Can't edit html snippet

I have numerous html snippets that work fine. However I can't edit them any more. When I click on the snippet in iWeb I used to get a window with the snippet code to edit. That doesn't happen any more. Same thing for new html snippets: No edit window to place code in. Don't know when it stopped working since I haven't tried editing snippets for several months.
Thanks for your help - Volker

Thanks. That was helpful. Deleting preferences or repairing permissions didn't help. Reinstalling did the trick. FYI: You can install iWeb straight from disk individually without Pacifist.
After all of that I found out what had caused the problem in the first place: I had moved the iWeb application into a sub folder of the Applications directory. That seems to be breaking this feature only. Any thoughts on moving applications? Is there a best practice not to?

  • Can't edit HTML snippets

    Hello there,
This is around the third time I ask about this issue. I installed Leopard with iLife '08, and later (after I started having the problem) installed iLife '09.
What happens is, when I try to add an HTML snippet, I am presented with a blank box with a white outline, which I cannot alter in any way, save for moving and resizing it. Also, I cannot edit the HTML snippets I added before I had this problem. And finally, the dynamic preview of my blog merely displays the same blank box I described above. This happens in both iWeb '08 and iWeb '09.
The problem arose after I started poking around in folders such as /Library, /System/Library, and /Users/Sean/Library (I'm not exactly sure, as this was around four months ago). The thing is, I opened iWeb again nearly a week after, so I'm not completely certain there is a correlation, although I consider this the most likely culprit.
Please don't tell me to edit or delete .plist files, as this has no effect. Nor does creating a new /Users/Sean/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain work (which, oddly enough, I thought did, but it was after a Leopard reinstall).
I would really appreciate if you speculated on which file I need to restore (try adding an HTML snippet in a working iWeb, while running Activity Monitor, and browsing the files it uses?), and I can restore it using Pacifist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743) and my Leopard install DVD. By the way, is it safe to do this, now that I have iWeb '09 installed? I would imagine, since upgrading didn't fix the issue, but I can't be certain...
Thank you so much for putting up with this,
    SeanDaBomb

Try Troubleshooting 101: delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, repair disk permissions, reboot and try again.
If that doesn't help log into another account on your Mac, open iWeb, create a test site and see if you can use the snippets there as intended. If not then a reinstall of iWeb seems warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
If the snippets are able to be used correctly in the other account then there's something in your account that is amiss. Post back with the results.

  • Can't edit .html file in dreamweaver?

Why can't I edit .html file in Dreamweaver CS 5.5 when it is not attached to a template?
I have always been able to edit it every other time I have opened the file (since I built the site over two years ago).
Now each time I try to edit it in Design mode, no matter where I click in the file the whole page gets a dark grey overlay and I can't get a curser.
I am still able to edit the code directly but I do not want to be restricted.
The last thing I did the last time I opened the file was paste Google Analytics code in just before the </head> tag. I did this to all the files on the site but this is the only one that isn't working. I have tried taking out this code but it makes no difference.
I am using a 6 month old Macbook pro.
    Can anyone help me?

In your stylesheet you have -
    .container {    overflow:hidden; width: 100%;}
    .container2 {   overflow:hidden; width: 646px; margin:0 0 10px 0}
Try right clicking on the page in Design view and then selecting Element view > Full and see if that helps.

  • Plain Text will not display correctly, how can i edit html?

    Hello,
my beloved MacBook Pro has been a godsend, however i have found that it is incapable of displaying Plain Text, in Text Edit, Safari (View Source), or Dreamweaver's code view. Thus, i am finding it impossible to view or edit html.
the way it displays is either all jumbled and overlapping, or spread out over impossible distances. sadly i cannot post a picture.
we also have a G3 and a G4 in the house, both running 10.3, and they also have the same issue with plain text.
I have not found any topic on this, here or in google. can someone please help?
    thanks,
    Tobias

Tom, very kindly, has got me most of the way to a happy ending.
one or another font file or cache was causing the problem. i removed all fonts from Home/Library/Fonts, then ran FontFinagler, rebooted, and things display correctly.
now i must figure out how to establish which fonts are suitable suitcases to be used.

