Can't edit my iWeb page

I have BIG BIG trouble with this web page. This is the web page:
http://web.mac.com/mamafonz/iWeb/Site/Susan%20Gross%20Educational%20Workshops.ht ml
Each workshop has a contact person. But iWeb has fouled up the email address of each contact person.
For example, The December 4 workshop contact person is
Beth Lillskau <[email protected]>
(The above was copied and pasted from my iWeb page.)
On my published web page, it says that Beth's email is <shannon@ ecentral.com>
The <shannon@ ecentral..> is the email of a workshop I did a couple of weeks ago. I deleted the information since the workshop is over. Somehow iWeb seems to want to keep old emails in like they were graphics or something!
This has happened all over the page! The emails of OTHER workshop contacts are listed with the wrong person's name.
I Web is making me crazy! Help! I need to constantly update this web page and iWeb just fouls it up.
PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

For example, The December 4 workshop contact person
is
Beth Lillskau <[email protected]>
(The above was copied and pasted from my iWeb page.)
On my published web page, it says that Beth's email
is <shannon@ ecentral.com>
For me it is correct. Your own browser is just seeing old stuff. Clear your cache.

How can I edit my iweb site when the domain file opens up empty? I have the site backed up in mobile me, on my computer, and on an external hard drive.
How can I transfer these files into iweb?

    Hi there,
To edit your site from one of your backed up versions, place the Domain file in User>Library>Application Support>iWeb & then launch iWeb. Update & publish.

  • But we can't find the iWeb page you've requested

    This is getting FRUSTRATING!
I have created my iWeb pages, clicked PUBLISH ALL TO .mac I get a CONGRATULATIONS message that it's loaded, I click VISIT SITE, and I get this bloody error message
"We're Sorry but we can't find the iWeb page you've requested" It's possible that:
    · The address was entered incorrectly. Check your spelling and try again.
    · The .Mac member of this name has either created a page and removed it or has never published an iWeb site.
    · There is no .Mac member of this name. If you'd like this member name for yourself, sign up for a .Mac account right now and have your own iWeb site in minutes.
Well, I don't know what the deal is. I have done everything I can think of, I am doing everything I am supposed to do! HELP!!!

Nope. Says does not exist. IT DOES! LOL... trust me.
    http://web.mac.com/kendles/iweb/Welcome.html
There is no site name between "iweb/" and "/Welcome.html, so that url can't be correct. What is the name of your site inside the iWeb app.

  • Links to site come up "can't find the iweb page you've requested..."

    hi-
i was able to successfully republish my updated website (thru mobile me). it was originally published thru .mac last year before .mac changed to mobile me. however, i noticed that my web address does not have "mobile me" in the title as in some of the other websites that i've check out on the boards here. i wonder if that's a problem because when i've e-mailed links (by dragging the address or even copy & paste) to my updated website, the links don't work. it goes to a mac page that says "we're sorry but we can't find the iWeb page you've requested..." however, if i go thru a search engine (entering the first couple words of my site title), the website comes up fine. also, if i type in the full address manually in an e-mail, the link works. the problem seems to be in the dragging of the address directly from the site. are these things related? my website address is: http://www.hale-o-lani-aloha.com. (feel free to critique the site if you have any opinions about it)
    thanks.

    Deona,
Here's another post that might prove useful to you, from the iWeb06 forum. This may help you in the future when you want to update your site:
Because your site is already up on the .Mac server, I would never engage in publishing the entire site again; unless, of course, you just rebuilt the whole thing. Note which pages you made changes to, and publish your site to a folder. Double-click this folder on your desktop, and open the window in column view. Navigate to the Page_files, and the Page.html.
With the Finder window open that is showing your site, Command+N. Another Finder window will open. In this window, navigate to the same files on your iDisk, again, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/SiteFolder/Page_files(page.html)
From the iDisk Finder window, drag the Page_files/page.html of the pages that you made changes to to the trash. Now, from the other window, the window which shows your site in the published folder, drag these same files into the iDisk window, placing them in the same SiteFolder directory from which you dragged files to the trash. If you created a new page, you will need to also replace all other Page_files/page.html files which link to new page(s).
What you have just done is replace only the changed files. Because the .Mac slideshow assets are already uploaded, you should not have lost the .Mac slideshow for your photo's pages. Sometimes, it can even get simpler....as an example, I have a site that contains numerous .pdf files. With these, I don't even touch the Page_files/page.html files; I simple go into the Page_files folder and replace the old .pdf file with the new, updated one. Obviously the files are named exactly the same.
This is the best way for you to update your existing site on .Mac. You might also take a look at the ftp client, "Transmit". It works well with .Mac, with the exception that you must use the "Publish to a folder" command in iWeb.

  • Can you transfer single iweb page b/t computers?

i know about the 'domain' file to move one iweb site from one computer to another, but is there a way to import one individual/single iweb page created on one computer into iweb on another computer?

I figured it out. Home sharing was not activated on the iMac, even though I could see both computers on each computer. I tried to transfer all my music from the iMac to my MacBook Pro before I wiped everything off the iMac, but couldn't figure it out. I with I knew that before I reformatted it. I do, however, however, have everything backed up on disks. iTunes is one of the most confusing programs I've ever used...

  • Can't edit my front page?

When I try to edit my front page in Contribute CS5 my screen is gray with the header and I can't edit it, it is just blank.  I can edit all other pages but not my front page.  I need help!

