Can't edit or duplicate events

I have set up a few new events, but when I go to edit  information (to change time, add banners etc) it won't save my updates on SOME of them. Some I can edit without problems, but the remainder will not update after I click 'Save' - the information just reverts to the original.
Also, when I attempt to duplicate an event I am taken to a screen after clicking 'Save' that says 'Request not processed, contact Support'. I suspect this is a bug as I have been able to perform these functions in the past without any problems.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi,
We are aware of this issue and looking into the root cause of it.. With the info that we have, we assume this is happening only with the events created prior to C9.2.. New events should not have this issue. Please correct me if i am wrong..
We will let you know as soon as an update is available for the same. Till then workaround will be to create a new event instead of duplicating/editing old events.
Thanks

  • Can't edit Google Calendar events in iCal

I am using Google Calendar's new CalDAV sync system and their "Calaboration" tool to sync my iCal (version 3.0.5, and I'm using Mac OS 10.5.2) with my Google Calendars, per the instructions on this page:
    http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#ical
It seems to work ok in that I can now see my google calendar events in iCal. I can also add an event to that calendar in iCal, and it will sync to my google calendar. However, I can't seem to edit an event in iCal that was created on the Google Calendar web page. That is, all my events that I created in Google Calendar do indeed appear in iCal, but I can't edit them in iCal. I can edit events that I create for that calendar in iCal, but not ones I created in google calendar. Not a huge deal, but I was wondering if this is how it is supposed to work, because it seems a tad inconvenient.
(I do have my e-mail address in my address book "me" card, so that's not the problem.)

Yeah, I tried deleting the calendars in iCal and re-synching to them via Calaboration, but the same problem persisted.
I did find the solution after a bit of experimenting, though. To solve it, I basically created a new calendar on Google Calendar, imported all my events from my old google calendar into it, then used Calaboration to sync iCal to the new Google calendar, and now I can edit events in iCal and GCal without problems. I don't actually know what the problem WAS, but this seems to have solved it. Maybe I made my original Google Calendar too long ago and it had some old bad settings I couldn't see? I dunno, but it doesn't matter now.
For those who might have this same problem, here's how I transferred my old Google Calendar events into a new Google Calendar without losing anything: (You actually don't need to delete your old Google Calendar at all if you don't want to, so there's no reason to worry about losing your events.)
    1. In GCal, click the "settings" link at the top right of the web page. Then select the "Calendars" tab. Click the "Export My Calendars" link, which should be under your list of calendars, next to the cancel button. This will download a .zip file to your computer, containing all of your google calendars as individual .ics files. Go ahead and unzip them so that the .ics file for the calendar you want to duplicate is sitting in a folder somewhere on your computer.
    2. Now In GCal, click on the "Create" link on the lower righthand side of the "My Calendars" box, which is on the lefthand side of the screen.
    3. Create a new blank calendar and name it whatever you want. This is the blank calendar into which you will import your old calendar's events.
    4. Now, in GCal, click "Add" at the bottom right of the "Other Calendars" box, which is under the "My Calendars" box on the left side of the web page.
    5. Select "Import Calendar".
    6. Click "Choose File" and browse to the .ics file you want to duplicate on your computer.
    7. In the "Choose Calendar" pull-down menu, select the new, blank calendar you made in step 3.
    8. Click Import. This may take a few minutes, depending on the number of events you have in your .ics calendar file.
    9. Once it's done, look at the calendar to make sure your events all came into your new Google Calendar ok. It should look exactly like the original google calendar, but it will be a different color.
    10. NOW, use Calaboration to sync your iCal to the New Calendar you just made in Google Calendar.
    11. Once it's done synching, you should be able to edit events in the calendar in iCal.

  • I can not edit or delete events in ios calendar app

    iPhone 5s.  iOS7.
I have synched my google calendar with my iphone using caldv.  The calendars appear just fine.  I can add events, but when I attempt to edit them, they go back to the original event (prior to edit) after a few seconds.  Also, if I delete an event, a few seconds later, it reappears.  Very frustrating
    Am I missing something?

Not sure if you had same problem as I did but I had to go into settings then cloud and make sure contacts was set to on... (I had turned them off as I was a bit wary of the iCloud )

  • How can I edit image duplicates without changing the original?

I have an imac 2.8ghz intel core duo, running iphoto '11.
Id like to edit a large number of images whilst keeping a seperate album of originals.
I've tried duplicating an album of images and then editing but the program edits all copies of the image in both albums.
Ive tried relabeling the images before editing but that doesnt work either,
    any ideas?

