Can't empty e-mail inbox (37k messages)

SpamBlocker hasn't really been doing it's job. The account in question hasn't been checked in a couple of months but there's been quite a buildup of messages.
The empty inbox link doesn't work - it tries for a second then says "We were unable to perform your request. Please try again." I tried adding the account to outlook, in hopes outlook would delete all the messages after downloading them. Outlook first hangs downloading on the 11th message, then it will continue and completely stop around ~110-120 messages. It will do the same thing every time and download the same messages over and over again.
No luck there.
My only real option is to delete all 37,000 messages 50 at a time from the web interface. That's just insanity.
Is there any way I can request the e-mail account be emptied? I don't need to save anything in there.

You can contact tech support and they can escalate a ticket to have it done, but it's very important that you tell the agent you are 100% ok with losing ALL of the mail in the mailbox, and you're aware that once it's deleted you won't be able to get it back. Make sure the agent puts that in the ticket before they send it up.

All I see is this:

What phone?
You would need to disable data on the phone itself. You wouldn't do it online on your account.
Note also that text messages do not count toward your data allowance.

Can't Import Correct Mail Inbox

When I upgrade from 10.3 to 10.4, and I open Mail, I see most of my various mailboxes. But they don't seem to contain my latest mail. The inbox, the trash, the junk mailboxes contain mail from old mailboxes I've stored in my computer. When I try to use in the import command to import my current inbox, i get a message saying there is no OS X mailbox to import.
Why can't I find my current mail and why won't Mail import what appears to be the correct mailbox?
I'm going to be stuck on 10.3 if I can't find my current mail. Any tips on how to import ALL my mail?

Try selecting "other" as the type of mailbox, but then select your Mail inbox, or another *.mbox from \users\username\Library\Mail\....
i had this problem when I upgraded to 10.4 and it worked real easy. For some reason the older *.mbox created in Mail 1.0 aren't recognized as Mail 2.0

Mail inbox - blank messages

A strange one: I upgraded to 10.5.5, and now I can't view old mails in the inbox. They are all there, and the headers are fine. But clicking on them just opens a blank window.
All mails arriving AFTER the upgrades are fine - they can be viewed as normal. It's just the old ones.
Also, the same mails are OK when viewed through Gmail. So it's clearly a Leopard/Mail thing. What's going on?

OK, I did the rebuild. Now I've lost all the old mails! Only the ones that came after the upgrade are now visible...help!

How can I retrieve deleted Mail inbox mail messages and sent messages?

I moved location and found (once again) that I could not send messages. In the past I have moved between Apple support and BT support to fix the problem. This time the BT IT technical support guy took over the screen, created a new account, made sure I could send messages and said goodbye.
In fixing the problem he deleted my existing BT Email Account and along with it 8 months worth of email history. I had backups to 5th April and hose are now restored but missing form 5th April to yesterday. With my old PC I could always retrieve stuff I'd deleted (as it never really disappeared from the computer)
Does anyone know if my deleted email box contents are still siting hidden somewhere on my laptop and if so how I can get them back? (I've only just started using Macs so still very green!)

Welcome to the Discussions, and to Macs.
Each time you remove an email account there is a warning that the mailboxes associated with that account will be lost -- that is a very accurate message, and they no longer exist. The BT tech was simply clueless, but ought not to have been so cavalier!
Any messages that remain on the server, however, can again be downloaded -- are you able to view the POP server to see what remains on it? The Sent messages would not be there, of course.

I can open my e-mail but a message list is not visible. Concerns Firefox 4. With Crome is no problem.

I changed Firefox 3.6 to 4 and with this download become a problem. I can't see my e-mail message list, meens I can't reed may e-mails. This problem is only with Firefox 4 no older versions. Chrome shows my e-mails correctly. Must I change the browser?

OK - I fixed this myself. On a hunch I used Firefox to check my plug-ins. I deleted all the old java plug-ins and installed the latest update and hotmail now works. How people with no computer knowledge at all solve their problems I'm blowed if I know. It shouldn't be this hard...

