Can't edit PDF

I just signed in for adobe and I still can't edit PDF's

Sounds as if you took up a subscription to Acrobat XI.
That, by itself does not put Acrobat XI on your computer.
Yes -- you have to download and install Acrobat XI on a desktop or laptop or smaller (but "real" - e.g., ultrabook, netbook, MS Slate Pro 3, etc) computer.
No "devices" eh.
Once you have the actual application installed you can launch it for use.
Good to do -- Fetch the Help file and study it.  Use the available Acrobat tutorials.
Acrobat is a "18-wheeler" so the gearng ain't your 3-speed bicycle shift.

The Adobe Press "Classroom in a Book" for Acrobat is available:

So, some resources to get you started (once you have downloaded and installed the application).
Be well...

Adobe Ink and Slide are designed for use with specific CC mobile apps. Acrobat and Adobe Reader are nothing to do with CC.

how can i edit pdf files ?

What kind of "editing" operations do you have in mind?
You can add/delete/change annotations (such as Sticky Notes or Highlight/Strikeout/Underline text markups) or fill out forms in Adobe Reader.  Some people (mistakenly) call it "editing".  But, strictly speaking, it is not.
Because Adobe Reader is a PDF viewer, you are not able to edit the content of PDF documents.  For example, you cannot
    add/edit images or text
    insert/delete/extract pages
    convert PDF from/to other formats
You need a PDF editor such as Adobe Acrobat Pro or Standard, which is not a free product.

  • Can't edit PDF, not even select anything

    Hello community!
I got a PDF that is not write-protected, not passworded, not restricted in any way from what my Acrobat 9 tells me, nor it does not seems to be PDF/X, PDF/E or PDF/A.
But I can not edit anything or even select text or objects. The pages are normal A4 pages with text and images, nothing scanned, created in Indesign CS5.5 (from the document properties), but exported
    with something called Ghostscript.
Any clue what switch I need to toggle to make this refusing POS bend to my will?
    Thanks in advance.

Does it definitely contain any text? You can test that by trying to copy/paste text. It could be outlined shapes (nasty, but often done).
Does it definitely contain images? A photo is an image but a logo might be drawn shapes.
What happens if you use the Touch-Up Object Tool (not Select Object Tool), then Edit > Select all?

How do i edit a PDF file?

    Hi rryankirk01,
To edit a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, please feel free to give it a try. You can download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
And to get you started, here is some good Help content about editing PDF files: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/topics/editing-pdfs.html

  • Can't edit PDF in Acrobat Pro 9

We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed on two workstations. On one workstation we cannot edit a particular PDF. It gives an error first about missings a system font and won't allow edits. On the other workstations, we get the same error but CAN edit by going to Tools -> Advanced Editing -> Touch Up Text Tool. Both workstations are Windows 7. Is this a permissions issue? Thanks for any guidance.

If you want to edit text in a font that your system does not have, you will need to install the font in order to edit the text. Acrobat should tell you the name of the font that you are missing.
That should solve your problem, let me know if it doesn't.

  • I have Acrobat 9 Standard at work.  How can I edit PDFs using this?

Part of my job entails creating PDFs of web pages and then deleting non-essential materials.  But, I have Acrobat 9 Standard.  How can I do this with what I have?

You can use the Text Edit tool to delete things. You can also redact items. Do not expect reflow to work, Acrobat is not a true editor, but has simple editing tools for simple fix ups. I would suggest downloading HTML source and editing that -- seems like a much simpler process. If someone (like a boss) is insisting you use Acrobat and get a PDF, then I would suggest downloading the HTML, editing it, and then create a PDF from that edited version. Probably a lot faster, though you may have to learn some HTML. Many tools like the HTML editor in SeaMonkey and other editor tools (DreamWeaver is typically recommended) can be used.

  • Can't edit PDF files now

I have Acrobat 5 and 9.4 on my machine.  My job includes having to crop and tweak the PDF files for outside resources.  My problem is, lately I can’t open all of the PDFs with 5 where all my editing tools are.  What do I need to get edit 9 files?

I'm assuming that by your question that you have Acrobat 5 and Reader 9.4.
If you want to edit newer PDF files, you need to purchase a newer version of Acrobat.
Also, I'm surprised you haven't experienced other problems. Having both Acrobat and Reader installed on the same machine has only started being supported with the new version, Acrobat X.

  • Can I edit PDF files with PDF Pack?

can I receive an PDF file and make changes to that file with my Adobe PDF Pack. and then create attachments to this file once i have completed the changes?

    Hi maddog#1,
Adobe PDF Pack doesn't allow you to edit a PDF file; you need the full version of Acrobat for that.
Please let us know if you have further questions.

  • Can I edit pdf files on a mac?

I have Acrobat Reader on my MAC osx 10.6.8.  I need to edit an pdf document. I guess I need to buy an Acrobat software (Pro way too expensive and beyond what I need).  I tried to download the latest Acrobat Standard X package, but it does not seem compatible with Safari but only Explorer  or Firefox/Mozilla which I haven't found a need for since Safari is just fine.  It downloads as a Windows (exe) vs. Mac (dmg), although my Acrobat Reader automatically downloaded compatible with MAC.  Can someone help?

You just need a PDF editor for Mac, except Adobe Acrobat, you can also try Infix PDF editor which is also powerful to edit a pdf file with many functional tools.
In my opinion, it is more convenient to use than Acrobat. For example, it enables you to edit text in pdf like you do in owrd doc. Not mention that Acobat has no Mac version now.Free try it before final purchase it. The full version is much cheaper than Acrobat.

  • Can't edit pdf form with acrobat all of a sudden!

I used to be able to create and edit our pdf forms we created with Acrobat.  After switching to Creative Cloud and updating/installing all the apps we want to use, it now says:
"This form cannot be edited in Acrobat.  Pleae use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form."
I don't see this app available?

  • Can't editing PDF text-no system font error

    Hi all,
I'm trying to edit a PDF containing "Arial+0" font. This is the original font and the editing font. There is no system font for this, so I am unable to edit or delete text.
I attempted one solutioon to edit the TouchUp Properties for highlighted text, changing the font to something my system has.  However, when I tried changing the font to "Arial", I got the following error:
The change to a different font was not done because the chosen font and the font encodings in the document differ and could not be resolved.
Is there a way around this error?  Any other approaches to try?
    Thanks!

If you want to proceed, you will either have to find a version of the Arial font that was used (not necessarily easy) or try each of the fonts on your system until you find one that is compatible. Is the font embedded? If not what font is your system using to display the text?
You might find it easier to get the original document, do the edit in the appropriate software, and recreate the PDF.

  • Can I edit an Adobe Acrobat .pdf attachment in Mac Mail before I hit send?

I have numerous .pdf approval sheets that I attach to a client’s ad in order for each client to approve, sign and fax back to me. I have many different .pdfs made up with only different counties the client will advertise in already in the .pdf. Now the publisher wants the name of each client to appear on each sheet (I have 130 clients). Is there a way of editing the text (to add client name) in .pdf attachment before hitting send in Mac Mail? I don’t want to have to redo so many different .pdf approval sheets each time in order to keep changing just client’s name on the .pdf.
    Thanks,
    Mickie
