Can't edit Roles & Worksets

Hi,
There is very strange issue we are facing on the portal recently,
We are on EP 7.0 Patch 15. We observed that there is a small change in the sap standard view.
When we try to edit the roles that were created earlier and the new ones it doesn't allow us to edit them.
EDIT MODE button is in disable mode for all the roles.
Now If we select Trace Delta link from the dropdown box and then switch view then we can't edit any property for role. Its the same issue with worksets.
The user that we are using to modify developer created roles has super admin role assigned. So definately there is no issue with premission or end user rights.
Has anyone faced this issue? Any solution that can figured out?

We are facing same problem in EP7, SP6
EDIT MODE TAB is disabled for iviews...even when accessing thru administartor role.
As far as permissions are concerned:-
Super_admin: owner, end user, role assigner
Administrator: Full Control, end user, role assigner
Everyone: Read/Write, enduser
I have Created Web-Dynpro iview and now want to edit PCD Location i.e. changing the dc of this iview..
But cannot...
Please help us out...

Two threads in 2 diff forums to get much better views. Bottom Line none of the solutions have worked so far.
Yes we are on latest patch. SP 15. Yes we are accessing portal with FQDN from the very start.
Have also tried to access on various versions of IE 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and on differents client systems to negate any scripts errors that might have cropped.
Much better explaination will be... I open an Role that has to be edited.
On the top the buttons SAVE, PREVIEW, EDITMODE are in disable mode. Only CLOSE & REFRESH are in enable mode.
In the Bottom we have these buttons UP, DOWN, DELETE, CUT, COPY, PASTE, EDIT, RESET NODE. These all are in a disable mode.
Only 2 buttons in Enable mode are New Folder and Refresh Node.
So as EDIT button is always in disable state for any role that has been created its not possible to make any modification to the properties.
If i switch view to Delta Link Tracer it opens only in read only mode.
POINTS TO BE NOTED.
Unlike the previous SP levels now the changes in the STANDARD Role Iview are
On the top You have a extra Button SWITCH VIEW after Dispay & Drop Down box.
Unlike previously where once you open the role all the properties are displayed on the right hand side of the view in Property Editor now its no more like that. You don't have property editor.
You won't have Properties and Trace Delta Links button at the bottom of the Standard Role View.
Is anyone facing the same issue with SP 14 or 15 ? Or now there is some other approach to edit the roles?
If any one need a screen shot to have a better analysis please shoot a mail to the id i would be ready to provide them.

Can not edit roles properties

Dear All,
I found the solution but for the moment I don't know if it is a bug or not.
In my user if the flag "Activate Accessibility Feature" is set on, I can't edit the properties of all objects (except IViews). The button properties and Edit are greyed.
If I set of the flag, the button are available and I can change all the object.

If some functionality is missing or reported by many users, then you can call it a bug. but this seems to be only for your user. It works for other users of the same portal. So this can't be a bug but would have happened due to some unwanted or unknown actions in portal. SAP Portal is very sensitive as far as I understood. Any wrong configuration or wrong deployment can easily bring a server down. So we have to make sure we are doing right things to the most extent. For your question, you can delete your user, recreate it and check. hope that will work.

Merging -- This is used when you need to merge role
You can merge a node from one role with a same-level node from another role. Both nodes then appear as one entry in the top-level or detailed navigation, with their respective subnodes appearing in a given sequence beneath the new merged node.
You can merge the following objects:
·        Entry points
·        Root nodes of roles and worksets
·        Folders in roles or worksets.
Both the merging of nodes and the setting of display priorities of the merged nodes are accomplished through various property settings.
●      Merge ID: It consists of a given string that you must enter as a value. The navigation service checks the values of all navigation nodes, and all entries with identical values are merged.
●      Can be Merged: A property that defines an object as eligible for merging,all enteries having same merge id's can be merged.
●      Merge Priority: A property that determines which node in a merged group is the dominant node, the sort priority, and other properties of the node.
PROCEDURE:
1.Assign the same merge ID to all the entries and nodes of a role that are to be merged.
2. In the same editor, set the property Can be Merged for all the entries and nodes of a role.
3. In the same editor, set the property Merge Priority for all the entries and nodes of a role that are to be merged.
4.Save the values you have set.
5.Edit the next role by selecting an entry in the role (the node that is to be merged with a node in the first role).
6.Edit all additional entries to be merged as described above for the first role.

Unable to open the "role" workset in User Administration

I have installed Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP9 on Web AS 6.40. But when I goto the "role" workset of User Administration I get "page cannot be displayed".
So help required.

