Can't Edit Clips in Adobe Audition

So now I suddenly can't use one of my favorite features of Premiere - editing a clip in Adobe Audition.
I just upgraded to CS6 Master Collection.  When I right-click on an audio clip in Premiere, "Edit with Adobe Audition" is grayed out.  When I click the audio clip and select Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition, it goes through all the preparation, but Audition doesn't launch.
Bug?  Is there something I need to switch on somewhere?  Dynammic Link Media is selected, so I'm at a loss right now.
Any suggestions?

look at the file extension of the audio file...
if you brought the clip into Premier, for example as an mp4, or maybe brought in a wav, or mp3 file, then you must change the default program that opens these extensions to Audition.
Just experience the same problem, removed Premier, reinstalled, same issue.
Opened previous project that had mp4 on timeline....
went to the file explorer and found and mp4 file, right click on file, open with, choose default program, change the default program to Audition....
I have changed the default program for all audio files now to be audition.
Keep in mind that if you have mp3 files that you like to listen to while you work, they will now no longer open in media player, or WinAmp by default.
You will now see that if you have unlinked the audio from the video clip, that when you right click on the audio file in the timeline, and choose edit original, it will now open in Audition....
...enjoy!!

  • "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in CS6.

In Adobe Premiere CS6, "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" is greyed out.  How can I change that?  I have Adobe Audition CS6 installed as well.  I have Production Premium CS6.

    I've solved it.
    Here's what I did:
    1) Put in my Adobe CS6 Production Premium install discs and re-installed the programs that I had chosen.  All of them (except for the 32-bit versions of software that was available in 64-bit).
    2) Let all of the programs finish the install.  I believe that Premiere needs Audition to be installed first, so that it recognizes that it's there, and that's a natural progression when installing all of Production Premium.
    3) That's it.  I opened Premiere, and found that it could connect with Audition.

  • CS6 - Edit Clip in Adobe Audition Grayed Out

I used to own the CS5.5 Master Collection Suite, and recently upgraded to CS6. Tonight, for the first time, I am using the new Premiere Pro CS6. Besides a few quirks and buginess, one frustrating issue is that the "Edit in Adobe Audition" option is grayed out when I right-click on any audio file placed in my timeline.
In fact, this option is grayed out even in the Edit menu on the top toolbar, and also for audio files over in my Bins list.
I have verified that Audition CS6 is installed and working.
Could really use some help so that I can edit these audio files in Audition directly from the timeline.

Bug confirmed.  This was reported in an earlier thread.  Advice given was to uninstall and try again. I notice too that in Preferences when looking at how your RAM is spread over the available Adobe programs, Audition doesn't appear.
I hoped the recent update would fix this bug - but, sadly it didn't.

  • Why doesn't Audition open when I click 'Edit Clip in Adobe Audition' in Premiere Pro CC2014?

I have been reading up on this issue and it seems like I am not the only one that this has happened to since Adobe released CC2014. The button is NOT greyed-out, just doesn't function the way it did in the original CC version; it creates an extracted file but does not send it to open with Audition and I have to manually locate the file and open it in order to edit the file.
I have already made sure that the .sesx file is set to use Adobe Audition by default but did not resolve it. Please let me know if you have a fix for this. Thanks!

    Hi OB,
    Menu > Pages > Preferences > General
Times New Roman is one of my Custom Templates in Template Chooser.
Those settings give me that template when I launch Pages 5, also with Menu > File > New (command n).
Anything different about your set up?
    Regards,
    Ian.
Edit: BTW, with those preferences, New From Template Chooser no longer shows under the File Menu. Hold down the option key to see it. Ian.

  • Premiere will not open clip in Adobe Audition

Working on some  footage and I've noticed that Premiere will not allow me to open the clips in Adobe Audition...the menu selection is greyed out.
    See below...
It doesn't matter what the footage is or what camera its from.
    Any guesses?

    Hi avanishdivya,
I checked all the things you suggested, and all of them are greyed out, except when going to the Edit menu, there is an option to edit the Squence in Audition...not the Clip.
    See below:
    System info:
    Windows 7 Ultimate sp1
Adobe CC Suite all up to date.
    i7-2600K
    32gb RAM
    512 SSD
    1TB HDD x5
    GTX470
Everything seemed to work fine in CS6, haven't installed any new software/plugins etc.

