Can't edit info's

Since my brother made a sincronization with my ITunes an my IPhone5 I can only change my informations in my itunes library, but not in my i-phone, so I change info's in my library and then sinchronize over and over evry time I add something. Just today I'm not at home, I'm at some friends' and with their Itunes if I do what i usually do I'll delete all the song I've added with my own personal computer, and when I click on "Iphone" In the upper-right part of itunes And click on some of my songs in my iphone, not in my library, all the info's I'd like to change look faded grey, and if i try to click on them i can't edit them anyway. I have the latest version af itunes, what can I do to edit them in my iphone too

If your media is all greyed out and inaccessible, backup the device, then immediately restore it from the backup. The media needs to be in your library already.

  • Can't Edit Info in iTunes 5

Since I have installed iTunes 5 I can't seem to edit song information. When I select more than one song to edit, it won't let me even choose "Get Info." When I select one song, I can choose "Get Info" but when I actually click on the info I'm not able to edit it at all. Why can't I change my song info?

    Jason,
Launch disk utilities and do a "Repair Permissions" also make sure that you have read/write access to the "iTunes" folder, to all files in there (especially the Library files) as well as to all music files.

  • Can't edit info in library

I'm correcting misspellings and incorrect years in my library, but when I click on a song to edit the info, the existing info is greyed out and I can't overwrite it. In cases where a field is blank, I can enter text, but when I save it, it doesn't save it.
Has anyone else run into this and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

  • Can't edit info

I can't seem to edit the info of the items in my itunes library. When I go into 'get info' it shows up the light gray. What can i do to fix the probelm?

Sometimes that happens if the file is Read-Only. In the library, right-click and "Show in Explorer." Then, in Explorer, right-click and "Properties." If Read-Only is checked, uncheck it and "OK."

  • ITunes - cannot edit info

I am unable to make any changes in iTunes. Usually a slow double-click allows me to change Title, Artist, Genre, etc. When I right-click and select get info, the fields are all unavailable.
Is there something I can do?

I just upgraded to windows vista and iTunes 8.0 and had the same problem with all my songs that were originally windows media player songs, all in a separate folder from iTunes. I had iTunes import them all into its library, went to get info to edit and could not. Every field was grayed out. I went to my top level separate folder, clicked properties, clicked the security tab, and clicked 'Advanced". Selected the "permission entry" that matched my computer name (i.e. User (***\User) that had permission set to 'read & execute'. Then clicked 'Edit'. After the stupid vista continue dialog box, I selected the same entry again and clicked 'Edit'. Under 'Allow' in the list of permissions I checked the 'Full Control' box. Then OK, Apply, OK, etc...
Went into iTunes, I can now edit info on all my songs. Please let me know if this helps.

  • I just recently got a new laptop and transfered everything over and it seemed to be ok but now having issues playing videos and can't edit any of my song info in music files

I just got a new laptop so I had to transfer everything over and I thought everything would be ok but I'm having some strange issues especially with my purchased tv shows, movies, and music videos. They just wont play. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a tv show will play but if I stop it and try again it wont. If I open in Quicktime it works fine. The computer is authorized so that shouldnt be it especially if it plays in QT and like I said sometimes I'll get lucky and one will play. Now the other thing I just noticed is all my music files play fine but when opening and looking at the info of the music file I can't edit anything for example song title or artist the area seems shaded and won't let me do any editing. So I'm having those 2 issues. Video files not playing ones that I have purchased. movies, tv shows and music videos. Also like I said if I just sit there and click one after another I may get lucky and one will play but if I stop it and try again it will not play again. And I can't seem to edit any music file which play fine. I have a new Dell with windows 7 and I have never had this happen any help would be great. The computer is authorized for i tunes so it cant be that.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

There is nothing that you can do to get rid of the balance on your own. Contact iTunes Store Support and seek their assistance. I believe that they can reset your balance for you.

  • Problem with iTunes not sorting album/disc sets right, can't edit album info?

    Hi there,
I have recently been having an issue with my iTunes software. Here is what is going wrong: I right click on an album in my iTunes library, then select "Get Info." The "Get Info" window pops up, and I seem to be ready to edit my album information. Specifically, I am trying to edit the "disc number" (Disc Number 1 of 33, for instance). I can click on the little number boxes, and I can seemingly edit the numbers inside (i.e., change the 1 to 01). But when I press OK to save the changes, the disc number immediately reverts back to its original variable.
The whole reason I am trying to solve the problem above is a direct result of a previous problem. I recently bought a CD disc set (Haydn's Complete Symphonies) which contains 33 discs. When uploading them to my iTunes, everything was going fine until I reached disc 10 (i.e., the discs were all in the right order in my iTunes library, 1-9). When I hit disc 10, I expected it to show up right after 9 but it instead arrived right in front of 1. I now realize that this must be due to some shortcoming in the iTunes code (it thinks 10 is the next number in the sequence after 1, i.e., 1, 10, 11, 12, or something). I tried another disc (11), and it sure enough it appeared right after 10 (right behind disc 2).
I thought I could solve the sorting issue by putting a 0 in front of the disc numbers (01, 02, 03, etc) in order to get iTunes to recognize the correct sorting sequence. This, however, only created another problem, which is first problem I outlined above: I can't edit the disc information in order to make the vital change.
Could this be due to permissions settings? Is it just iTunes being glitchy? Am I missing something really obvious?
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and have iTunes version 11.0.5.5 installed.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm having this problem too. It does not seem to be a permissions issue. I have found so far that restarting iTunes will allow me to edit a song I have previously been unable to edit.
This is happening with iTunes 9.0.1 (9) I can't say for sure that it wasn't happening under 9.0 - but I didn't notice it then.
I find that songs are uneditable after they have been downloaded to iTunes. Not all songs, just some, on an unpredictable basis. I don't know if there are other older songs with the same problem, or whether it's just new downloads that are being affected.
I've also noticed that it's impossible to delete one of these songs from a playlist.
So - in summary : Download an album ... 2 or 3 songs on the album will be impossible to edit (song info) and impossible to delete from a playlist ... restarting iTunes allows them to be edited ...
    It's a really odd one.