I got the same problem. Try to upgrade to SP17
and it's solved. Otherwise you can use Firefox for this special site. No good solution - I must admit - but it's displayable with Firefox.

JDeveloper 12.1.3.0 - Can't associate role to user

Hello,
I'm not able to associate WebLogic users to roles in JDeveloper. In a BPM project I created some roles in the current organization and I want to associate users to them. By double-clicking on one role I'm opening the Edit Role dialog. Here I select "User" in the Role Escalation list-box and I click on the magnifying glass on the right. The Identity Lookup dialog opens. In the application server I select my current WebLogic 12c application server which is running locally. A dialog box containing the following error message is displayed:
The server exception is: Connection refused from server.
However, I can browse the server in the Palette. It is not the default domain but a compact domain that I created with the Configuration Wizard.

I'm sorry, I think it didn't got to me what that meant. Don't have to be sarcastic or something. Trying to help you out here, since it's been a few days that you posted it. Checking things to be sure.
I found that it occurs that I could not query users from the realm, while I was in the impression that my server was running.
You could check things like hostname (sometimes localhost just doesn't work). I've no further ideas at the moment.

Role / workset assigning depending on group / users

Hi All,
I have a role in top level navigation and two worksetsm (say workset 1 and workset 2 or say role 2 and role 3) in second level navigation.
I want to give Role A to every one, but workset 1 should be visible to some people and workset 2 should be visible to some other people.
How can I do this?
I have 2 ideas....
1) through code I can control roles / worksets and assign to groups
2) creating two roles with same name but with different ID's and assigning workset 1 to role with id 1 and workset 2 to role with ID 2. It will look like same role to end user but worksets are differnet.
Other than these 2 option, is there any more options i have????

I have 2 options is mind..
1. You create two roles with same name , different id, but you can utilize the merge property( open the role and check its properties), so that if a user has both the roles, he can see only one top level navigation role.
So even in futrer if you have requirement to show other worksets you can maintain them by this.
2. You can create two groups and assign the user to the groups depending upon the permission you have set for the roles.
Based on your requirements you can choose, I used 1st option in my project.

Hi,
In our case, even though i change the name of the workbook using 'Change title' that is not reflected in the workbook if it is in a role. so, in that case, goto pfcg - enter the name of the role -> menu tab -> change the workbook name for the workbook of your choice.

How can I edit a page which uses jQuery Tabs that are hidden in edit mode?

My client cannot update the html5 css3 jQuery tabs as they are not visible on the page in edit mode. Is there anyway that he can update with Contribute 6.5 or is there any other CMS which would allow him to update it?

To make scripts visible in edit mode follow the below mentioned steps.
1) Administer the website.
2) Select the role and click Edit role settings.
3) Uncheck the option "Protect scripts, forms and spry widgets".
4) Click OK to save and exit.

Portal Installation : User Administration -- Role workset error

Dear All,
We have installed EP NW04 SR1 . Every thing is working fine, All the menus are coming up properly except when i click on the User Administration --> Role --> Role menu, its starts for some time and then gives "Page cannot be displayed, Operation aborted" . This error only comes for the Role workset. Every thing else is working fine.
It would be nice if i can get guidance as to how to debug this error

BP: can't edit "user name" field in section "employee data"

Transaction - BP, tab - identification, Change in BP role - employee.
why i can't edit "user name" field in section "employee data"?
Field is unchangeable only for one in a ~800 BPs.

Earlier it is possible to change the User ID field.

If this BP is used somewhere else I mean in some transaction/CRMD_ORDER/Support message,so it might be not possible to change this now....becuase the log will become incosistent.
for e.g. if in ticket XXXX i have been assigned as reporter as...BP no 10
Later you are assigning this to no 10 to some other person or ID ....
Then the log of CRMD_ORDER or ticket will become inconsistent because the BP is now assigned to a different person who never worked on the same.
Actualy i have faced this query during one implementation that why we are able to change the UserID of existing BP even if it is used in some transaction/message.
Might be this is a new correction in the recent release.

Other than this if you are trying to access the roles within a portal context there is a control called DelegatedRolePolicyManagerControlFacade (com.bea.portal.tools.entitlements.controls.DelegatedRolePolicyManagerControlFacade) which can give you all the roles:

I already tried that, but I need the image set in the pictogram property of the role/workset/iView and not the image corresponding to the object type. The ultimate aim would be to get the same result as in using Navigation tag library <nav:navNodePictogram>
But due to some constraint, I cannot use Navigation tag libraries and want to have the same effect using the INavigationNode object.

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
Do cleanup.