In this tutorial, Sr. Worldwide Evangelist Jason Levine walks you through the techniques for using the Spectral Frequency Display in the Adobe Audition for Mac beta. Learn about when to use subtractive vs. spectral decay-based noise reduction methods, remove hiss & hum visually, and even remove individual sounds using familiar Adobe Photoshop tools like the Marquee, Lasso and Spot Healing Brush.

  • Quality issue with importing edited audio from Adobe Audition CS6 to Articulate 09

I have edited an audio file using Adobe Audition CS6 and the playback sounds fine. I then import the edited file into Articulate'09 and the audio sounds horrible, very tinny and not useable. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? I have tried saving the audio files as mp3 and wav to see if that would help and it did not make a difference.

I checked - it certainly supports both formats, but you'd have to be a lot more specific about what's wrong, because 'sounds horrible' doesn't convey anything meaningful at all, I'm afraid. And we have no idea of the format you are using - it's very possible that if it's being resampled on the way in by the operating system. If that's the case you have to find out specifically what formats (in terms of bit depth and sample rate) that this software actually supports.
Bottom line is that I'm afraid that this isn't very likely to be an Audition problem at all - you may get a more detailed and meaningful response from Articulate themselves.

  • Audio Clipping on Adobe Audition

    Hello my dear friends,
Whenever I record voice on my Adobe Audition, the voice clips. Could I have some kind of deformed software, or may it be because I don't have enough space. I'm attaching an audio file that I just recorded of me singing with clipping ALL over it. It's the Canadian Anthem - O CANADA.

    Hello,
Sound Card: Just an onboard sound card, I didn't buy a good one.
Microphone: Very cheap one doesn't even have a brand name on it. The thing is I recorded with this mic before on a different program and it didn't clip. The mic actually doesn't record that bad.
    Thanks!

  • Can't edit clips to use as cutaways -- help!

    Hi,
I think I've hit a wall and what I want to do isn't possible.
I created a movie in Keynote and imported it into IM 09 to use as a cutaway. The problem is that one segment -- in the middle of it -- is three seconds too long. I need to get those three seconds out.
So, I split the clip in two and cut it down in the events section...but I can't rejoin those two segments now. "Join clip" is grayed out.
If I take the clip into the project area and split it there, I still can't join the two segments after the edit. Even if I could, I found that you can't activate the cutaway feature by dragging a clip that's already in the project area. Apparently, for cutaway to work, the clip has to be coming from the event pane.
I can't figure a workaround. If anybody has the answer to this, please let me know.
    Thanks!

.. t I'm not sure where this "orange" line comes in.
just to mention: vers 8.0.3 (aka 'iM09') in use here, 'Advanced' options checked..
when you add some part of a clip in a Project, a small orange line in the Clip/Event indicates that..
in my workflow, this gives orientation, what part is in use, and from where I do have to 'ignore' 3sec, 'til I select the next xx secs from that clip (Event) to add it to the project..

  • Is there a way to save a file in indesign that can be edited outside of adobe?

I am creating a menu for a local pub landlord and he has requested that the menu be easily editable, by him, as to not keep asking me for any slight changes.
Is there any file format that can be easily edited outside of indesign. I know there is the Acrobat Pro which would edit a PDF and could solve this problem, but he is unwilling to spend money on any software.
I am designing the menu in indesign with text and images.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • USB MIDI interface on Cool Edit Pro v2  (Adobe Audition)  ARGGHHH!  Help needed....

