
Those, and my suggestions above, are about your options.

can you make captions for a slideshow? otherwise how can i rename the photo so that i can select view titles in the slideshow and use it as a caption?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can't make captions with iPhoto. You can edit the title of a photo by selecting it and then going to the Info window at the bottom of the Source pane, the "i" button, clicking on the title field and enter what text you'd like.
If you plan on using the slideshow in iDVD then those titles will not show as they will be lost in the "overscan" area that is common to all movies played on TV. You can create the slideshow in iMovie and have lots of control over titles and subtitles and greater control of the audio track, cut, fade in/out, etc.

Batch placing images with filename as an editable caption?

Howdy! Does anyone know if there is an easy way to place about 300 screenshots into ID CC on a multi-page document (obviously) AND capture each filename associated with the image as a text frame above it (or close to it)? I named my files as reminders for the copy I need to write to describe the screenshot and - boy - would this help a lot to avoid back and forth to refer to file names. I need to edit the copy associated with each image, which is why I need the text (filename) in a text frame. The file names are long. I know - not an ideal way to name files, but I had to do screenshots on the fly on someone else's computer and it's what popped into my head at the time. Thank you kindly!

You're in luck. You can use the Object > Captions > Caption Setup to pick Name as the metadata. Then when you place the file turn on Import Options and check Create Static Captions.
You also can create dynamic captions which pull other metadata from the images but it doesn't sound like that's what you need.

The captions are indeed in iPhoto replacing the scan number under the photo.
I see, you want to save the name of the image version - both Aperture and iPhoto allow you to create multiple edited versions of the same original image file and in iPhoto you are seeing the name of the image version belbow the thumbnail of the image, if you change the title n the Info panel.
But they are not saved with the photos when burned to disc,apparently (correct me if I am werong).
I don't know, which iPhoto version you are currently using. When you export photos (in iPhoto '11) or image versions (in Aperture 3) as files to a folder on the disk, you can use the version name/Title as the filename. Both applications let you chose, how the exported file will be called. In iPhoto use the following settings, when exporting your images, to use the title as the filename:
Select the images in the Browser.
Use "File > Export"
Set the "Kind" to "Original" or "Current", depending on if you want to export the original or the edited version,
And then pick a format for the filename. To use the title/verson name as the filname instead of the scan number, set "File Name" to "Use Title".

Can't edit objects on the stage

Hi,
I'm stumped helping my colleague on the issue below so I'm logging this question.
Issue: My colleague is trying to edit a slide but can't edit any of the objects on the stage. However, it works fine when I open the same project on my machine. Is there a setting on her machine that's causing the issue?
In the screenshot below, check out Slide 2 (selected) notice how:
in the thumbnail there are multiple objects (white image on the left, blue text caption in the center) on the slide.
in the timeline multiple objects are available and selectable. All are set to be visible (the little "eye" isn't switched to off).
when you look at the stage, the only things that we see are the background and a single button.
The objects also appear fine in Preview.
On the stage, can "phatomly" select objects, but she can't change the characteristics of them (e.g., change text in a text caption, resize object, move object).

This project was initially created in an older Captivate version (4.0 or 5.0) and is now being edited/updated.
Last week, my colleague was trying to edit the same project (using v5.0). When she clicked play on the timeline, her audio wouldn't play. When she watched the Preview or tried to edit the audio, the audio would play just fine. Also, on my machine (running v5.5) it worked fine. This prompted me to suggest that she update to v5.5. Alas, it seems this fixed the audio issue, only to create this video issue.

Notice how the Text Caption is selected in the timeline and it's properties are visible on the right. Yet the item itself is nowhere to be seen on the stage. Also, now it seems to have disappeared from the thumbnail.

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
Do cleanup.

How can I edit an html file in Firefox using View Source?

