Can't emty trash, fseventsd-uuid & 00000000000##a##

Hi guys!
I have this really weird problem with my trash bin that started yesterday.
Last night when I was trying to empty my trash bin I couldn't.
It was weird so I restarted machine and thought of it as a bug.
What I did realize after restarting it was that it looked like this:
http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/2247/weird01uk4.jpg
When I then emptied the trash bin it looked like this:
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6656/weird02pb3.jpg
It lookes like that the files similar to 0000000000086a6d changes number each restart. and new fseventsd-uuid creates.
+I don't know if this has to do with any of the mentioned problem above but..+
Yesterday I copied about 2.5GB from a windows computer and the windows computers owner decided to shutdown the computer during this transfer so the transfer was aborted and I moved the damaged files manually.
I'm new to mac so I was looking in the time machine settings.
I pressed at "choose harddrive...." and then "set time capsule" no harddrive shown because I only have 1 main harddrive&partion in mac disc format. Air-port shows up and then searches for devices, but it does not find any devices ofcourse because I don't have any. So I realized that I needed a an extra harddrive/partition to make this work.
Extra Applications beyond the orginal associative installed:
Paragon NTFS
Perian
Flip4Mac
Norton 1.2
Firefox
Thunderbird
Toast Titanium 9
Office 2008
Maya 2009
Zbrush 3.12
Adobe CS4 master collection
Painter X
utorrent
VLC
Fable
I had the same settings for over 1 month without any problem whats so ever.
Where is the root of this problem?? What did I do wrong?
I have virus scanned but Haven't found any virus.
When I searched for fseventsd here I figured out that this is something regarding time machine?
PS.
My English may suck, sorry about that.

Sometimes when the trash cannot be emptied it is because it was created on the Windows side. If you have a Windows emulator like Bootcamp or Parallels, start in that and run the ChkDsk utility.

First alternative:  Press Option & Command, "r" then "p"....Utilities Terminal:  cd-/ (then) rm -R . Trash
If that does not resolve the issue, then
    Second alternative:  sudo_rm_-R_/Trash

I'm running OS 10.6.8.  A file (C1EC7F00) has appeared and can't be trashed.  How can I get rid of it?

    Where has it appeared?
You can forcibly remove it via the terminal..this will bypass flags/permissions preventing you from deleting it.
    sudo rm -rf /path/to/file/C1EC7FOO
Note that the path to file needs to be the actual path. What you do is type sudo rm -rf , then just drag the file right into terminal and the path will be entered. Make sure there is a space between "-rf" and the "path." Make sure you copy the exact command and path to file. Make sure NOT to hit Return before you drag the file into terminal if you choose the latter method. This is a dangerous command if used improperly. Very effective, though, in cases such as yours.
Once entered, hit return. Enter your password. Type "exit." Close Terminal.

Hi bdtphd, and a warm welcome to the forums!

This will give you a bit more space, not much, but maybe enough to work with...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then do a Get Info in the Finder on some big file(s) you can afford to trash, then unlock the Lock at the bottom, change Permissions so you can Trash them, Empty the Trash while holding the Option Key down.
Where aiming for 20+% or 10+ GB whichever is more for free space.
When you get a little elbow room...

  • Emailing Excel sheets-can't empty trash

I notice anytime I send someone an Excel spreadsheet & then dump that excel into trash I can't empty trash, why is this? I close down all excel worksheets. I even trash the sent mail that had the excel attachment. Why does it think there's still an open Excel running? Is there a simpler solution then having to use Mac Janitor or Onyx everytime I do this?

Sometimes the Mail application will hold up the process. I can't explain why, but next time try quiting Mail when you have that problem. Then you should be able to empty the trash.

After upgrading to Aperture 3 I had to 'upgrade' all files. When this was done, there was an Aperture 3 library and the original Aperture 2 library. Are the two libraries identical and can I safely trash the Aperture 2 library?

If the upgrade completed successfully and you are running Aperture 3 on the converted library and you're sure all the images that were in the old library are in the new library then you could delete the Aperture 2 library.
However I'm the paranoid type and when it comes to deleting images I'm always hesitant. If you can fine a place to archive the old library that  would be your a better option.
At a minimum I would keep the old library around for a month or so after switching to Aperture 3 just to make sure in case something pops up.

  • Help me I can't epmty trash

I use Mac os 10.6 and I can't empty trash
the only way to empty trash is to format bootcamp and after a few day the trash re fill again inspite of i don't install windows or any other system on bootcamp the name of these file that in trash is (ËdMe±±.ÑÕ) and( išŒëé¬\”.«¢J) and like that
    please help me

you didn't reformat the drive correctly. you just erased the OS X partition. you need to reformat the whole drive. boot from the SL dvd and start disk utility from Utilities menu. select the whole drive (select model, not name) and click on the partition tab. set the number of partitions to 1. click on options and set the partition scheme to GUID. set the drive format to mac os extended journaled and click "apply". when formatting is done quit disk utility and proceed with the install.

  • Help! Desktop has been wiped accidentally. Where to from now? Can I restore Trash?

Helpful husband has accidentally wiped everything from my desktop while copying things from an external drive.
The whole desktop is completely EMPTY. Not a single thing there. Trash is empty. No folders appear when I search for them.
I'm waiting on Apple Support for a phone call, but desperately wanting to know what I can do in the meantime.
Is there any way I can reverse the Trash can???
Our iMac is only 2 weeks old, we're new Apple users and just in the process of formatting our external drives to back up everything.
Still learning about other ways to back up our work every day...
Help is very much appreciated. Thankyou.

Lesson one - keep the desktop clear, or at least put your files elsewhere (Documents folder for instance) and use an alias (shortcut) on the desktop.
If the trash has been emptied, you'll need recovery software and an external HD.
Stop using the Mac if possible until you can do this, as the more you use it the greater the possibility of over-writing the files.
    Data Rescue 3;
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
    Stellar Phœnix;
    http://www.macintosh-data-recovery.com/
Both programmes will give you a free download to scan your HD and see if the files are recoverable, but you'll have to pay for the full application to actually recover them.
There are others with varying levels of usefulness, so someone else may be able to recommend more.

  • Can't empty Trash "file in use"?

The file referred to is called "Localised.rsrc" how can I find it and remove it soo that I can empty the trash?
The files in question are an aborted install of Palm Connection software if that's relevant and I suspect the file in use is some sort of diary event.
    Can anyone advise?

Hi again - I went through the first page you referenced again and although it didn't fit the scenario (it's not a part downloaded file) I hadn't tried secure delete so this time I did and it worked.
For the record the "localized.rsrc" file wasn't even an active process so I don't know why it was a problem.
Must remember that for the future and thanks again for your help.

  • -8003 Error "Can't Empty Trash" only with specific item

Tried to get rid of a folder for an applicaiton that I'd downloaded & installed on a trial basis, then decided not to buy.
Any time I trash this folder with the app and related files, I get the "Can't Empty Trash -8003" error.
If I remove that folder, I can empty the trash fine.
    Any ideas?

  • How can I delete trash mail?

How can I delete trash mail?

I have two trash folders with different icons. The trash folder with a garbage bin as an icon has a Delete All function but the other trash folder does not. When I delete messages they go into the second trash folder. I then have to delete them one at a time. Then they pear in the trash folder with the garbage icon. Then I can use the Delete All button to remove. But it is a long complicated process.