Before I shell out on a Roland MIDI interface midi cable for my my home studio can anyone tell me if it will work?  I had a working setup for years with an HP Pavilion Win XP and Creative Audigy Platinum Ex sound card using the Audigy external breakout box for the midi in/out.  Very old but worked fine with my (legit) Cool Edit Pro.  The old PC gave up the ghost so I bought a new ASUS one i5 Intel CPU with a SSD for the OS Apps as well as 1Tb HDD  for storage.
I installed Win 7 as XP is not supported anymore.
THEN I bought a  PCIe to PCI interface (the old Audigy card being standard PCI)
THEN I found that the new Win 7 drivers for the Audigy do not support the  'daughter board' and breakout box so the MIDI interface does not work..
Easy way round that ( I thought ), I will install XP and dual boot the new PC.
THEN I found that the EUFI is incompatible with XP.
THEN I found a way to install XP except that most of the drivers don't work and the XP runs like a dog. You can either have EUFI SATA setup correctl and see the SSD or have XP and the SSD not recognised.
    by the way
The sound card is native on the MB Hi-def surround so Ian probably use that.
Can anyone tell me if I install a Roland Midi In Out USB cable between my MIDI control keyboard Synth  will the Cool Edit Pro recognise it in the Midi device configuration and allow me to input receive MIDI data in the Program?.   I'm losing the 'will to live right' now having already acknowledged that my SB is now a piece of  useless junk.  Cool Edit seems to install and run fine on Win 7 by the way apart from this MIDI problem.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for that and the quick reply.  I suppose shelling out another £40 isn’t going to make a lot of difference having blown £70+ on a PCIe to PCI convertor which is a bit pointless now and especially if it will save me the cost of updating the soundcard and recording software.  I tend to use an external mixer (Tascam) to input and monitor from the PC software.  I suspect , like you, it should work once I de-install the Audigy HW stuff as although the soundcard plays the CEP demo  the device config  window only ‘sees’ that and not the onboard sound hardware.  Fun times ahead.
    Thanks again
    T Tyke

  • Pr Sequence sent to AME drops whole tracks or clips touched by Edit in Adobe Audition

On an increasingly frequent basis in CS5.5 I have observed sequences sent from Pr to AME failing to include certain replaced audio clips (from Edit Clip in Adobe Audition) or several whole tracks (2 & 3).  In the most recent example the same sequence was sent to AME and duplicated three times producing four formats none of which contained tracks 2 & 3.  Once discovered [days and restarts later] the offending prproj was reopened, the unchangeed sequence was sent back through AME, and now the output includes the missing track 2 & 3.
What can cause clips or whole tracks to be missing from the output in one export but included in another with no other changes?  Shouldn't AME compalin if it was told to encode a resource that a Pr Sequence referred to that AME can't find?
The audio clips on track 2 & 3 in this recent even were likely pasted into the Pr Sequence after having been copied from a another file's sequence; Volume levels would have been previewed and adjusted exensively in the target sequence they were pasted into, and [usually] a save executed before the Export/Media was called.

  • Problem Premiere CC not sending audio file to Adobe Audition

    Hello,
I have an audio clip in Premiere Pro CC that I am attempting to send to Audition via dynamic link with "Edit Clip In Adobe Audition."  I have done this in the past but not since I have upgrade all my versions from the CS6 version to the CC 2014 versions.  Previously it worked without incident.  Here is what happens now.
    1.  I right click the audio track (Mono-005.wav) in the premiere pro cc timeline.
    2.  I select "Edict Clip in Adobe Audition.
    3.  In Premiere Pro CC a new audio track is generated (MONO-005 Audio Extracted.wav) on the timeline - replacing the previous track (MONO-005.wav) and in my Premiere Pro CC media bin BUT it never opens up in Adobe Audition....the program (Adobe Audition) never even attempts to open up.
I was getting the Audition error "primary temp volume cannot be found" so I went in to Audition and changed the Media & Disk Cache file location and now I can open up the Adobe Audition program just fine if I am clicking it directly to open.  However, whenever I attempt to bring an audio file from premiere with dynamic link (as referenced above) Audition does not even attempt to open.
    Software
    Adobe Audition Build 7.2.0.52
Adobe Premiere Pro CC Build 8.1.0 (81)
    Computer
    Processor - Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPU   X5560 @ 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz (2 processors)
RAM 48 GB (currently 40 GB usable)
    64 bit operating system
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Had this issue before.  Check the file associations to see if Audition CC 2014 is set as the default editing program to open sesx files, etc.
You might want to make sure that all the other apps are set as well.  I have three versions of the software on my machine, and I had to do this to ensure the latest version was set as the default app for the appropriate file types to make dynamic linking work.