  • Can't edit html

I have Dreamweaver CS5. Someone asked me to look at their website as it wasn't displaying correctly in IE v8. I downloaded the page and opened it in Dreamweaver but I can't edit the html. I When I tried to delete some code it didn't move.
Any ideas what's going wrong please?

    Hi,
    1. In my IE 8, the page is correct, your findings "Someone asked me to look at their website as it wasn't displaying correctly in IE v8." I can't confirm.
    2. The site uses templates. If you need suggestions for their treatment you can find them here for example (look for Murray's hint):
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/700322?tstart=0 or in other threads if you use DW threads search funktion.
... or you come back with the concrete terms for "When I tried to delete some code it didn't move."

  • Can you embed HTML snippets into Reflow?

Is this possible to do...ie a youtube video or even some other embeddable element?

Currently, Reflow only supports boxes (divs), text and images. We're planning on adding more elements in the near future, although HTML snippets aren't going to be there for a while.

  • How can I edit HTML code that was previously inserted?

Inserting HTML code is easy enough - Object -> Insert HTML...
But editing the code does not seem possible. It seems that it's necessary to delete the HTML object and reinsert it to make a change. What am I missing?

Right click. I'm on my phone, but an option like "Edit HTML..." should be among the choices when an HTML embed object is selected.

  • Can't edit html generated by iweb

files generated by iweb do not seem to be editable
i have tried dreamweaver 8 and it does not seem to like the code generated by iweb
anyone else having the same problem?

iWeb seems to make a couple "index.html" files that don't really contain anything. Odd.
The index seems to have this meta tag:
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= iWeb%20Try.html" />
that jumps to the content page...
But the regular content pages (welcome, etc) open OK in Text apps and Dreamweaver for me.

  • Editing html files using Contribute

I have just purchased the tracking software ProspectFinder
from Enecto.com that lets me see the names and details of the
    companies visiting our website.
In order for the tracking to function, I need to paste some
lines of html code to the respective pages of my website whose
    visitors I want to track.
How do I do that using Contribute?

You can use Insert-> HTML Snippet... to do the same.
If this is disabled for your role, please administer the site
and edit your role setting. Select Editing in the Edit ROLE setting
dialog and check the option "Allow HTML Snippet
    Insertion...".

  • How to edit html in iWeb

How can I edit html in iWeb?

but info was needed on how to edit / add additional coding as no obvious way of designing a typical 'Contact Us' form included in iWeb
Then you should have said that in your topic.
And if it did not answer the question, then say so in the same topic.
Anyway, the HTML Snippet was invented for your purpose.
So find the Contact Us code, usually a form, and paste it in the HTML Snippet.

  • My html snippet has only worked for 2 minutes in three months.

Warning: Long, descriptive story up ahead.
I bought my macbook pro complete with iLife 08 bundle software in January and eventually I became a little bit more advanced so I wanted to try using "html snippets" in iWeb.
That's when I discovered it was not working on my iWeb. (I have the latest version of iWeb 08 possible). Also, this is of less concern but my navigation menu is not displaying either-- meaning on the face of my webpages the individual Page Titles are not displaying "Main", "About Me" when I choose "display navigation menu" option from the inspector-- all I get is a big stupid empty space. And yes, I have all the options check to "display this page in my navigation menu" or some such.
So I drove over to an applestore (which took a whole freaking day of my time) and they opened up software updates in the store. This was around the whole MobileMe thing, so I got that upgrade too. And magically my iWeb's html snippets started working for the first time ever! I almost cried, but let's face it, there are more beautiful and spectacular things in life worth my tears of joy. Anyway, I indeed was really happy because I thought this was going to be the beginning of me being able to html snippet youtube videos directly onto my site and do other such amazing things!
Then today when I got home, I'm back to the same stupid non-working html snippet feature again!!!!
I can describe the html snippet issue a little bit: In my non-working html snippet version, a little transparent box appears when I try and open up html snippets... in this little box I can't type anything. How iWeb should work is that this black box should appear where you can type in your code and then a separate little box below the black one works on displaying what you coded.
One maybe important thing I noticed is that... You know how when you open up iWeb, in the left column by your sites there are/were those blue globe .mac picture? Well, after the MobileMe upgrade in the store (just yesterday actually on the 27th), those blue globes turned into blue squares with white clouds. So I think the conversion from .mac to MobileMe helped fixed my bugs? Because today my html snippets doesn't work again and I'm back to the .mac blue globes. I want those little blue squares with white clouds again if it will fix my issue!!
    HELP, please. Thanks!