1 - iPhoto NEVER modifies the original and at any time you can revert to it or see it in edit mode
2 - albums do not duplicat photos but are simply pointers to photos so they take no space so a change to the photo from any location changes it is all
3 - if you want two copies then duplicate the photo - generally it is uncessary

  • Bug! Calendar, can't edit single repeating event, iOS 8.1

    hello!
I've created a repeating event. And now I want to edit one of these events. But when I try to save changes there isn't option to save the single event, only two options: save for future events and cancel.
Delete the event works well — there are three options: single, future, cancel.

UPD. if i'm trying to rename the event, i have an option to save for the current event only. But if i'm trying to change type of schedule: from all-day to exact time, i have only the option to save for all future events!

  • Disappearing (future) events, late alarms, can't edit or delete events.... what's up?

This is a re-write of my badly composed post from earlier today....
My desktop iCal app is exhibiting very odd behavior lately.  Newly scheduled (future) events disappear when  I quit/open the app.  Alarms are late by random amounts of time 1.3 hours, 2.4 hours and not because of time zone settings  - I don't use the snooze option.  Also, certain events won't delete - I highlight the event, press the delete key and respond to the dialogue box but the event remains on the calendar.
I'm losing appointments and spending excess time managing my schedule - it's obviously pretty frustrating.
FYI - I do not Sync to iCloud nor do I Sync to Mobile Me.  I do, however, sync with my iPhone 5.

        Bmar96,
I apologize for not having the option to edit the review, it's the way the system is set up. However, we want you to be as happy as you were with your phone when you wrote the review. What's going on with your phone?

  • I can no longer EDIT nor VIEW events created in iCal...

I have a problem with my iCal in that I can longer edit nor view events.
I can create events, but only the first line of the details for a new event. I am not able to edit or add more info in any way after that (date, time, details, etc.)
I can delete the event though.
When I say I cannot edit nor view events, this problem occurs when double-clicking, when right/CMD-clicking, choosing the relevant command from the menu, or when typing the keyboard shortcut of either CMD-i or CMD-e.
Nothing works. Nothing happens. It's as if I have chosen to do nothing at all.
I have an iPhone which I use to sync events between my Mac and my iPhone, but without being able to properly create an event on my Mac with a chosen time and alarm, etc. iCal on my Mac is almost useless. All my events now have to be created on my iPhone - even when I am sitting right in front of my Mac.
The only use my Mac's iCal is to me now is for pop-up reminders after an event from my iPhone has been synced to my Mac.
The problem I am having with iCal is happening with all the calendars I have set up.
I have no online subscriptions, everything's local.
I have my iPhone set to auto-sync with my Mac for all data.
I am running the latest versions of iCal, the Mac OS (Leopard), the latest iPhone OS, etc.
I tried deleting all my iCal preferences from the ~username/Library/Preferences, but that didn't work.
I tried deleting all my calendars from within iCal in case there was a corrupt calendar, but that didn't work.
I trashed everything I could find that had anything to do with iCal (knowing I could restore from a recent Time-Machine backup), but still nothing worked.
Even when I had an empty iCal to work with, creating a test new-event revealed the same problems of not being able to edit the event after the first line.
I have since restored all my data from the backup I did the other day, so I am back to square one - not that anything I tried before this actually moved me off square one in any way...
Can anyone help me here? It's getting really frustrating having to type all my events out on the iPhone screen, especially when I'm sitting at my computer.

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

  • How do I delete duplicate events in my iCal?

Using SyncMate to sync my calendar and contacts from my Droid X to my iMac (MAC Office doesn't work since I upgraded to Lion).  Seemed successful.  However, I now have duplicate events in my iCal.  How can I delete the duplicate events?

    Hello Linda,
Duplicate calendar entries can definitely clutter up iCal.  I found an article that has specifically addresses duplicate birthday entries in iCal.  You can find the steps under section titled "7. Clean up birthdays and use the Birthday Calendar" in the following article:

  • Can't edit an event in my Calendar.

Yesterday I noticed that I can't edit an event in my Calendar. Also when I type a new event it drops some of the type off when I hit return. And it's not necessarily dropping off the end of the sentence! I'm using OSX10.8.5. The only thing that's different is last week I loaded Adobe CC. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I've turned off Calendar in iCloud and turned it back on and that didn't fix anything. Any suggestions?

    FOUND IT!!!
Found a previous post on here about it. I removed Lucida Grande and it's fixed!
"It appears the problem font for me was Lucida Grande. Resolving Duplicates didn't work properly, so I had to pull the old version manually."