  • Can't edit movie artwork (greyed out on Get Info tabs)

All I need to know is how to be able to add artwork to my movies that are being read form an external hard drive. When I press CMD+I for the get info window the option to even select the Artwork tab is greyed out and unavailabe. How do I get it to add artwork that I have found online?
I did not have this problem when itunes was reading the movies from my actual mac computer it only started when I made itunes read the movies from my external drive. I can still edit the artwork for the ones that are not on my external drive yet and are only on my actual mac computer. Why is this happeneing?

When you add a movie to iTunes you have to make sure it makes a copy of the file in the iTunes Media folder.  Otherwise, you can't edit any of the information on the movie or video.
In iTunes 12, go to Edit-->Preferences
In Preferences, go to Advanced and make sure the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library".
Unfortunately, you will now have to re-import the movie files into iTunes using "Add File To Library..." Once imported, the movie will sometimes appear under "Home Movies" instead of "Movies" but if you right click on the movie file it will list a menu item called "Get Info" where you can change the "Options" to "Movie". You should also be able to click the "Add Artwork" button.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't edit song info in iTunes 8

I just updated to iTunes 8. Everything was working fine in iTunes 7. Now, I can't edit some songs in my library. When I select 'Get Info', the information is grayed-out and not available for edit. Some songs that I recently added to my library using iTunes 7 can be edited, as well as songs that I added to the library in iTunes 8. I was thinking of trying to uninstall iTunes 8 and then re-install, but I didn't want to waste time if this was a known problem. I have fully administrator rights on my computer and I did not move the library location for the upgrade to version 8.

    My 'gat info problem: I
    Since updating to version 8:
right click to 'get info' on single file is fine.
But if I try to right click on a selection of files, I get a blank grey window, and a sort of weird truncated layout of SOME of the options normally available in those tabs down the right-hand corner of the big grey box. and they appear to be moving out of the frame of the window so some of them are only half visible. You can't get to them. Also if you move your mouse over it, I get a sort of "floating" OK button, - the only way to get out of the thing. Seems to be a serious graphical mess there. (hard to describe-I wish I could attach image file)
Anybody else out there have anything like this?
    Geoffrey in Melbourne Australia
PS: Just a thought: not sure if this is OK with Forum rules, (my apologies if it aint) but here is a link to images of the problem:

  • How can I edit the actual album info?  (Get info won't let me)

How can I edit the actual album information.  I recently loaded CD of duets, the artist name is correct, but doesn't show up on my artist listwithnstead its shown as a compilation by various artists.  When I use "Get Info" the artist name is right on all the tracks but doesn't show the correct name on the actual album  column.  Anybody know how to fix this?
    Thanks

Questions already been asked and answered,  thanks to Turingtest2 for his wisdom.

  • Itunes song will not delete and I can't edit the info

I added some songs to itunes 9 and now i want to delete one of them. I tried using delete, right-click delete, and edit delete. The window that asks if i'm sure I want to delete the song from the library doesn't even pop up. It's like the song isn't even there. It still played when I clicked on it but I can't edit the info either. I'm unable to click on the info boxes and the tabs for lyrics and artwork are grey. Then I realized I should just delete the actual file from the folder. That deleted from the trash but now the song says it can't locate the file and I have an exclamation mark next to the song name and it still won't delete. I have over 5,000 other songs and have never encountered this problem. I've deleted other songs since using itunes 9 and it has been fine. Is there something wrong with the song file? Please help!

  • Can no longer edit info on multiple items

It is so frustrating when an update makes some new change that takes away major functionality.  I have a folder of movies in itunes, a genre really, called "home movies".  I want to select them all and change something on them.  In this case, change them to the new "media kind" Home Videos.  So I select them all, or just a few or even just two of them and I get this message:
So in order to change the info in any way on these items, I need to select every single one of them one at a time.  Thing is, they are all the same media type anyway.  It seems this just must be a major bug, but wonder if anyone has any idea as to how to get around it so that I can access the info on multiple items like before.

Neainc1 is on the money.  I totally agree.  McBlob, the file types are the same and even if they are not, I should be able to multi select them just as I always could before!
I actually called Apple Support and after a long time while the agent checked with senior tech, they agreed it was a flaw and hoped it would be fixed in an update and encouraged me to send feedback to Apple, which I did, but I'm always suspicious about it meaning anything.  Still, hopefully they will fix it, but in the mean time, it is possible to downgrade to 10.7 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576