Have you checked for .lck files on the server?
    Dowload a free FTP-manager (Filezilla f.i.)
Search for a file named: nam-of-your-page.lck

  • Can not edit parts of page

Can not edit part of a web page. I can edit text and pictures in the center of the page. When I go
to the info at top or bottom  of page cursor changes to a circle with a line thru it. Went to adminster website and did the unlock on the 2 files it showed. No help I am new to contribute and web flie editing.
    Thanks for your help.

There's also the chance that they are include files. The newest version of Contribute can edit those on-page(assuming you have permissions to the folder they sit in) but I believe that older versions could not edit them on-page. With older version, you would need to open them directly if you know where they are.

  • How can I access my IWeb page created on an iBook that has a crashed hardd.

I can´t make changes to my iWeb pages from my new iBook. The iBook i used to create the iWeb has crashed and I did not have back up. Is there any way to access and make changes to my iWeb.

    No.

  • Help! How do I edit existing iWeb pages from new computer?

I'm up a creek. I have a ton of pages published through iWeb using my desktop iMac G4. Recently the hard drive died. Eventually I'll have the hard drive replaced and files extracted, but in the meantime I don't know how to access my iWeb pages. I'm using my husband's iBook G4 now.
I didn't publish to folders, I just published right to our .mac account.
    Thanks!

Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. Sounds like this might be the case for you.
For your future reference, I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). http://iweb.aardvarkland.com

  • Can't edit text in Pages document

Many times I have opened a Pages Word Proessing document that serves as a brochure.  Today I went in to edit some of the text and I can't get a cursor to drop anywhere in the text.  All the text boxes can't be edited.
What may have happened? I am using Pages '09
    Mary Lou

Here's the explanation.  When I transferred the document to Pages, I did a copy and paste of the text boxes and graphics.  What I didn't understand was that, after they were in Pages, they would no longer need to be edited.
I have been printing the brochure from the Pages document for months.  It wasn't until now that I needed to edit it.  It came as a surprise to discover that in copying and pasting text boxes between these two applications, I lost the ability to edit them.
I have now selected the text from the original document and created a new text box in Pages and pasted the text into it.  It can now be edited further if necessary.
Thanks for discovering where my error was.
The original brochure was created as an Appleworks Draw document and cannot be opened in Pages.  Before I upgrade my iMac from OS 10.6.8 to Maverick, I need to make sure that I have created fresh Pages documents whenever I used a Draw document in Appleworks.
The dilemma is solved.  Thank you.

  • Can we edit simultaneously in Pages for iCloud and Pages for OS X?

I know that it's possible for multiple users to edit a document in Pages for iCloud (beta). But what happens if one user is using Pages for iCloud, and another person is editing the same document in Pages for OS X? Will the changes be updated in real time? Is there a danger of creating two different documents, as sometimes happens in Dropbox?
I ask because Pages for Mac still offers more features and tools than Pages for iCloud. So some users may be able to work in the iCloud version, but at least one of wants to use the OS X version to make the final graphic tweaks and edits. Is this possible, or are we asking for trouble by using two different editions of Pages?

Well... it looks like you were right. While Pages for iCloud theoretically supports simultaneous editing, in actual practice it's very difficult. There's no way to add comments or chat (as Google Docs allows), so it's hard to discuss what each of us is doing. And certain UI elements work differently in the OS X vs. iCloud versions, so results can be unpredictable.
iWork for iCloud will only succeed when all versions of the iCloud apps (OS X, iOS and iCloud) are 100% compatible with each other. Fingers crossed.

  • Can't edit text on Pages - help, please!!!

Help! This seems really basic, but I have entered text and now I can't access the text to edit it. I have done it twice, once in a text box and now in a shape and have the same issue with both. The document is treating each box like a single entity and not letting me select the text.
The relevant article on this on the Pages site isn't useful. I've used Pages a fair amount before and haven't had this problem.
    Thanks!

Hello Dennis, Thank you for replying.
I tried both of your suggestions. I am not sure if I am highlighting the box, but there are the little boxes that allow you to adjust the size. When I move them they shrink up the enitre paragraph to scale instead of truncating the text and keeping the text in the same size font which I am used to.
When I select the box as I am able to neither "Bring to front" nor "Unlock" are options. I am not sure if I am following the second instruction to drag the mouse from the gray margin properly though.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Web browser can not find my iweb page

    Hi there,
I need some help. I published my website onto the internet, and for a while it was accessible. But since I have my own domain name, I am unable to view it on the web. Every-time I try to view my web-page an error message appears saying "safari cant open the page because it can't find the server"
Please could somebody help me because I really need it to work!
    Thanks alot!

    Tom,
I'm having a similar problem to the one below. MM is hosting my website through a personal domain name (Doteasy is the domain provider). The url of my site is www.saginor.com. The mobile me version is http://web.me.com/shiplair. When I type into my browser http://web.me.com/shiplair/Saginor.com I get to the site. But when I simply type in saginor.com I get the message, "Safari cant open the page because it can't find the server". I tried the suggestions you gave below and none worked. I also checked with my domain provider, and the forward destination is indeed listed as http://web.me.com/shiplair. I checked the settings in my MM account and the domain is indeed listed as www.saginor.com. Then I tried "publish all to mobile me" in iweb. It didn't work. I hope this is enough information for you to offer a fresh perspective. Many thanks in advance for your help. --Shiplair

  • Can I change all iWeb page dimensions at one time?

I have website will about 50 pages.  I am now finding out on some browers that the top menu bar is wrapping.  I think I can fix the problem by increasing the width 10 pixels or so.  Is there a way to do this universally or do I have to change each page individually?

You have to do each page individually.
FWIW it is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown and our websites and galleries will be lost. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