  • Can't edit new event in ical since snow loepard

I'm not realy good in english but i make my best, so sorry for bizzare contents. 2 days ago i install snow loepard on the macbook of my girlfriend and now some applications have problems. in ical we can't edit events... We c'ant create a new event but we can't change de title. The line apears block. It's weard because we can change the hour or other things, but not the title... somebody have the same problem? i look on the forum and i see nothing like this or answer for resolve the problem...

    Hello,
I fixed the problem. On another thread about a related iCal problem, someone thought there was a font issue causing the problem.
First, I removed iCal from the dock.
Second, I opened Macintosh HD, then opened Applications, then opened Font Book.
Third, in the Font Book window I selected All Fonts, and from the menu I selected "Select Duplicate Fonts."
Fourth, in the Font Book window, rather than just disabling the duplicate fonts, I moved all the duplicate fonts one by one to the Trash.
Fifth, I emptied the Trash and restarted the computer.
Sixth, I opened iCal from the Applications list (and selected "Keep in Dock").
Now, the iCal is working fine and I'm able to edit the event title.

  • ICal Lion is infuriating. How can I add a new event in a chosen calendar without having to create it in my default then edit it?

iCal Lion is infuriating. How can I add a new event in a chosen calendar without having to create it in my default then edit it?

We are all entitled to our own opinions. So I respect you there brother
But then again, Apple has its own basis. iOS is what's selling like pancakes not Macs, so if the gazillions out there are using iOS device and have gotten used to the calendar in their iOS devices. Wouldn't you think it made sense if Lion has the same calendar look and feel?
Everything was considered and weighthed when they developed Lion. They even mentioned it in the press, They were blown away with the success of iOS so they are extending it to OSX.
Quite frankly, I like the old iCal but yeah I don't expect anything in SL to stay in Lion otherwise it'll be another Cat name related to Leopard
People should start looking at this perspective and not get STUCK in the old OS.

  • Found Audacity for my background noise. Can I edit my audio files in the FCPX event folder in Finder?

I think I found the solution to my background noise problem using Audacity.
But can I edit my audio files that are in FCPX Event folder in Finder? Or do I actually have to edit my project all over again to put in new audio (edited by Audacity)?

No, copying the whole Project and Event is just too much of a waste of time.
Do this, in the Browser, select the audio file you need to take to Audacity.  Export it as a Master File, and in the Settings section of the Share window, set Format to Audio Only.  Set Audio File Format to AIFF.  Set Open With to "Other" and select Audacity.  Then pick your Desktop as the location to save the file.
In Audacity, do whatever it is you want and save it.
Back in FCP X, import the new "fixed" file, be sure to check the box to copy it to your Event folder.
Finally, if necessary, do a Replace edit with the new version to the old one if it has already be edited into a Timeline.

  • Can't edit iCal events like before installing Snow Leopard.

When creating a New Event or trying to Edit an existing Event the title field isn't editable like before I installed Snow Leopard. If I try to click on the header field to edit it, the whole event box turns into a window with red & green buttons at the top and I STILL can't edit the title area! This doesn't make sense! Did something go wrong installing Snow Leopard? I've reinstalled it twice and still the same behavior. This can't be the way things are supposed to work editing events in iCal. I can edit the location and all the other fields in the event panel, but NOT the title. The only way I can try to edit the event title is by hitting the enter key and try to add characters before it switches to an un-editable field again.

Perhaps you've just updated your OS and now have the newer version of iCal which is ***** compared to the faster, more elegant older version. The older iCal presented every event's details in a ready to edit format just by clicking on the item in the calendar.
Now you have to double click that item you're interested in (one two) to get a window that shows you the item's details. Then, to edit, you must click the 'edit' button (three) upon which another editable window will allow your event details to be edited. Finally, after finishing your edits, you must click 'done' (four). Yes, that's right, 4 clicks to do what used to require only the initial click to specify which event you wanted to edit.
Four times as many clicks for a utility application that has no further improvements, only this annoying change from what was once a very efficient tool.
I do hope a future "update" will bring back the elegance of the older version with some true improvements.

  • Can't edit past events

i have a client who showed me this strange problem today.
she can view or delete past events for which she's listed as the organizer but can't edit them. i don't see any clear errors or notifications on the server to point me in any particular direction.
for individual events added to her calendar with no attendees, she can edit the past events, just not if attendees are listed.
any ideas? server's a g5 xserve running 10.5.5 for now. clients are 10.5.4-10.5.6. the client in question is on 10.5.6.
i also still have an issue at the same client, outlined here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964543