I think I am having the same problem. I am using a macbook pro 15 and this morning it received an OSX update, it is now on 10.10.2. I use Office365 email for work and suddenly I can't use 2-finger scrolling over my inbox list. I can scroll through the email body and there is no problem with gmail inbox.
this is a real pain, when i attempt to scroll it attempts to scroll the whole web page, it doesn't seem to recognise that my mouse pointer is over the list of emails of my inbox.

I have been unable to view the content of any messages since installing OS X Mavericks. I can send and receive mail, but viewing message content crashes the mail app.

Hi Kim, I don't think AOL supports @mac.com, in iChat anyway you should have an AIM account, which will allow you to chat with @mac.com though. Using the setup or add account to ichat just use the part before @aol.com

U need to follow the following steps to configure the Mailboxes for the user from NMS 4.x to ICS 5.x
Migrate the Netscape Messaging Server message store to iPlanet Messaging Server message store.
Change the primary store partition path to point at the Netscape Messaging Server 4.x message store path as follows:
Use the iPlanet Messaging Server Administration Console to change the message store configuration to point to all the Netscape Messaging Server 4.x mail store partitions (mailstore is the example given in step 5).
Remove the user subscriptions directory.
Copy the Netscape Messaging Server message store:
NMSServerRoot/mailstore/store/user/
to:
iMSServerRoot/msg-instance/store/user/
(mailstore is the example given in step 5.)
Copy the mboxlist file:
NMSServerRoot/mailstore/store/mboxlist/data.db2
to
iMSServerRoot/msg-instance/store/mboxlist/folder.db
Copy the quota files:
NMSServerRoot/mailstore/store/quota.db2
to
iMSServerRoot/msg-instance/mboxlist/quota.db
Do not copy any other files!
(Step 12) Configure dirsync to support the new multi-system schema by using configutil to add the following two parameters:

Try this .... Go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>account>advanced>deleted mailbox>trash. Select trash under On My iPad.

UPDATE:
After waiting for about ten days, I tried setting up my e-mail the regular way (by selecting yahoo mail) again yesterday. To my surprise, it went through without a glitch. I guess the cache of the gateway server must have been reset.
I have been enjoying push for yahoo mail for the last 24 hours again. But I just noticed now, that the problems might be starting again. There are recent e-mails that don't show up on my phone, but do through yahoo's web mail page. When I select "refresh" through the menu on the phone, I see the circle in the top corner spinning for as long as I wait, but the e-mails don't get downloaded. That is exactly how my problems had started in the first place. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and wait and hope that it fixes itself.
There might be a compatibility problem with yahoo servers and the verizon email gateway because I have two gmail accounts set up with the stock e-mail the same way, both using verizon's gateway server for push, and they have both been working with no problems for almost a month. (Even though sometimes the "push" is delayed by up to 5-10 min, most of the time it is within a couple of minutes and that's fine, I'm not that picky) And when I do "refresh", ti only takes a few seconds to complete the request.
And I still haven't heard anything from Verizon.

Blocking outgoing empty subject mails

I can drop empty subject mails easily on the incoming side, but how do I drop or redirect outgoing empty subject mails?

A few things:
1 - I think you just copied and pasted the HTML content, including buttons and pull down menus - some of that output makes it difficult to understand the actual filter settings. i usually ask people to send either a screen shot, or send the output from the "outgoing / incoming content filters screen" with the "rules" view selected. mine looks like:
2 - I don't know if your second condition will ever be met:
'^FW:$'.
Instead, I would use something like '^(i?)FW:$' (and I would even add '^(i?)RE:$' too). Here's what mine looks like:
empty_subject: if (subject == "^(?i)FW:$") OR (subject == "^(?i)RE:$") OR subject == ("^$")) { alt-rcpt-to ("[email protected]"); }
the only reason I can think of this not working are: A) the sender / recipient is placed in the wrong outgoing mail policy or B) there is a content filter matched before hand that is bypassing this one. perhaps you could send in your mail_logs from a test message for debugging?

First of all, before you do any programming, if you want to have your computer send e-mail messages then you must have access to an SMTP server.
Next, if you do have access to one, then JavaMail is a common way to write programs that send e-mail.
As for mobile messages ("text messages" to a cellphone?) you usually need a contract with some phone company to do that, so they can bill you for it.
When you find out about that, they should provide you with documentation on how to proceed. If it involves sending e-mail to a particular address, see part 1 of this reply.