I have created an html webpage and saved it to my pc. I can't edit the html file in firefox when I right click on the page and select "View Source". I can view the code but I can't edit it. I can do this in IE9.
I thought I was able to do this before in Firefox.
Did my settings change somewhere that I can no longer do this?
Do I have to have something checked in the Web Developer extensions for it to work?
I'm using Firefox 24.0

The View Source window in Firefox cannot be used to change computer codes. Nor can the Web Developer tools.

Not sure what you mean by "photo screen?" Do you mean your Photo Stream?
In the Photos app there are several ways to view the photos. Tap on Albums. Your Photo Stream is one Album but there may be others including the Camera Roll, albums made on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll, and albums of photos copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer.
To remove albums from the Camera Roll, tap on the Camera Roll album to see the small thumbnails of the photos there. Tap on Select, tap on the photos to delete, then tap on the trashcan. The photos will then be moved to another album called Recently Deleted. They remain there for 30 days to allow you time to reconsider whether you really want to delete them or not. After 30 days they will automatically be deleted from your iPhone. But if you are sure you want the photos deleted from your iPhone delete them again from the Recently Deleted album.
Albums created on the iPad with photos from the Camera Roll can be deleted in the same way.
To delete albums copied to your iPhone by syncing with your computer running iTunes are deleted by doing another sync. But before you click on Sync deselect the albums in iTunes. Then when you click on Apply or Sync the albums will be removed from your iPhone but they will remain on your computer.

I just recently got a new laptop and transfered everything over and it seemed to be ok but now having issues playing videos and can't edit any of my song info in music files

I just got a new laptop so I had to transfer everything over and I thought everything would be ok but I'm having some strange issues especially with my purchased tv shows, movies, and music videos. They just wont play. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a tv show will play but if I stop it and try again it wont. If I open in Quicktime it works fine. The computer is authorized so that shouldnt be it especially if it plays in QT and like I said sometimes I'll get lucky and one will play. Now the other thing I just noticed is all my music files play fine but when opening and looking at the info of the music file I can't edit anything for example song title or artist the area seems shaded and won't let me do any editing. So I'm having those 2 issues. Video files not playing ones that I have purchased. movies, tv shows and music videos. Also like I said if I just sit there and click one after another I may get lucky and one will play but if I stop it and try again it will not play again. And I can't seem to edit any music file which play fine. I have a new Dell with windows 7 and I have never had this happen any help would be great. The computer is authorized for i tunes so it cant be that.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

I can't edit text on a pdf file in adobe acrobat

I need to edit the text on the pdf file but I can't and this message keeps showing up: " This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
There are no security on this file. The only thing that is not allowed is to create templates. When I check the document properties description, on the PDF producer it says adobe distiller 7.0.5 (windows)
I downloaded the adobe livecycle designer but I couldn't edit the text there either... When I open the file it says the text is not downloaded so it replaced it with another text, I clicked ok but then the text didn't change, This message showed up:

Ok, what we can tell you is that if this is a LiveCycle form (and we can be pretty sure it is), that you are absolutely right. Acrobat can fill it, and nothing else. These are a very special kind of PDF, where all the text is in a special XML format that Acrobat can only show, not edit.
So, you are on the right track: if it can be edited, you need LiveCycle Designer. Unfortunately, we don't know much about it in this forum, so please try posting here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es

Can I Edit SD and HDV footage at the same time in CS4?

I have a Sony PD 150 camcorder and I'm looking at buying a Sony HDR-HC# HDV 1080i camcorder to use as a second camera on video shoots. Can I edit footage from both cameras on the same timeline in CS4? I'm using a PC, running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002 with an Intel (R) Pentium (R) 2.80 GB processor with 2.5 GB of RAM. I have a Windows XP 2005 with 3.4GHz with 4GB of ram and it cant handle HDV for HD video.
I have a Sony HVR Z1U and use the in camera down-rez and edit in SD just fine.
Like said before you really need a new computer to edit the HDV but if your going to DVD then your only using SD anyway.
But to answer you question you can mix formats with CS4.