I would look at several things. I'm assuming it shows fully charged after you charge it and that this is a new iphone and not used. Check your location services under Privacy: Location Services for apps that use your location. If you have apps always checking your location it can use power. Turn off any you don't really need. You can always turn them back on.
Check you wifi settings. Turn off the " Ask to join other Networks". If you are driving down the road it will be looking for other networks to join.
Turn off any apps running in the background that are not needed.
Restart your iPhone after you have done this. Hopefully this will improve your battery usage.

  • Can't access HTML code in Eloqua

I want to enhance the functionality and looks and mobile email template. For that I am trying to access HTML Editor to modify HTML code. How can I edit HTML codes in Eloqua10?

    Hello Hammad,
When it comes to email mobile templates, the feature that makes them a mobile template is the CSS code that can be accessed by going to the toolbox as demonstrated below:
What this means to you is the following:
While you cannot access the full source code of this email -- because it is a templated email and not an html uploaded email, you have two options to customize it:
    1) You can delete ALL the contents that come with the template -- the default image and text, and then add your contents to it.
    2) You can upload an email and use the css code that appears in the screenshot above.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Tarek

  • HTML Snippet Bug?

Yesterday after I downloaded and installed Ct-CS3, I created
a blog post and was able to use the Insert > HTML Snippet
option. Today, I tried to do that, and the option is grayed out. Is
there a bug or am I doing something wrong? Anyone experience this
    yet?

New realization: I connect to four blogs. Three of them, I
can use the HTML Snippet option. The fourth, I can't. I even
started a new draft in the one that isn't working, moved it to
another blog, and the option appeared. Moved it back to the
    original blog, the option disappeared.
    Now I'm really confused.

  • HTML Snippet on placeholder

Hi. I'm very very new to i-web, but I couldn't find answer to my question in the forum:
I can't drag HTML snippet into a placeholder in Blog or podcast template. I am in entry page and trying to link the video that's on public server (not youtube, but something else), but HTML snippet won't go into the placeholder. Could anyone help me?

The HTL Snippet is not a meant to be placed in a placeholder.
It's a placeholder by itself for inserting custom code.
Do not want that cannot be wanted.

  • HTML Snippets- I can't edit them!

    Hey,
I've been having this issue since I deleted a bunch of files and folders (which I thought belonged to removed applications) from ~/Library and /Library.
What happens is, when I insert an HTML snippet, I see a small box that looks like it's for inserting text, but I can't edit any of the HTML. Clicking on the box has no effect. When I drag things like Google Maps and Countdown Timer onto a page, the same, obstinate box appears, and refuses to comply with any requests I make.
So I think what I need to do is delete the file ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain and recreate my site in iWeb. I'm pretty sure this is going to work, because I restored my system once, and after it didn't find my site, and created a new Domain file, I no longer had the problem (of course, after I moved Domain back to its previous location, I wound up having the same problem, again).
Anyway, I'm just wondering whether there's a simpler way to fix up this mess. Although I think my site could benefit form an overhaul.
    Thanks!
    SeanDaBomb

Try quitting iWeb, deleting the preference - Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist,
restarting your Mac, running Disk Utility to repair permissions and relaunching.
